In the field of surgery, there are a large number of studies in progress for more minimally invasive surgery and cosmetic improvements. Among these studies, NOTES (natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery) and single-port laparoscopic surgery are the 2 studies attracting the most attention. Single-port laparoscopic surgery is a procedure where laparoscopic surgery is performed through a single incision at the umbilicus or another region. Until now, many kinds of surgeries were performed by single-port laparoscopy. In this article, the authors attempt to explain the procedures of single-port laparoscopic appendectomy in detail based on our experiences.

4.Review Article Fingertip Replantation.
Journal of the Korean Microsurgical Society 2011;20(2):132-138
Although finger tip replantation is popularized nowadays, it is not easy operations even for experienced surgeons. The indication for replantation to treat fingetip amputation is still controversial, but I think replantation for function and cosmetic absolute indication. This paper will discuss about methods of fingertip replantation and unexpected complications on soft tissue after operation.

Chinese Journal of Preventive Medicine 2023;57(12):2220-2223
The use of cosmetics in the crowd has the long-term characteristics. The adverse reactions of cosmetics reported in other country in the world suggest that human patch tests and short-term human using test may not be sufficient to evaluate the safety of high-risk new cosmetic raw ingredients, and long-term human using test should be conducted for evaluation. Therefore, this article reviews the key factors that affect long-term human trial trials, such as site of use, single-use amount, frequency of use, duration of use, and subject conditions, providing supportive evidence for standardized safety evaluation standards for long-term human using test of cosmetics.

BACKGROUND: Graying of hair-a sign of aging-raises cosmetic concerns. Individuals with gray hair often look older than others their age; therefore, some dye their hair for aesthetic purposes. However, hair colorants can induce many problems including skin irritation, allergic reaction and hair-breakage. OBJECTIVE: This randomized, double-blind clinical trial was performed in order to examine the effects of APHG-1001, a compound including an extract from Pueraria lobata, on graying hair. METHODS: A total of 44 female subjects were randomly treated with either APHG-1001 or placebo twice daily for 24 weeks. Using the phototrichogram analysis, a count of newly developed gray hair was estimated. Investigator assessment and subject self-assessment were also performed in order to evaluate the efficacy of the compound. RESULTS: The mean number of newly developed gray hair at 24 weeks was 6.3/cm2 in the APHG-1001 group and 11.4/cm2 in the placebo group; the difference was statistically significant (p<0.05). However, the investigator assessment and subject self-assessment did not show any significant change in the gross appearance of hair grayness by the end of the study. No severe adverse events in either group were observed. Moreover, the incidence of adverse events did not differ between the groups. CONCLUSION: This clinical trial revealed that APHG-1001, which contains an extract of P. lobata, could prevent the development of new gray hair without any remarkable adverse effects. Thus, it can be considered as a viable treatment option for the prevention of gray hair.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 2008;46(7):990-992
Milia en plaque (MEP) is an unusual and rare variant of milia characterized by tiny papules overlying an erythematous plaque. The majority of cases have been described as occurring around the ears. The histopathologic finding is consistent with milia. Despite its benign nature and lack of symptoms, MEP raises cosmetic concerns. We report a case of MEP occurring on the left 3rd finger, an unusual location, in a 2-year-old girl.

Annals of Dermatology 2011;23(2):229-231
Desmoplastic trichoepithelioma is a rare benign adnexal tumor. Although it is a benign lesion, patients often want to treat it due to cosmetic concerns when it occurs in an easily visible site. For our two cases, topical 5% imiquimod was an attractive treatment option as it is applied by the patients themselves and it has minimal side effects, including leaving no scar. However, the lesions recurred after clinical remission. To the best of our knowledge, this is the only report on utilizing imiquimod to treat a benign adnexal tumor, and especially desmoplastic trichoepithelioma.

PURPOSE: Dramatic improvement of hemangioma to propranolol has been recently reported; however, details on dose and duration of treatment, potential risks, and monitoring have not been determined. The objective of this study is to describe and analyze the use of propranolol as a first-line treatment or as a single therapy in management of complicated hemangioma. METHODS: A retrospective chart review of eight patients diagnosed with hemangioma and treated with propranolol in Kangbuk Samsung Hospital from February 2010 to April 2011 was performed. RESULTS: Eight patients with hemangioma with functional impairment, cosmetic disfigurement, or rapid growth were treated with propranolol. Five patients had solitary facial hemangioma. The mean age of symptoms at onset was 5 weeks. The median age for starting propranolol treatment was 5.5 months. Propranolol at 2 mg/kg/day was finally administered in divided doses with a gradual increase. Significant regression was observed in seven patients, and shrinkage in size, softening in consistency, and decrease in redness were evident within 4 weeks. Among them, six patients were still taking propranolol, and one patient had stopped after 12 months. Other one patient did not show significant improvement with satisfactory result after 3 months of propranolol use. Treatment with propranolol was well tolerated and had few side effects. No rebound growth was observed in any of the patients. CONCLUSION: We observed that use of propranolol was very effective in treatment of hemangioma without obvious adverse effects or relapse.
