Quantitative measurement of strain distribution of arterial vessel walls due to pulsatile blood flow within the vascular lumen is valuable for evaluating the elasticity of arterial wall and predicting the evolution of plaques. The present paper shows that the three-dimensional (3D) strain distribution are estimated through uni-directional coupling for 3D vessel and blood models reconstructed from intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) images with the computational. fluid dynamics (CFD) numerical simulation technique. The morphology of vessel wall and plaques as well as strain distribution can be visually displayed with pseudo-color coding.

Objective To summarize the effective managements of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) duing open heart surgery in the elderly patients by comparing with that of the non-elderly groups. Methods Pre-operative common data and the managements for 84 elderly patients during the cardiopulmonary bypass from January 1998 to June 2000 were analyzed retrospectively, and the same data of 80 non-elderly patients(40-60 years old) who underwent CABG during the same period were also randomly selected and compared. Results The elderly patients were usually combined with hypertension, diabeties, chronic kindney failure and abnormal pulmonary function. The average time for CPB and clamping time for the ascending aorta were (115.6?27.0)min and (80.4?32.2)min, respectively. The average lowest nasopharyngeal and anal temperature was (29.8?1.4)℃ and (30.7?0.8)℃, respectively, showing no significant difference comaparing with those of the non-elderly patients. Objective To unveil the current situation and bends of Keshan disease in Pingliang city of Gansu province, to evaluate the outcome of related prevention and control measures, and to provide scientific basis for further prevention and treatment of the disease. Methods According to the "the central allowance local public health special funds endemic disease prevention programs grams mountain monitoring programme" and "the diagnostic criteria for Keshan disease" (GB 17021-1997), between 2007 and 2009, local residents from nine monitoring points in Pingliang city of Gansu province were clinically examined, and electrocardiography(ECG) tracings and Xray were taken of suspected cases. Corn, wheat samples and hair samples of children, adults and women were collected, and selenium content of these samples was determined by 2.3-2-amino-naphthalene fluorescence method. Results A total of 5846 residents were surveyed in 3 years, 247 cases of Keshan patients were detected, with a detection rate of 4.23%(247/5846), of which potential cases of Keshan disease 214, the detection rate was 3.66% (214/5846); chronic Keshan disease 33 cases, the detection rate was 0.56% (33/5846); no acute type and subacute Keshan disease detected. A total of 764 abnormal ECG cases were detected, and abnormal detection rate was 13.07%(764/5846). Two hundred and seven cases of suspected patients were examined by chest X-ray, 80 cardiac enlargement cases were detected, the detection rate was 38.6% (80/207). The 262 hair samples of children, adults and women were analyzed, hair selenium was (0.279 ± 0.098)mg/kg. Of the 9 corn and 31 wheat samples collected, corn selenium was (0.0079 ± 0.0029)mg/kg; wheat selenium was (0.0104 ± 0.0078)mg/kg. Conclusions Overall Keshan disease is in a stable and subsided trend in Pingliang city of Gansu province, but there are still a number of potential chronic types, sporadic new cases, suggesting that the disease monitoring, comprehensive prevention and treatment of the patients are the focus.

Objective To evaluate the clinical effects of emergency neoplasty on corneal penetrating injury. Methods A total of 102 cases of corneal penetrating injury were investigated.The patients underwent micro-trauma technique suture,optical iridectomy,extraction of anterior segment foreign bodies,nepheloid lens removal,and artificial lens implantation.The vision of pre-and post-surgery was compared and relationship between injury location and recovery was analyzed. Results The injury of cornea repaired completely 1 month after surgery.Cross infection was not found in the patients with one-year long follow-up(80% of all patients).The vision of all patients raised.The injury in center and nasal side affected vision significantly. Conclusion Timely surgery to corneal penetrating injury may be considered in order to improve the recovery of the traumatic eyes.

Nuclear proteins often form punctiform structures, but the precise mechanism for this process is unknown. As a preliminary study, we investigated the aggregation of an HSV-1 immediate-early protein,infected-cell protein 22 (ICP22), in the nucleus by observing the localization of ICP22-EGFP fusion protein.Results showed that, in high-level expression conditions, ICP22-EGFP gradually concentrates in the nucleus,persists throughout the cell cycle without disaggregation even in the cell division phase, and is finally distributed to daughter cells. We subsequently constructed a mammalian cell expression system, which had tetracyclinedependent transcriptional regulators. Consequently, the location of ICP22-EGFP in the nucleus changed with distinct induction conditions. This suggests that the cellular location of ICP22 is also influenced by promoter regulation, in addition to its own structure. Our findings provide new clues for the investigation of transcriptional regulation of viral genes. In addition, the non-protease reporter system we constructed could be utilized to evaluate the role of internal ribosome entry sites (IRES) on transcriptional regulation.

