1.Recurrent odontogenic keratocyst within the masticatory space.

The odontogenic keratocyst (OKC) is a developmental odontogenic cyst typically occurring in the jaws. Since the first description of OKC was published in 1956, the lesion has been of particular interest because of its specific histopathologic features, high recurrence rate, and aggressive behavior. Recurrences most commonly arise within bone at the site of the original cyst. However, as lining cells may find their way into surrounding tissues either from implantation during surgery or from cortical perforation recurrences may arise at a distance from the original cyst. Here, we report a rare case of recurrent OKC which was first developed in mandible and recurred within the masticatory space.

Splenic cysts are unusual in daily surgical practice and less than 1000 cases have been reported. Primary, true or epithelial splenic cysts, are even rarer. Usually, most of the cysts are asymptomatic until of significant size, at which time they are then detected incidentally on ultrasonography or CT scan. We report a case of a 25-year-old woman with giant epithelial splenic cyst with about 3000 ml of clear-yellow fluid was collected from the cyst. The splenectomy specimen measured 205 mm × 192 mm × 137 mm and weighed 4000 g.

5.Intraosseous ganglion cyst of the lunate: A case report.

Intraosseous ganglion cyst of the carpal bones represents a rare cause of wrist pain. We report a case of a 42 year-old, right-handed female, who presented with pain of the right wrist following a fall on the palm of the hand. Clinical study revealed a moderate swelling over the mid-section of the palmar face and pain through extreme ranges of motion of the wrist. Plain radiographs and CT-scan of the wrist have revealed an intraosseous ganglion cyst of the lunate bone. Curetting-filling by Kuhlman's vascularized radial bone graft allowed a good functional recovery. The clinical, radiological and therapeutic aspects are discussed.

8.Radiological characteristics of the cyst-like lesion of condyle in temporomandibular joint by cone beam computed tomography.

OBJECTIVE:
To analyze the radiological characteristics and classifications of the cyst-like lesion of condyle in temporomandibular joint (TMJ) by cone beam computed tomography (CBCT).
METHODS:
The study was conducted retrospectively on TMJ images from 194 patients who underwent CBCT examinations. Location, size, amount, surrounding bone trabecula, cortical bone white line of cyst-like lesion, and the overall condition of the condylar bone were evaluated. According to the overall condition of the condylar bone, the cyst-like lesion of condyle were divided into typesⅠand Ⅱ. The location, size, amount, surrounding bone trabecula, and cortical bone white line of the two types of cyst-like lesions were compared.
RESULTS:
In 198 condylars of 194 patients, cyst-like lesions were detected in the left side of 94 patients, in the right of 96 patients, and in both sides of 4 patients. The size of lesions ranged from 1.2 mm to 13.5 mm, with an average size of (3.4±1.5) mm. Half of the cyst-like lesions were located underneath the anterior lateral cortical bony layer (99 condylars, 50.0%). Most cyst-like lesions were solitary (149 condylars, 75.3%), while 62.6% (124 condylars) were surrounded by continuous bony white lines. Bone sclerosis could be observed in 160 condylars (80.8%). A total of 132 condyles (66.7%) were accompanied by changes in late-stage osteoarthrosis, while the others were only accompanied by early-stage osteoarthrosis (10 osteoarthrosis, 5.1%) or showed no evidence of osteoarthrosis (56 osteoarthrosis, 28.3%). Statistical difference were observed in the location, amount, and surrounding bone trabecula of the two types of cyst-like lesions. TypeⅠcyst-like lesions had more frequent and bone sclerosis than type Ⅱ, whereas type Ⅱ cyst-like lesions occurred more on condylar internal or condyle neck than typeⅠ.
CONCLUSIONS
The pathogenesis and mechanism of the two types of cyst-like lesions may be different from each other.

10.Clear cell chondrosarcoma with secondary aneurysmal bone cyst changes.

Clear cell chondrosarcoma is a rare cartilaginous tumour of low-grade malignancy. Although it has a characteristic histological appearance, its radiological features and clinical presentation often mimic a benign lesion. Herein, we describe the case of a patient with a clear cell chondrosarcoma of the right proximal femur that had an atypical appearance of chronic avascular necrosis on initial plain radiographs, which made preoperative diagnosis a challenge. In addition, the tumour also had extensive areas of aneurysmal bone cyst-like changes, which is not only a rare histologic phenomenon in clear cell chondrosarcoma, but also a confounding factor in the interpretation of the radiologic findings.
