Lung cancer has the highest morbidity and mortality rate among malignant tumors. Early diagnosis and effective treat-ment are the keys to improving the survival of lung cancer patients. A type of endogenous, highly conserved, non-coding small mole-cule RNA (i.e., miRNA) was found to play an important role in the occurrence and development of this disease. Research on this molec-ular marker miRNA for the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of lung cancer has rapidly progressed. This paper reviews the research work on miRNA as a molecular marker in the early diagnosis, treatment efficacy, and prognosis of lung cancer and explores some ques-tions related to this disease.

Objective To explore the effect of early administration of alendronate (ALN) and pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMFs) on bone mass of rats after spinal cord injury(SCI). Methods Sixty-two healthy female SD rats aged 3 months were randomly allocated into 5 groups: a Sham group, a SCI group, a SCI+ALN group, a SCI+PEMFs group and a SCI+PEMFs+ALN group. Rats in the Sham group underwent laminectomy, while the rats in the other 4 groups underwent complete spinal cord transection, and the remained 3 groups were treated with ALN and/or PEMFs 1 week after SCI. All rats were sacrificed 8 weeks after operation. The bone mineral density(BMD), biomechanical parameters of the femurs, and histomorphometric parameters of proximal tibias were mea-sured, respectively. The data were analyzed with one way-ANOVA and factorial design-ANOVA. Results After early treatment of ALN and/or PEMFs, the BMD of femur was significantly increased as compared with that of rats in the SCI group; the elastic load, maximal load of femur were significantly increased as compared with those of rats in the SCI group; the percent trabecular bone area and trabecular bone width of tibias were significantly increased when compared to those of rats in the SCI group. Conclusion Early treatments of ALN and PEMFs can reduce the loss of bone, improve biomechanical properties of the femur, and inhibit the decay of microstructure of upper part of tibia. The study suggests that ALN and PEMFs may help prevent osteoporosis after SCI.

Objective To investigate the analysis of collateral circulation in patients with acute symptomatic internal carotid artery occlusion (ICAO)and its clinical significance. Methods Seventy-two consecutive patients with symptomatic ICAO diagnosed by digital subtraction angiography (DSA)were enrolled retrospectively. The American Society of Intervention and Treatment Neuroradiology / Society of Interventional Radiology (ASITN/ SIR)scores were used to evaluate the collateral circulation in the region of ICAO,and the collateral circulation of the patients with different causes, different clinical manifestations, and different types of infarcts were compared. Results Of the 72 patients with ICAO,61(84. 7%)had atherosclerotic occlusion,8(11. 1%)had cervical dissection, and 3 (4. 2%)had cardioembolism;55 patients (76. 4%)had cerebral infarction and 17(23. 6%)had transient ischemic attack. There were no significant differences in the ASITN/ SIR scores among the different causes (P > 0. 05). The ASITN/ SIR scores in patients with cerebral infarction and transient ischemic attack were 2. 64 ± 0. 80 and 3. 29 ± 0. 69 respectively. There was significant difference (P < 0. 05). In patients with cerebral infarction, the ASITN/SIR scores in patients with internal watershed infarction and regional cerebral infarction only were 2. 43 ± 0. 68 and 2. 36 ±0. 51 respectively, they were lower than the patients with only external watershed infarction only and/ or cerebral infarction in cortical territory (3. 42 ±0. 90,P <0. 05). Conclusion Atherosclerotic occlusion is the most common cause of ICAO. ASITN / SIR scores may reflect the conditions of collateral circulation in patients with ICAO. The occurrence of internal watershed infarction and regional infarction indicates the collateral circulation is poor, and need for further therapeutic intervention.

ObjectiveTo observe the effect of early administration of alendronate on bone mineral density and biomechanical properties of the femur of spinal cord injuried rats.Methods36 3-month-old female SD rats were randomly divided into the Sham group, SCI group and SCI+ALN group. Rats in the Sham group underwent a sham procedure. Rats in the SCI group and in SCI+ALN group underwent spinal cord transection at the level of the tenth thoracic vertebra. Rats in the SCI+ALN group were injected with alendronate intraperitoneally 1 week after SCI, three times a week. All rats were sacrificed 8 week after operation. Bone mineral density and biomechanical properties of the femur were measured, respectively.ResultsBone mineral density and biomechanical properties of the femur changed significantly after spinal cord transection. After the treatment of alendronate injection, bone mineral density of the femur in the SCI+ALN group was significantly increased compared with that of the SCI group(P<0.01). Elastic loading and maximal loading of the femur in the SCI+ALN group was significantly increased compared with that of the SCI group(P<0.01). Maximal stress was significantly increased compared with that of the SCI group(P<0.05). ConclusionThe rats 8 week after spinal cord transection can be used in osteoporotic research following SCI. Early administration of ALN after SCI can inhibit bone resorption, improve biomechanical properties of the femur of spinal cord injured rats so as to prevent the development of osteoporosis and osteoporotic fracture.

ObjectiveTo compare and analyze conventional plan and inverse optimized plan in dosemetric of cervical cancer. MethodTwenty cases of cervical cancer treated with combination radical radiotherapy of EBT were selected, every case had two plans: one was conventional plan based A point prescription dose, the other was inverse optimized plan (IPSA, inverse planning with simulated annealing)based volume object dose.ResultsIPSA plans provided better values compared with the conventional plans in 90% prescription dose volume V90[ (94 ± 15 )% vs. (60 ± 17 )%], 100% prescription dose volume V100[(90 ± 18)% vs. (56 ± 14)%]and 100% treatment volume dose D100[(54 ± 10)% vs. (29 ±9)%](P <0.05),respectively. Meanwhile the organ at risk received lower dose volume. ConclusionsPlans generated using IPSA provide higher dose to the target volume but with lower dose to normal structure and less time. This study can help to guide the clinical application.

Objective To investigate the bacteria identification and clinical features of brucellosis in Qingdao City. Methods A retrospective analysis was performed on the clinical data, including general situation, clinical symptom, bacterial culture and laboratory findings, etc of 34 patients with brucellosis in the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University from April 2010 to November 2014.Results Among the 34 patients,24 were male and 10 were female, aged from 12 to 71.The main clinical manifestations included fever, diaphoresis and arthralgia, and merged multiple organ symptoms. After cultured for 3 to 5 days,16 blood samples were positive,6 tissue samples were positive, with 2 positive in both samples.Thirty-four cases were identified Brucella species.Besides liver parameters abnormality and anemia, elevation of C-reactive protein (CRP) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) were the most common laboratory findings.Patients got better prognosis after antibiotic combination therapy. Conclusions With increasing numbers of brucellosis cases in non-endemic areas,we should pay attention to bacteriological culture and other confirmation tests. On the other hand, techniques such as morphology and growth characteristics of Brucella should be mastered to prevent laboratory infection.
