Objective To explore the epidemiological characteristics of malaria in Liaoning Province from 1951 to 2014,so as to provide the evidence for further control of the disease. Methods The data of registered malaria cases in Liaoning Province from 1951 to 2014 were collected and analyzed with epidemiological methods. Results From 1951 to 2014,there were report-ed malaria cases each year. The peaks of incidence were in 1953,1962 and 1973,the incidence rates were 136.67/100000, 256.81/100000 and 35.89/100000 respectively and the numbers of patients were 27862,65460 and 11523,respectively. From 1977 to 2014,the incidence rates were all less than 1/100000. From 1951 to 1980,the occupations of patients were main-ly farmers, and from 1981 to 2014 were mainly workers, farmers and exported laborers. Conclusion The malaria endemic situ-ation in Liaoning Province experienced the periods from outbreaks to basically elimination, and the long-term surveillance will be the further working emphasis.

BACKGROUND:Studies have shown that the finite element method could preferably simulate the biomechanical analysis for the object with complicated structures and irregular shapes. The similarities for the finite element model have great influences on the results of the analysis. However, to construct an ideal model is the most time-consuming and complicated portion for the finite element analysis. OBJECTIVE:To construct a finite element model for the maxilary first molar and the periodontal tissue, and to provide a basis of biomechanical researches of the maxilary first molar. METHODS: A volunteer with complete mandibular dentition and healthy periodontal tissue was selected in this study. Cone-beam CT was scanned. The images were saved as DICOM format. These images were imported to the medical modeling software Mimics. The surface model for the maxilary first molar and the alveolar bone was constructed. The model was then imported to GiD for pre-processing. Thus, the complete three-dimensional finite element model for the maxilary first molar and the periodontal tissue was constructed. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:A finite element model for bilateral maxilary first molar, periodontal ligament and maxilary alveolar bone was constructed, including 896 035 nodes and 4 881 067 elements. This model has restored the geometric shape and the structure of the research object. This study successfuly constructed finite element models of maxilary first molar and the periodontal tissue, which can be a basis of biomechanical researches for the maxilary first molar and the periodontal tissue under the effect of different clinical orthodontic forces.

Objective To identify differences in the anal sphincter surface electromyography (sEMG)variables in spinal cord injury (SCI) subjects with different severities. Methods One hundred and ten SCI patients' impairments were classified as ASIA A,B,C or D using the International Standards for the Neurological Classification of Spinal Cord Injury. The evaluation was pedormed using sEMG equipment with an inserted anal sensor electrode and the Glazer pelvic floor muscle sEMG protocol. The sEMG variables were recorded and compared. Results There was no significant difference in sEMG variables between groups A and B,but the mean and maximum sEMG values of groups C and D in flick contractions ( 1 s),tonic contractions ( 10 s),and endurance contractions (60 s) were significantly higher than those of group A.Compared with group C,the mean and maximum sEMG values of group D were all significantly higher. Conclusions The sEMG data from the anal sphincter during contractions decreases significantly after SCI.Glazer's pelvic floor muscle sEMG protocol is a noninvasive and convenient real-time assessment. It is a useful complementary tool for quantitative assessment of the pelvic floor muscles of SCI patients.

Objective To study the frequency of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) with multi-genetic alteration, and its correlation with c-myc, bcl-2 and bcl-6 protein expression. Methods 50 cases diagnosed with DLBCL from January 2012 to December 2016 were collected. The expression of c-myc, bcl-2 and bcl-6 was analyzed by immunohistochemistry. Interphase fluorescence in situ hybridization (I-FISH) analysis was performed to identify the genetic alteration of c-myc, bcl-2 and bcl-6. Results In all cases, there were 27 males and 23 females with a median age of 50 years (range: 3-85 years). 23 (46.00 %) cases were defined as primary nodal DLBCL and 27 (54.00 %) cases were primary extra-nodal DLBCL, with gastrointestinal tract (48.15 %, 13/27) being the most common site of involvement. c-myc protein expression was detected in 94.00 % (47/50) cases, in which 82.00 % (41/47) cases exhibited high levels of c-myc expression with positive nuclear staining observed in over 40.00 % of tumor cells. The positive rate of bcl-2 protein was 84.00 % (42/50), 76 % (38/50) cases presented with high-level bcl-2 expression. Concurrent high expression of c-myc and bcl-2 were presented in 18 cases (36.00%). FISH analysis demonstrated c-myc gene rearrangement in 7 cases (14.00 %) and amplification in 2 cases (4.00 %). bcl-2 gene rearrangement was detected in 6 cases (12.00 %) and 4 cases (8.00 %) exhibited gene amplification. bcl-6 gene rearrangement was identified in 8 cases (16.00%), amplification in 3 cases (6.00%), and 1 case concomitantly harbored the rearrangement and amplification of bcl-6. Multi-genetic alterations were defined in 4 cases with 3 cases fulfilling the criteria for double-hit lymphoma (DHL) and 1 case for triple-hit lymphoma (THL). For the cases with concomitant high-level expression of c-myc and bcl-2 proteins, 3 cases (16.67 %) was detected with multi-genetic alterations, including 2 cases for DHL and 1 case for THL. Conclusions The proportion of DLBCL with multi-genetic alterations is 8.00 % in this study. The genetic alterations are not consistently correlated with the protein expression. The molecular genetic testing is reliable for the identification of DHL.

Objective To explore the clinical features, diagnosi s and prognosis of incontinentia pigmenti. Methods Analyzing and summarizing the clinical characteristic, diagnosis and prognosis of neonatal incontinentia pigmenti in 6 neonatal infants that were hospita- lized in our department during the period from January 1 998 to December 2003 were studied, and some relevant literature were reviewed. Results 1.Three of 6 infants were male which was unusual;2.Four infants had typical skin lesions at birth and 1 case at 6 days old.Four cases had typical 3 stages o f skin lesions including the erythematous and vesicular inflammatory stage, verr ucous lesions and hyperkeratosis stage, macular hyperpigmentation stage, but the re was overlap;3.Four infants were complicated by central nervous system involv ement (two cases presented mental retardation,2 infants were temporary damage). Two cases were complicated by ocular manifestations ( one case had optical nerve atrophy and blind in left eye,the other had severe bilateral retinal lesions); 4.On specific examination 5 infants were diagnosed by skin biopsy.Gene analysis was made in 1 case, but we didn′t find the mutations of NEMO. Conclusions Incontinentia pigmenti is a rare X-linked dominant multisystem disease. It may be misdiagnosed in the initial stages.Except typical clinical features, skin biops y and gene analysis are main evidence for diagnosis.Early detection and interven tion are important for prognosis.
