Objective: To study the effect of early rehabilitation on motor function of upper and lower extremities and activities of daily living(ADL) in patients with hemiplegia after stroke; and to observe whether motor function recovery of upper and lower extremities is different. Method: 96 patients were randomly divided into two groups, rehabilitation group (48 cases) and control group(48 cases). Prospective method was used in this study. Patients in the rehabilitation group were given clinical treatment and regular rehabilitation training, while those in control group were given clinical treatment and unguided self- training. The evaluation was done in pre- treatment and post- treatment(6- 8 weeks) respectively.Motor function was assessed in Fugl-Meyer assessment(FMA), ADL assessed in Barthel Index. Result: The motor scores (measured by FMA) and ADL scores (measured by Barthel index) in the two groups were improved after 6-8 weeks treatment, but there was a significant difference between the two groups, the scores in the rehabilitation group were obviously superior to those in the control group (P < 0.01 ). The mean of the Fugl-Meyer Scale (transferred to percentage of maximal motor scores) of the lower extremities was higher than that of the upper extremities pre-and post-treatment (P<0.01). However, the improvement degree of FMA scores between upper and lower extremity had no statistical difference (P>0.05). Conclusion:Early rehabilitation training of the patients with stroke hemiplegia may obviously improve motor function of the limbs and raise ADL scores. However, the degree of improvement in upper and lower extremity is similar in the first two months after early training.

Bulletin of The Academy of Military Medical Sciences 2001;25(2):115-118
Objective:To investigate the effect of free fatty acid on leptin receptor in rats. Methods:High plasma free fatty acid rat model was created by intravenous injection of free fatty acid. Western blot was used to assess the protein level of leptin-receptor in rat liver, muscle and pancreas tissues. The RNA expression level of leptin-receptor was examined by RT-PCR .The tyrosine phosphorylation of leptin-receptor was examined by immuno-precipitation. Results:The protein and RNA levels of leptin-receptor in liver, muscle and pancreas tissues of high plasma free fatty acid rats were similar to those of normal group(P>0.05).But the tyrosine phosphorylation of leptin-receptor significantly downregulated in liver and muscle tissues as compared with control group(P<0.05). Conclusions:High plasma free fatty acid may affect the tyrosine phosphorylation of leptin-receptor in rat liver and muscle.

Objective To establish a HPLC method for the determination of strychnine content in Cidan Capsules. Methods Using Hypersil- C18 as the column and 1 % Acetic acid-acetonitrile (88 ∶ 12) as the mobile phase, HPLC was performed. The detection wavelength was 254 nm. Results The linear range was 0.112~ 0.560 ? g(r=0.999 9). The average recovery rate was 97.36 % , RSD was 1.00 % ( n=5) . Conclusion This method is accurate and specific.

Objective To investigate the forensic applicability of nuclear factor-kappa B p65 (NF-?B p65) to the diagnosis of early myocardial ischemia in cases of sudden cardiac death. Methods The cases were divided into three groups: the cases with early myocardial ischemia, myocardial infarction and cases used as control. Immunostaining of NF-?B p65 was performed by SP method in cardiac tissues. The intensity of NF-?B p65 was observed under light microscope and analyzed semi-5quantitatively. Results NF-?B p65-positivecardiac cells were detected in cytoplasm and nuclei in the cases with early myocardial ischemia and myocardial infarction, and the intensity of immunoreactivity was approximately the same. No positive immunostaining was found in the control cardiac tissues. Conclusion The results suggest that the early myocardial ischemia may have revealed as the same changes as myocardial infarction at molecular level, indicating that NF-?B p65 may be used as a marker for postmortem diagnosis of the early acute myocardial ischemia by immunohistochemical technique.

AIM: To research the protective effects of crocetin on cerebral ischemia-reperfusion(CIR) injury in mice.METHODS: The effects of crocetin on brain edema, brain capillary permeability, the activities of lactate dehydrogenase(LDH),superoxide dismutase(SOD),glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px) in brains and the contents of malondialdehyde(MDA) and nitric oxide(NO) in CIR model mice were observed.RESULTS: Compared with the CIR group,crocetin(50,100 mg/kg i.g.for 5 d) decreased the content of water,Evans blue,MDA and NO in mice brain tissue, and increased LDH、SOD and GSH-Px activity in brains of CIR mice, with statistical significance.CONCLUSION: Crocetin has protective effects on cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury in mice, the mechanism may be related to its anti-oxidative activity and inhibition of NO overproduction.

Objective To observe the effect of Ginkgo Biloba Extract Injection on urinary albumin excretion rate in patients with diabetic nephropathy (DN). Methods A total of 90 patients with DN were divided into two groups: group A was micro-urinary-albumin group; group B was multiple-urinary-albumin group. Both groups were treated with routine therapy plus Ginkgo biloba extract injection (at a dose of 15ml) q.d. for 4 consecutive weeks. The urinary albumin excretion rate was compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results As compared with the group B, urinary albumin excretion rate was significantly lowered in the group A (P<0.01). Conclusion Ginkgo Biloba Extract Injection had effects in lowering microalbumin in urine and therapeutic effect for patients with early DN.

AIM To observe the effect of Yishenjiangzhuo decoction on the NE,5-HT contents of hippocampus in cerebral ischemia reperfusion rats. METHODS High pressure lipuid chromatography-electrochemical process was used to measure the NE and 5-HT contents on the d 1, d 7 and d 15 after cerebral ischemia reperfusion by common carotid artery occlusion. RESULTS The NE contents of hippocampus were respectively 364.25?66.47, 349.76?59.38, (344.59?70.31) ?g?g -1 and the 5-HT contents were respectively 646.72?83.33,629.11?90.64,(596.68?99.47) ?g?g -1 on the d 1, d 7 and d 15 in the model group, which significantly decreased compared with the control group( P
