Objective To investigate the prevalence, etiology, rehabilitation demands and service condition of hearing disorders based on the whole population in Jilin Province, China. Methods Using the probability proportion to size (PPS) sampling, 9246 (93.3%) out of 9909 residents sampled form 36 counties were targeted for investigation from August, 2014 to January, 2015, followed the WHO Ear and Hearing Disorders Survey Protocol. The hearing loss and disability were classified as WHO recommended and Classification and Grading Criteria of Disability (GB/T 26341-2010). Results The standardized prevalence of hearing loss and disability was 16.41%and 4.78%, re-spectively. Age, sex, residence, occupation and marriage status, education level and household income were significantly associated with hearing loss prevalence, while nationality was not. The main etiologies included non-infectious disease (47.33%), ear disease (14.17%), un-known causation (13.89%), and noise (8.59%). Among all people with hearing loss, those who accepted intervention service accounted for 11.02%. Among all people with hearing disability, those who used hearing aids accounted for 5.58%, and 0.67%used artificial cochlea. Con-clusion Demographics and socioeconomic factors are significantly associated with the prevalence of hearing loss. The main etiology con-tains non-infectious disease, ear disease and noise. Both the rate of service utilization among people with hearing loss and the rate of adopt-ing hearing aids among people with hearing disability are low. It is needed to do more in prevention and rehabilitation of hearing impairment.

Journal of Central South University(Medical Sciences) 2022;47(12):1629-1636
OBJECTIVES:
Fluorouracil chemotherapeutic drugs are the classic treatment drugs of gastric cancer. But the problem of drug resistance severely limits their clinical application. This study aims to investigate whether hypoxia microenvironment affects gastric cancer resistance to 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) and discuss the changes of gene and proteins directly related to drug resistance under hypoxia condition.
METHODS:
Gastric cancer cells were treated with 5-FU in hypoxia/normoxic environment, and were divided into a Normoxic+5-FU group and a Hypoxia+5-FU group. The apoptosis assay was conducted by flow cytometry Annexin V/PI double staining. The real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and Western blotting were used to detect the expression level of hypoxia inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α), multidrug resistance (MDR1) gene, P-glycoprotein (P-gp), and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) which were related to 5-FU drug-resistance. We analyzed the effect of hypoxia on the treatment of gastric cancer with 5-FU.
RESULTS:
Compared with the Normoxic+5-FU group, the apoptosis of gastric cancer cells treated with 5-FU in the Hypoxia+5-FU group was significantly reduced (P<0.05), and the expression of apoptosis promoter protein caspase 8 was also decreased. Compared with the the Normoxic+5-FU group, HIF-1α mRNA expression in the Hypoxia+5-FU group was significantly increased (P<0.05), and the mRNA and protein expression levels of MDR1, P-gp and VEGF were also significantly increased (all P<0.05). The increased expression of MDR1, P-gp and VEGF had the same trend with the expression of HIF-1α.
CONCLUSIONS
Hypoxia is a direct influencing factor in gastric cancer resistance to 5-FU chemotherapy. Improvement of the local hypoxia microenvironment of gastric cancer may be a new idea for overcoming the resistance to 5-FU in gastric cancer.

Medical Journal of Peking Union Medical College Hospital 2024;15(4):904-910
Hypertension (HT) can induce aortic dissection (AD) by increasing the tension of the aortic wall and promoting tissue degradation, and continuous HT may increase the risk of aortic-related death. It is a significant factor in poor prognosis for AD and the most important controllable factor. Research has shown that blood pressure management after AD can reduce the incidence rate and mortality of AD, so controlling HT is an important goal and means of AD treatment. This article reviews the research progress on the impact of AD on blood pressure, the significance and methods of blood pressure management after AD, with the hope of providing reference for the treatment of AD patients and benefiting them.

OBJECTIVE:To study the skin irritation and se nsitization of domestic generic drug Clobetasone butyrate cream , and to compare it with commercial drug (original drugs ). METHODS :The skin irritation test was conducted on rabbits. Totally 24 rabbits were randomly divided into test preparation intact skin group ,test preparation abraded skin group ,commercial drug intact skin group and commercial drug abraded skin group ,with 6 rabbits in each group. 0.5 mL test preparation or commercial drug was administered to the left side of intact or abraded skin and the same amount of excipient on the right side of each rabbit twice a day for consecutive 7 days. The irritation of the drug to the rabbit skin was observed ,and the erythema and edema of the skin were scored;the skin of administration site was taken at 72 h after last administration and the end of 7 d after drug withdrawal for histopathological examination. The skin sensitization test (Buehler test )was carried out on guinea pigs. Totally 60 guinea pigs were randomly divided into test preparation group (n=20),commercial drug group (n=20),positive control group (n=10)and excipient control group (n=10). 0.2 mL test preparation or commercial drug was administrated to the left side of the rib abdomen skin of each guinea pig at the 0,7th,14th day to induce model ,and an equal amount of corresponding preparation was administered to the right side in the same way at the 28th day for stimulation. Hypersensitive response such as erythema and edema were observed and scored at 24 h and 48 h after the stimulation. The incidence of hypersensitive response was then calculated. RESULTS:In skin irritation test of rabbits ,no erythema and edema was caused by the test preparation or commercial drug on intact skin of rabbits ;scores of skin irritation was 0;there was no dermal irritation. Both test preparation and commercial drug caused transient slight erythema on abraded skin of a few rabbits ;scores of intact and abraded skin irritation were 0-0.33;there was no dermal irritation. There was no statistical significance among groups. No dermal pathological changes were observed. In skin sensitization test of guinea pig ,no hypersensitive response such as erythema and edema was found on the skin of guinea pigs in both test preparation and commercial drug groups ;both score and the incidence of hypersensitive response were 0. Compared with excipient control group ,there was no statistical significance of average score and the incidence of hypersensitive response in test preparation group and commercial drug group. CONCLU- SIONS:In skin irritation test of rabbits and skin sensitization test of guinea pigs , the evaluation results of generic Clobetasone butyrate cream are the same as those of the original drug. It has no irritation to the skin of rabbit ,and no sensitization to the skin of guinea pigs.

The successful retrieval of ancient mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) from Neanderthals provides powerful experimental evidence that clarifies the arguments between the out-of-Africa and multiregional models of evolution. However, the lack of nuclear DNA from Neanderthal fossils and mtDNA of early modern human fossils dating back to approximately the same time in the Pleistocene constitutes a limitation that may compromise the significance of mtDNA phylogenetic analysis. In this report, we introduce a mitochromic analysis using Neanderthal mtDNA as a foreign transgene and humans as a naturally occurring transgenic species. Forty Neanderthal mtDNA retrievable nuclear fragments were identified by blasting human genome data with Neanderthal mtDNA. Five of the 40 fragments exhibited higher correlation with Neanderthal mtDNA than those with modern human mtDNA. Furthermore, these five nuclear fragments harbor Neanderthal mtDNA-unique haplotypes. Based on the 98%+ identity between Neanderthal and modern human mtDNA when compared by groups, we suggest that some of the modern human nuclear fragments retrieved using Neanderthal mtDNA may aid in decoding Neanderthal genetic information, and also may simultaneously demonstrate a close genetic evolutionary relationship between modern humans and Neanderthals.
