Objective To observe curative effects of biological amnion transplantation to treat the huge pterygium.Methods 86 eyes were divided into two groups randomly(by random number table).Group A were eyes treated with cutting the pterygium and uncovered sclarel wound.Group B were eyes treated with biological amnion which had been transplanted on scleral wound and all conea after the pterygium had cut.The irritative symptoms,heal time of corneal wound,relapse rate after half year were recorded.Results Its mild irritative symptoms such as foreign body sensation,photophobia and pain in group B were lighter than those in group A(χ2 =6.08,P =0.01,χ2 =31.40, P =0.00,χ2 =14.18,P =0.00).The time of corneal wound heal was 5.21 ±0.89 days in group A and it was (4.02 ± 0.71)days in group B.The statistic was significant(t =6.85,P =0.00).There was no significant difference in relapse rate after half year between group A and group B(χ2 =1.40,P =0.24).Conclusion Biological amnion transplantation can alleviating irritative symptoms and shortening heal time in huge pterygium operation.

BACKGROUND: Undergraduates from military medical universities face many psychological stresses. Poor coping style might affect the status of mental health. Mental health might also be associated with social support and personality.OBJECTIVE: To investigate the correlation of social support and coping style with mental health among undergraduates from military medical universities.DESIGN: Cluster sampling and questionnaire investigation.SETTING: The Center of Basic Medicine Eexperiment, School of Basic Medicine and School of Preventive Medicine of Fourth Military Medical University of Chinese PLA, and Xi'an Hospital of Sports Trauma.PARTICIPANTS: Totally 352 freshmen of a military medical university were chosen by cluster sampling in October 2004 as the subjects.METHODS: Investigationwas performed on subjects with Symptom checklist-90 (SCL-90), social support rating scale (SSRS), coping style questionnaire (CSQ) and revised Eysenck's personality questionnaires short scale for Chinese (EPQ-RSC).SCL-90 consists of 90 items, including 10 factors. SSRS consists of subjective support, objective support and the utilization of support 3 factors as well as total score of social support. CSQ consists of problem solving, self-reproach, asking for help, keeping out of the way, fancy, rationalization 6 factors. EPQ-RSC mainly consisted of extraversion-introversion (E), neuroticism (N), psychoticism/tough mindedness (P) and lie/social diserability (L) 4 dimensions. Data were performed statistical management with t test and correlation analysis.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ①Comparison of the scores of various factors of social support, coping style and personality among undergraduates with different mental health levels from military medical universities. ② Correlation of different social supports, copying styles and personalities with SCL-90. ③ Comparison of scores of mental health,coping style and personality of military medical undergraduates under different social supports.RESULTS: Totally 352 questionnaires were handed out and all of them were retrieved and eligible, with responding rate of 100%. ① The total scores of SRSS were taken as the grouping index, and 25% of the undergraduates who had the highest scores and the lowest scores were respectively chosen as severe symptom group and mild symptom group.Total scores of social support, subjective support and the utilization of support were higher in the mild symptom group than in the severe symptom group, but no difference in the objective support existed between two groups; Compared with mild symptom group, self-reproach, fancy, keeping out of the way and other immature coping styles were more significantly used, but asking for help was less, the scores of E were lower, but those of N were higher in the severe symptom group. ② Various factors of mental health were significantly negatively correlated with the total scores of support, the utilization of support, asking for help, E and L (r=-0.131 to -0.306 ,P ＜ 0.05 or P ＜ 0.01 ), but positively correlated with self-reproach,fancy, keeping out of the way, rationalization and N (r=0.141-0.450, P＜ 0.05 or P ＜ 0.01). ③ Total scores of support was used as the grouping index, 27% of the subjects who had the highest scores and lowest scores were chosen respectively as high support group and low support group.Mental health level was superior in the high support group to in the low support group; Most of the undergraduates of high support group preferred active coping styles, and those of low support group preferred passive coping styles; Scores of E of high support group were higher than those of low support group, and the scores of N and P were lower than those of low support group (P ＜ 0.05).CONCLUSION: Social support, coping style and EPQ-RSC interact and co-influence mental health.

