OBJECTIVETo establish the focus management mode and the report criteria more perfectly for the virus hepatitis cases, especially for the hepatitis B.

METHODSOne district was set as the research area, in which there was enough cases resource and relatively separated from the other districts, then a first or second-class hospital was appointed to take the cases focus diagnosis, report and management.

RESULTSThe focus hospitals had reported 97% (323/331) of cases in the research area between June,2007 and June,2008; moreover,the rate in establishing case-card was 97.21% (314/323), as compared with that in period of 2007 (261), the cases reported declined 61.30% in the first half year of 2008 (101).

CONCLUSIONIt should be an imperative situation to establish a report criteria and management mode for virus hepatitis (hepatitis B), however it is necessary to have more supports from health administrations.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the effect of the implementation of CIDA/WHO TB Control project in Shangdong Province.

METHODSThe statistical data and supervision information of 42 counties involved in the project from September 2002 to December 2005 were collected and analyzed.

RESULTSThe recorded rate of smear-positive TB patients increased from 23.89 per 100 000 persons to 41.04 per 100 000 persons after 3 turns of project in the 3 years. The cure rate in initially smear-positive patients was 97.21% among 14 592 patients having completed the course of treatment; it was 95.36% among 4978 recurred smear-positive patients after the treatment. Thus, the goal aiming at high rate of diagnosing and curing was achieved.

CONCLUSIONThe successful implementation of the project has improved the diagnose and treatment of infectious pulmonary TB patients in Shangdong Province and facilitate the implementation of Provincial TB Control Program.

Bioterrorism events have worldwide impacts, not only in terms of security and public health policy, but also in other related sectors. Many countries, including Korea, have set up new administrative and operational structures and adapted their preparedness and response plans in order to deal with new kinds of threats. Korea has dual surveillance systems for the early detection of bioterrorism. The first is syndromic surveillance that typically monitors non-specific clinical information that may indicate possible bioterrorismassociated diseases before specific diagnoses are made. The other is infectious disease specialist network that diagnoses and responds to specific illnesses caused by intentional release of biologic agents. Infectious disease physicians, clinical microbiologists, and infection control professionals play critical and complementary roles in these networks. Infectious disease specialists should develop practical and realistic response plans for their institutions in partnership with local and state health departments, in preparation for a real or suspected bioterrorism attack.

By deeply investigating and analyzing the problems existed in the current Chinese disease control and prevention system, and learning the experiences from the disease control and prevention systems of other countries, the expert group suggested the following recommendations, included the enhance and update the laws related to public health, build up advanced institution mechanisms that meet current social status, reform current emergency response system, clarify the dominance and function of disease control and prevention system in Health China developing, and speed up the construction of a modern information system, talented professional groups, and advanced culture.