Objective To study surface heparinization of small intestinal submucosa(SIS)and an- tithrombegenicity of beparinized SIS films with plasma initiation technique for the engineering vascular scaffolds. Methods The SIS films were grafted with heparin by hypothermia plasma initiation technique.The blood com- patibility of the modified SIS films was assessed by observing blood coagulation time in vitro and the long term pa- tency of hepafinized SIS vascular scaffolds directly under the circulation of blood.Results The hypothermia plasma initiation method could attach heparin onto the SIS surface,The water contact angle of SIS films modified with heparin was decreased while the surface free energy and hydrophilicity increased.The prothrombin time(PT),ac- tivated partial thromboplastin time(APTT)and thrombin clotting Time(TT)of the SIS films modified with heparin were prolonged obviously.Small caliber engineering vascular scaffold made of heparinized SIS films kept the patency for six weeks.Conclusion Heparin can be attached to SIS films by hypothermia plasma initiation technique.The modified surfaces provide good and persistent antithrombogenicity,and possess potent blood compatibility,

Objective: To investigate the changing trends in the burden of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) in Zhejiang Province from 1990 to 2019, so as to provide insights into CVD control in the province. Methods: Based on the data of the Global Burden of Disease Study (GBD) 2019 (GBD 2019), the years lived with disability (YLD), years of life lost (YLL), disability-adjusted life years (DALY), YLD rate, YLL rate and DALY rate due to CVD were estimated to assess the burden of CVD in Zhejiang Province from 1990 to 2019. The changing trends in the burden of CVD were using annual percent change (APC) in Zhejiang Province from 1990 to 2019, and compared to China and global regions with different socio-demographic indexes (SDI). Results: The YLL rate (APC=-0.50%, F=22.366, P<0.001) and DALY rate due to CVD (APC=-0.20%, F=5.212, P=0.030) appeared a tendency towards a decline in Zhejiang Province from 1990 to 2019, while the YLD rate showed a tendency towards a rise (APC=1.92%, F=1 117.891, P<0.001). The YLL rate (APC=-1.09%, F=56.871, P<0.001), YLD rate (APC=1.92%, F=922.541, P<0.001) and DALY rate (APC=-0.60%, F=28.974, P<0.001) appeared the same tendency among women relative to among the whole populations, while only the YLD rate showed a clear-cut change among men, appearing a tendency towards a rise (APC=1.82%, F=1 238.423, P<0.001). Both the YLL rate and DALY rate appeared a tendency towards a decline among subjects at all age groups, with the most significant reduction among subjects at ages of 50 to 69 years (YLL rate: APC=-4.40%, F=1 443.608, P<0.001; DALY rate: APC=-3.82%, F=1 519.452, P<0.001). Among all types of CVD, the highest burden was measured in cerebrovascular diseases, with a standardized DALY rate of 1 359.7/105, and the most remarkable reduction in the standardized DALY rate was seen in rheumatic heart diseases. The burden of CVD in Zhejiang Province was lower than that in China and the majority of the world, with consistent changing trends with that in China and global regions with different SDI. Conclusions The overall burden of CVD appeared a tendency towards a decline in Zhejiang Province from 1990 to 2019, which was in agreement with that in China and global regions with different SDI. A remarkable reduction in the burden of CVD was seen among women, residents at ages of 50 to 69 years and cases with rheumatic heart diseases.