Objective To observe the expression of GATA-3 and IL-13 in mice with radiationinduced lung fibrosis,and to study the function of GATA-3.Methods A total of 63 C57BL/6 female mice were randomly into 2 groups,including 21 mice in control group and 42 mice in irradiated group.The thoraces of mice in irradiated group were exposed with 12 Gy of X-rays.All the mice were sacrificed at 1 h,and 1,2,4,8,16 and 24 weeks post-irradiation.The lung issues were stained by using HE and Masson methods to determine the histological changes.The expression of IL-13 in serum,and the expression of hydroxyproline and the mRNA and protein of GATA-3 in lung tissue were assayed.Results Compared with control group,there was a significant histological and pathologic change in irradiated group.The content of hydroxyproline in irradiated group was significantly higher than that in control group( Z =3.14,P ＜0.05).The expressions of GATA-3 and IL-13 were found in mice post-irradiation.Without causing conspicuous fibrotic pathological changes,there was a significantly elevated expression of Th2-specific transcription factor GATA-3 mRNA at 1 and 2 weeks post-irradiation ( t =6.50,6.33,P ＜ 0.01 ),while the expression of IL-13 reached the maximal value in serum at 16 weeks post-irradiation( t =32.21,P ＜0.01 ).Conclusions GATA-3 might play a role in promoting radiation-induced pulmonary fibrosis by upregulation of expression of Th2 cytokine IL-13.

To elucidate the molecular characteristics of the hemagglutinin (HA) genes of H5N1 subtype of avian influenza viruses in the boundary region of Yunnan province. Of 420 samples were collected from the foreign poultry in boundary region of Yunnan province during 2003 to 2008 and these samples were subjected to screening by H5/N1 subtype-specific and multiplex RT-PCR. testing. The HA genes of H5N1 viruses from positive samples were amplified by RT-PCR and cloned into vector pMD18 T for subsequent sequencing. The alignment with sequences of the known reference strains and phylogenetic analysis were then performed. The genes from 21 representative positive samples with 4 different sequences at the cleavage site were obtained and all of them possessed the molecular characteristic of highly pathogenic avian influenza virus. The mutation of key amino acids had been found among receptor-binding sites, potential glycosylation sites and neutralizing epitopes.-Phylogenetic analysis showed those positive samples could be divided into 5 distinct clades, including clade 1, 2.4. 2.3.2, 2.3.4 and 7. It is evident that H5N1 viruses from the foreign boundary region of Yunnan province in 2003 to 2008 show genetic divergence and clade 2,3,4 is the dominant clade in this region.

ObjectiveTo investigate the CT number linearity of the cone-beam CT (CBCT) images at the different spatial locations in the scanning area.MethodsThe CatphanS04 phantom at the different locations are scanned repeatcdly using the CBCT on the Varian 23EX linear accelerator.The phantom is located the isocenter point,eccentric 3 cm,eccentric 6 cm,and different points on the z-axis successively on the accelerator.The scanned mode is the standard head mode.The reconstructive thickness is 2.5 cm.The different densities inserts of CTP404 module on the different locations are measured via Eclips treatment planning system (TPS) and computed by Matlab 7.0 and the CT linear fitting are then processed.In order to understand better the linear distribution along with the value of CT in the spatial distribution the results are compared with the fan-beam CT.ResultsPhantom studies show that:CBCT has good linearity performance not only under the standard header (body) of the scanning conditions,but also on such locations including the cross-sectional,the sagittal,the coronal plane and the eccentric position ( R2 ＞ 0.953 ).Bowtie filtration device does not change the CT finearity but changes the value of CT.ConclusionsThe linearity of X-ray CBCT on the Varian linear accelerator is favorable.CBCT will be used in the TPS dose calculation via further correction of the CT value.

Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the protein expression of Snail in 5 specimens jusxta-eancerous normal breast tissues, 35 specimens of cancerous tissues without metastasis and 20 specimens of breast carcinoma with lymphonode metastasis. Breast carcinoma cell line MDA-MB-231 was transfected with antisense Snail. Results showed that the expression of Snail protein was significantly higher in breast carcinomas than in their normal tissues. The mRNA and protein expressions of Snail in the breast carcinoma cells treated with antisense Snail was significantly decreased while the E-cadherin protein significantly increased (both P < 0.05). The number of invasive ceils treated with antisense Snail was (10.5±1.3)%, while in treated with EGFP was (68.2±2.1)% (P < 0.05). The abnormal expression of Snail contribute to the invasiveness of breast carcinoma. The antisense Snail could prevent the cells ability to invade in vitro, and the effect is related with the up-regulated E-cadherin protein.

Objective To compare the analytical result of different kinds of film dose analysis software for the same gamma knife,analyze the reasons of difference caused,and explore the measurements and means for quality control and quality assurance during testing gamma knife and analyzing its result.Methods To test the Moon Deity gamma knife with Kodak EDR2 film and γ-Star gamma knife with GAFCHROMIC(R) EBT film,respectively.All the validation films are scanned to proper imagine format for dose analysis software by EPSON PERFECTION V750 PRO scanner.Then imagines of Moon Deity gamma knife are analyzed with Robot Knife Adjuvant 1.09 and Fas-09 1.0,and imagines of γ-Star gamma knife with Fas-09 and MATLAB 7.0.Results There is no significant difference in the maximum deviation of radiation field size ( Full Width at Half Maximum,FWHM) and its nominal value between Robot Knife Adjuvant and Fas-09 for Moon Deity gamma knife (t = -2.133,P ＞0.05).The analysis on the radiation field' s penumbra region width of collimators which have different sizes indicated that the differences are significant (t = - 8.154,P ＜ 0.05 ).There is no significant difference in the maximum deviation of FWHM and its nominal value between Fas-09 and MATLAB for γ-Star gamma knife ( t = - 1.384,P ＞0.05 ).However,following national standards,analysis of φ4 mm width of collimators can obtain different results according to the two kinds software,and the result of Fas-09 is not qualified while MATLAB is qualified.The analysis on the radiation field' s penumbra region width of collimators which have different sizes indicates that the differences are significant ( t = 3.074,P ＜ 0.05 ).The imagines are processed with Fas-09.The analysis of imagine in the pre-and the post-processing indicates that there is no significant difference in the maximum deviation of FWHM and its nominal value ( t = 0.647,P ＞ 0.05 ),and the analytical result of the radiation field' s penumbra region width indicates that there is no significant difference as well ( t = -0.627,P ＞ 0.05 ).Conclusion The study shows that different kinds of film dose analysis software may have some differences in analysis of the same gamma knife validation film,and the results may lead to the different decisions in accordance with national standard.

Objective To analyze the features of health economics in the treatment of leukemia;To evaluate the improvement trend of levels of clinical diagnosis, treatment and management. Methods TCM medical information dtatabase and electronic medical system in Zhejing Province TCM Hospital from January 2010 to December 2015 were retrived. According to inclusion and exclusion criteria, leukemia patients’ materials that met the critiria were screened. The total hospitalization fees, cost of Western medicine, the cost of Chinese patent medicine, cost of TCM decoction pieces, and cost of blood transfusion were set as costs, while white blood cell count, hemoglobin concentration, and platelet count were set as effectiveness indicators for cost effectiveness analysis. Results In patients with low white blood cell count increased unit white blood cell count, patients with high white blood cell count declined unit white blood cell count, patients with low hemoglobin increased unit hemoglobin count and patients with low platelet count increased unit platelet count, the total hospitalization fees, cost of Western medicine, the cost of Chinese patent medicine, cost of TCM decoction pieces, and blood transfusionfor the above increases showed a decreasing trend. Conclusion Health economics advantages in three blood routine indicators after treatment of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine for leukemia is increasing year by year.

