Objective To analyze the results of the assessment of malaria elimination in 8 counties(districts)in Huai'an City,Jiangsu Province,so as to provide evidences for consolidating the achievement of malaria elimination. Methods The da-ta from the network reports of malaria epidemic situation, blood examinations of febrile patients, epidemiological questionnaires of malaria cases, investigation and disposal of epidemic focuses were collected and analyzed in Huai'an City from 2010 to 2016. The results of the assessment on the clinicians'ability of malaria diagnosis and treatment as well as the inspectors'skill of Plas-modium microscopic examinations were analyzed. In the natural village where the last local case of malaria was reported ,no less than 200 blood filter papers were made for gene detection of Plasmodium. Results From 2010 to 2016,308 malaria cases were reported in Huai'an City. Totally 323002 patients received blood detection of malaria, among which 272 ones were positive and the positive rate was 0.08%. The majority of the malaria cases were imported, except 19 and 3 local infection cases in 2010 and 2011,respectively. Except Qinghe District,a total of 1420 blood filter papers from the other 7 counties(districts)were detect-ed genetically, and the results were all negative. Six of the eight counties(districts)gained an average score of 20 points on the Plasmodium microscopic examination, and Jinhu County and Huai'an District got a minimum average score of 19.6 points. In ca-pacity assessment of malaria diagnosis and treatment,Hongze District gained the highest average score of 20 points, and Huai'an District got the lowest average score of 18.8 points. The malaria elimination assessment scores of the eight counties(districts) were all above 97 points. All the 8 counties(districts)in Huai'an City passed the malaria elimination assessment at county(dis-trict)level until 2016. Conclusions All the 8 counties(districts)in Huai'an City have passed the malaria elimination assess-ment with high scores. After the malaria elimination, the monitoring still should continue to consolidate the achievement.

Distant metastasis is one of the main obstacles to cancer treatment.Overexpression of S1PR1 in malignant tumors enhances cell invasion and migration activity, mediates EMT and induces lymphangiogenesis and angiogenesis via activation of its downstream signaling pathways, eventually results in the occurrence of tumor metastasis.S1PR1 is also closely related to generation of acquired radiotherapy resistance. This article discusses the roles of S1PR1 in tumor metastasis and radiotherapy resistance.

Objective:To observe the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and aquaporin 4 (AQP4) in the inner limiting membrane (ILM) of diabetic retinopathy (DR) with macular edema, and analyze the correlation between VEGF and AQP4 expression. Methods:A cross-sectional study. From September 2019 to September 2020, 38 eyes of 38 patients with DR and idiopathic macular hole (iMH) who underwent vitrectomy (PPV) combined with ILM stripping at the Hangzhou campus of The Affiliated Eye Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University at Hangzhou were included in the study. Among them, there were 25 males and 13 females who aged 37-76 years old, average age was 59±10 years old; All eye included 15 right eyes and 23 left eyes. iMH and DR included 9 eyes in 9 cases and 29 eyes in 29 cases, respectively, and they were divided into iMH group and DR group. The DR group was divided into DME group and no DME group according to whether it was accompanied by diabetic macular edema (DME), with 14 eyes and 15 eyes respectively. After the stripped ILM tissue was fixed, immunofluorescence analysis was performed to obtain a picture of the fluorescence mode of AQP4 and VEGF, and the fluorescence intensity value of VEGF and AQP4 was measured by Image J software. The differences of VEGF and AQP4 immunofluorescence values in the specimens between groups were compared by one-way analysis of variance. The correlation between the fluorescence intensity of AQP4 and the fluorescence intensity of VEGF was analyzed by Pearson correlation analysis. Results:The average fluorescence intensity valuesof VEGF and AQP4 in ILM specimens of DME group, no DME group and iMH group were 38.96±7.53, 28.25±3.12, 30.07±4.84 and 49.07±8.73, 37.96±6.45, 38.08±5.04, respectively. The average fluorescence intensity of VEGF and AQP4 in the ILM specimens of the DME group was significantly higher than that of the no DME group and iMH group, and the difference was statistically significant ( F=13.977, 9.454; P<0.05). The average fluorescence intensity values of VEGF and AQP4 on IML specimens in the DR group were 33.80±7.91, 43.76±9.44, respectively. The results of Pearson correlation analysis showed that the fluorescence intensity of VEGF and AQP4 in the ILM specimens of the DR group was significantly positively correlated ( r=0.597, P=0.003). Conclusions:The expressions of VEGF and AQP4 in ILM of eyes with DR and DME are significantly increased compared with those without DME. The expression of VEGF and AQP4 in ILM of eyes with DR is positively correlated.

The clinical data of a case with late-onset isolated sulfite oxidase deficiency(ISOD)admitted in the Department of Neurology, Children′s Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine in July 2021 were retrospectively analyzed.Fifteen previously published cases of late-onset ISOD were also reviewed. The patient was a girl, who was hospitalized because of " motor regression with mental retardation for 5 days" at 1 year old.The manifestations of the patient were extrapyramidal symptoms, regression of motor development and seizures. The level of urinary sulfites in the patient was increased.Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features were bilateral pallidus and substantia nigra.Gene sequencing suggested a pure missense mutation of the sulfite oxidase( SUOX) gene c. 650(exon5)G>A(p.Arg217Gln). In 16 cases of late-onset ISOD, the median age at onset and diagnosis was 10.5 months and 34.0 months, respectively. The common clinical manifestations were hypotonia (13 cases), seizures (10 cases), movement disorders (9 cases), and ectopia lentis (6 cases). The most common brain MRI feature was pallidus changes (11 cases), followed by lesions of substantia nigra (5 cases), and cerebral atrophy (4 cases). Fourteen cases of late-onset ISOD showed a positive urinary sulfite test. The missense mutation of the SUOX gene was found in 9 cases. It suggested that brain MRI involvement of bilateral pallidus, high excretion of urine sulfites and the missense mutation of the SUOX gene were important diagnostic clues for late-onset ISOD.

School-age children are in a specific development stage corresponding to juvenility, when the white matter of the brain experiences ongoing maturation. Diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DWI), especially diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), is extensively used to characterize the maturation by assessing white matter properties in vivo. In the analysis of DWI data, spatial normalization is crucial for conducting inter-subject analyses or linking the individual space with the reference space. Using tensor-based registration with an appropriate diffusion tensor template presents high accuracy regarding spatial normalization. However, there is a lack of a standardized diffusion tensor template dedicated to school-age children with ongoing brain development. Here, we established the school-age children diffusion tensor (SACT) template by optimizing tensor reorientation on high-quality DTI data from a large sample of cognitively normal participants aged 6-12 years. With an age-balanced design, the SACT template represented the entire age range well by showing high similarity to the age-specific templates. Compared with the tensor template of adults, the SACT template revealed significantly higher spatial normalization accuracy and inter-subject coherence upon evaluation of subjects in two different datasets of school-age children. A practical application regarding the age associations with the normalized DTI-derived data was conducted to further compare the SACT template and the adult template. Although similar spatial patterns were found, the SACT template showed significant effects on the distributions of the statistical results, which may be related to the performance of spatial normalization. Looking forward, the SACT template could contribute to future studies of white matter development in both healthy and clinical populations. The SACT template is publicly available now ( https://figshare.com/articles/dataset/SACT_template/14071283 ).