Abstract: Objective　To analyze the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis infection in the elderly(≥ 65 years old) in Xianning City from 2011 to 2021, and to provide scientific basis for formulating strategies and measures for tuberculosis prevention and treatment in the elderly. Methods　Descriptive epidemiological analysis was used to analyze the epidemic characteristics and influencing factors of elderly (this article studies elderly people aged 65 and above) pulmonary tuberculosis in Xianning City, Hubei Province from 2011 to 2021. Results　From 2011 to 2021, the average annual registration rate of elderly patients with pulmonary tuberculosis in Xianning City, Hubei Province was 211.52/100 000 (5 289/2 500 496), which showed a downward trend （χ2 trend=58.06, P<0.05), and significantly higher than the average registration rate of 96.04/100 000 patients with pulmonary tuberculosis (26 463/27 554 195)(χ2=2 896.69, P<0.05). The average proportion of the registered number of elderly patients with pulmonary tuberculosis in the whole population was 19.99% (5 289/26 463), which showed an upward trend (χ2trend=272.05, P<0.05). The average positive rate of etiology in elderly patients with pulmonary tuberculosis was 51.86% (2 743/5 289), which was significantly higher than that in the whole population 46.41% (12 282/26 463) (χ2=52.53, P<0.05). The average proportion of retreated patients in elderly patients with pulmonary tuberculosis was 8.92% (472/5 289), which was significantly higher than that of retreated patients in the whole population 6.33% (1 674/26 463) (χ2=47.23, P<0.05). The sex ratio of male to female in elderly patients with pulmonary tuberculosis was 2.92∶1. Among the six counties (districts) under the jurisdiction of Xianning City, Hubei Province the registration rate of elderly tuberculosis patients in Xian'an district was the highest 262.20/100 000 (1 267/483 220), and that in Tongcheng County was the lowest 123.83/100 000 (575/464 338), with significant differences (χ2=233.67, P<0.05). Conclusion　The overall incidence of tuberculosis in the elderly in Xianning City , Hubei Province showed a downward trend, but the proportion of the incidence of tuberculosis in the elderly in the whole population has increased year by year, suggesting that the elderly are the key population of tuberculosis prevention and control in Xianning City in the future, and comprehensive prevention and control measures should be taken to reduce the incidence of tuberculosis in the elderly population.

Objective To evaluate the clinical value and effectiveness of ultrasound screening for fetal chromosomal abnormalitie in the middle and late pregnancy. Methods Fetuses who were detected with abnormal ultrasound findings during the middle and late pregnancy, and high risk of maternal serum screening underwent amnioeentesis or eordocentesis for fetal chromosome karyotypes. Results (1) A total of 31 cases with fetal malformation diagnosed by ultrasound were analysed for fetal chromosome karyotypes, and 8 (25.8%) cases were proved with fetal abnormal chromosome karyotypes. There were 3 cases of cervical springwater cyst accompany with edema,and all were fetal abnormal chromosome karyotypes. There were 3 cases of cervical pachyderma,and 2 were fetal abnormal chromosome karyotypes. There was one case with multiple malformations, one with Dandy-Walker malformation and one with holoprosencephaly malformation,all were revealed fetal abnormal chromosome karyotypes. (2) A total of 516 cases with high risk of Down's syndrome and trisomy 18 by maternal serum screening were analysed for fetal chromosome karyotypes,and 14(2.710%) cases were proved with fetal abnormal chromosome karyotypes, which include 7 cases of Down's syndrome and 7 cases of other fetal abnormal chromosome karyotypes. (3) A total of 544 (516 + 28)cases with high risk by the combination of ultrasound and maternal serum screening were analysed for fetal chromosome karyotypes, and 21 (3.86%) cases were proved with fetal abnormal chromosome karyotypes, the rate of detection higher than only maternal serum screening 42.43%.Conclusions Fetal structure abnormalities were the effective ultrasound signs for fetus chromosomal abnormalities screening in the middle and late pregnancy. The combination of ultrasound and maternal serum screening can improve the rate of fetus chromosomal abnormalities screening and be an effective way to retrieve false-positive and lower risk of maternal serum screening.

Objective To investigate a new method for detecting fetal cardiac arrhythmia.Methods Used two kinds of superposition:①left ventricular outflow tract color flow image with right atrium wall motion curves superposition,②left ventricular outflow tract color flow image with left ventricular inflow tract colour flow image superposition,167 cases of fetal arrhythmia were detected.Results Among them,84 fetuses with atrial premature heat,39 with ventricular premature beat,23 with temporal sinus bradycardia,12 with sinus tachycardia,4 with Ⅱ°atrioventricular block(AVB),2 with Ⅲ°AVB,3 with atrial fibrillation.Conclusions Using superposition of M-mode echocardiagraphy with color Doppler imaging to diagnose fetal cardiac arrhythmia is easier and more accurate.