To observe the dynamic change of parasites in the brains of BALB/c mice infected with Angiostrongylus cantonensis in order to explore its possible mechanism of pathogenesis', BALB/c mice infected with the III stage larvae of A.cantonensis were observed and killed in different times after infection. The number and distribution of parasites in the brains of the infected mice were observed microscopically and macroscopically. It was found that the larvae of A.cantonensis were distributed in the cerebrum and cerebellum of mice in accordance with the rule of parasitization of worms in the host, i.e.multiplication at first and then dropping in number. And the places where the parasites located were damaged due to mechanical action or inflammatory reactions. The time of onset of symptoms, such as ataxia and twitch was coincided with the dynamic changes in the brains of the infected mice.

Objective To evaluate cytotoxic effects of cytokine-induced killer cells (CIK cells) transfected with the interleukin-2 (IL-2) gene on malignant melanoma cells.Methods Mouse spleen cells were extracted,lymphocyte cells were separated,and CIK cells were prepared from these lymphocyte cells.PEGF-N1 plasmids containing IL-2 gene (PEGF-NI-IL-2) were transfected into CIK cells.Fluorescence microscopy was used to observe transfection products,and reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was conducted to determine the IL-2 mRNA expression.Then,effector cells such as CIK cells and IL-2-transfected CIK cells were separately co-cultured with target cells (B16 melanoma cells) at effector-target ratios of 10∶ 1,20∶1 and 40∶1,then 4-hour lactate dehydrogenase release assay was performed to evaluate cytotoxic effects of the two kinds of CIK cells on B 16 cells.After effector cells were cocultured with target cells at the effector-target ratio of 40∶1 for 48 hours,enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was conducted to detect levels of IL-2,interferon-γ (IFN-γ) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in the supernatant of the two kinds of CIK cells.Finally,mouse models of melanoma were established,and a total of 28 melanoma-bearing mice were divided into 4 groups to be peritumorally injected with 0.2 ml sodium chloride physiological solution (control group),100 IU IL-2 solution (IL-2 group),CIK cell suspension at a cell density of 1 × 106 cells per milliliter (CIK group) and IL-2-transfected CIK cell suspension at a cell density of 1 × 106 cells per milliliter (IL-2-transfected CIK group) respectively.Tumor morphology,tumor inhibition rate and cell apoptosis rate were used to evaluate tumor growth in the above groups.If data were normally distributed,t-test was used for comparing means between two groups,and analysis of variance and least significant difference (LSD)-t test were used for comparing means among multiple groups.Results Fluorescence microscopy and RT-PCR both showed that IL-2 was successfully transfected into CIK cells.The cytotoxic effect of IL-2-transfected CIK cells on B16 cells was strongest at the effector-target ratio of 40:1.Levels of IL-2,IFN-γ and TNF-α were also significantly higher in the supernatant of IL-2-transfected CIK cells [(1107.26 ± 6.49) pg/ml,(50.01 ± 3.35) pg/ml,(39.86 ± 3.25) pg/ml] than those in that of CIK cells [(51.09 ± 3.85) pg/ml,(32.71 ± 2.43) pg/ml,(30.11 ± 3.08) pg/ml,t =442.60,14.93,6.89,all P ＜ 0.01].Animal experiments showed that the tumor volume obviously increased in the control group (P ＜ 0.05),but significantly decreased in the IL-2 group,CIK group and IL-2-transfected CIK group (all P ＜ 0.001) after intervention compared with those before intervention.Furthermore,the tumor volume in the IL-2-transfected CIK group was significantly less than that in the other three groups (all P ＜ 0.01),but no significant difference was observed between the IL-2 group and CIK group (P ＞ 0.05).In addition,the apoptosis rate was significantly higher in the IL-2 group,CIK group,and IL-2-transfeeted CIK group than that in the control group (all P ＜ 0.01).The apoptosis rate and tumor inhibition rate were significantly higher in the IL-2-transfected CIK group than those in the IL-2 group and CIK group (all P ＜ 0.01),but insignificantly different between the IL-2 group and CIK group (P ＞ 0.05).Conclusion IL-2-transfected CIK cells had stronger killing effects on malignant melanoma.
