3.Effect of Reinforcing Kidney and Activating Blood Therapy on Apoptosis of Rat Models with Endometriosis
Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 1993;0(02):-
Objective To study the mechanism of reinforcing kidney and activating blood therapy for the apoptosis of endometriosis. Methods Female SD rats aged 8~12weeks were grouped as model group, western medicine group,Chinese medicine group and integrated Chinese and western medicine group, with 15 in each group. The light microscope, electron microscope,TUNEL method, and immunohistochemical method were adopted to observe the pathomorphology, positive rate of apoptotic cells and the positive expression of apoptosis-regulating gene bcl-2 and bax. Results The apoptosis of endometriosis tissues in the integrated Chinese and western medicine group was the most obvious result with the highest apoptosis index, and the positive expression of apoptosis regulating gene bcl-2 was downward regulated and that of apoptosis regulating gene bax upward regulated,so bcl-2/bax decreased. Then it was Chinese medicine group, western medicine group, and model group. Conclusion The occurrence of endometriosis is related with the lowering of ability of apoptotic cells.Chinese medicines with the functions to reinforce kidney and activate blood can promote the ability of apoptotic cells in endometriosis to quicken the atrophy and regression of endometriosis tissues.
4. The efficacies of hyaluronidase and hirudoid on skin extravasation damage caused by vinorelbine in rats
Tumor 2007;27(6):433-436
Objective: To explore the preventive efficacy of local injection of hyaluronidase and topical administration of Hirudoid cream against skin damage caused by vinorelbine extravasation in rats. Methods: Vinorelbine was iv infused into the hinder limbs of SD rats to establish the extravasation model. The 48 rats were randomly divided into 6 groups. The model group received no treatment. The other five groups were given local injection of hyaluronidase, topical administration of Hirudoid cream, local injection of hyaluronidase plus topical administration of Hirudoid cream, local injection of normal saline (NS), or topical administration of normal saline, respectively. The lesion area and the healing time were observed and recorded on d 1, d 4, d 8, d 12, d 18, d 24, and d 30. Results: The lesions were cured by local injection of hyaluronidase on d 30. The lesion area were significantly reduced in hyaluronidase group compared with that in topical Hirudoid cream group, combined therapy group, local NS injection group, topical NS administration group, and the model group on d 1, d 4, d 8, d 12, d 18 and d 24 (P < 0.05). The healing time was significantly shorter in hyaluronidase group than that in other 5 groups [(21.9 ± 3.0) d vs (28.8 ± 3.5) d, (28.0 ± 2.9) d, (28.6 ± 4.1) d, (29.8 ± 2.6) d, and (30. 6 ± 3.0) d, P < 0.01]. Conclusion: Local injection of hyaluronidase is effective for skin damage caused by vinorelbine extravasation, but topical administration of Hirudoid cream is ineffective and combined therapy can not further improve the efficacy of hyaluronidase monotherapy.

"Omics" and bioinformatics have brought new ideas to the study of traditional Chinese medicine. This study used metabonomics and network pharmacology to investigate the pharmacodynamic basis and regulation of Qishen Yiqi dropping pill (QDP) improving cardiac energy metabolism in rats with heart failure (HF). 1H NMR metabonomics analysis showed that eight metabolites, including carnitine, glutamine, creatine, proline, homocitrulline, lactic acid, taurine and alanine appeared significant callback after QDP treatment for HF. The results indicate that QDP regulates the metabolism of carbohydrate, lipid, ATP and protein. The animal experiment was conducted in accordance with the regulations of the Ethics Committee for Experimental Animal Management and Animal Welfare of Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. A "drug-component-target-disease" network was established using network pharmacology, and the "component-target" sub-network related to the above energy metabolism processes was extracted by combining metabonomics results. Results revealed 79 chemical compounds and 47 potential targets of QDP involved in the regulation of energy metabolism, and identified key chemical components including ursolic acid, notoginsenoside G, ginsenoside-Rh1, and core targets such as INS, PPARG, and AKT1. The results also demonstrated the complex multi-target and multi-component relationship between QDP and HF from the perspective of energy metabolism. The molecular docking technique verified a strong interaction between some targets and chemical compounds, with affinities less than -5 kcal·mol-1. The results of this study provide useful information for the clinical application, development, and utilization of QDP.

Hepatic eosinophilic granuloma is a rare benign liver lesion, which results from granuloma formation due to chronic inflammation. Two patients were admitted to the Yantaishan Hospital and Yuhuangding Hospital from July 2008 to April 2012,respectively.The results of laboratory examination showed the elevation of peripheral blood eosinophils, and ultrasound examinations revealed low-echo masses in the liver and no blood flow was detected. The results of computed tomography showed hypoattenuation lesions with well-demarcated boundary. After intravenous administration of contrast angent, the lesions demostrated delayed heterogeneous enhancement with internal grid. The results of magnetic resonance imaging of 1 patient showed the lesion had slight hyper-intensity to the surrounding liver parenchyma on T1-weighted images, and slight high signal with low signal separation strip inside on fat-suppressed T2-weighted images. An obvious high signal was detected in diffusion weighted imaging.Familiarity with the imaging characteristics and combination of the elevation of peripheral eosinophil can help surgeons to make a suggestive diagnosis.

BACKGROUND:Lightweight polypropylene mesh with lower content of polypropylene is added with some absorbable ingredients, and wil these ingredients cause adverse reactionsin vivo?
OBJECTIVE:To compare the effect of lightweight polypropylene mesh and standard polypropylene mesh on tension-freerepair ofinguinal hernia.
METHODS:Forty patients with inguinal hernia were randomly divided into two groups (n=20 per group):the patients were treated by lightweight polypropylene mesh as experimental group andthose treated by standard polypropylene mesh ascontrol group. At 2 daysafter surgery, white blood cel counts, neutrophils percentage and level of C-reactive protein were detected. Furthermore, pain scores as wel as discomfort incidence and complications were assessed and recorded at 2 days, 1, 3 and 6 months after surgery, respectively.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:There were no significant differences in postoperative complications between two groups. White blood cel counts and neutrophils percentage in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P< 0.05), butthelevel of C-reactive protein had no significant difference. Besides, pain scores had no significant differencebetween the two groups, but the postoperative discomfort incidence in the experimental group was significantly decreasedcompared with the control group (P< 0.05). In conclusion, lightweight polypropylene mesh can reduce postoperative inflammation and discomfort incidence.

Cisplatin is effective in the treatment of various solid tumors. However, its clinical application is limited because of the severe side-effects such as nephrotoxicity, hepatotoxicity, ototoxicity and so on. Drug combination is advocated in clinics for synergism and detoxication. In order to provide some referencs for the research of drug combination and clinical treatment regimen, the research advances in the synergism and detoxication of drug combination of cisplatin with chemicals/ traditional Chinese medicines in recent years are reviewed in the paper.
