1.Effect of calcium dobesilate capsules in the treatment of diabetic retinopathy

Objective To investigate the effect of Calcium Dobesilate Capsules in the treatment of diabetic retinopathy ( DR ) and its effect on hemorheology, vascular endothelial function and thrombin.Methods According to the random number table the 80 cases of DR patients admitted in our hospital from September 2014 to August 2016 were divided into observation group and control group, 40 cases in each group, two groups of patients were treated with conventional therapy, the observation group was treated with Calcium Dobesilate capsules.Two groups of treatment were three months.Compared of the therapeutic effects, the before and after treatment changes of visual acuity, hemorheology, vascular endothelial function and thrombin index.Results The total efficiency of the observation group 92.50% was higher than the control group 72.50% (P<0.05);After treatment, two groups visual acuity increased, and the observation group after treatment higher than the control group (P<0.05); Plasma viscosity, whole blood viscosity at high shear and low shear whole blood viscosity, erythrocyte aggregation index in two groups were decreased, and observation group lower than the control group (P<0.05);Plasma NO and ET-1 levels in two groups were reduce, and observation lower than the control group after treatment (P<0.05); After treatment, two groups PT, TT and APTT increased, and observation group PT, TT and APTT higher than the control group (P<0.05) .There were no obvious adverse reactions in the two groups during the treatment period.Conclusion The effect of calcium dobesilate capsules in the treatment of patients with DR is obvious, and it can improve hemorheology.

4.Association of serum osteoprotegerin levels with bone mineral density and bone turnover markers in patients with hyperthyroidism before and after methimazole treatment

Serum bone alkaline phosphatase (BAP) , osteocalcin (OC) , C-telopeptides of type-1 collagen (CTx) , osteoprotegerin (OPG) levels, and bone mineral density (BMD) were evaluated in 62 hyperthyroid patients and 60 healthy subjects matched for sex and age. In hyperthyroid patients, the biochemical evaluations and bone density were performed before and after 6 months of methimazole ( MMI) treatment. Results showed that the BMD in lumbar spine L2 - L4, neck of femur, Ward's triangle and greater trochanter of patients before treatment were all significantly lower than those in healthy controls, and improved markedly after MMI treatment. The serum bone turnover parameters BAP, OC and CTx in patients before treatment were all significantly higher than those in control group, and were decreased markedly after treatment. The serum OPG level in patients with hyperthyroidism was significantly higher than that in healthy controls, and decreased markedly after treatment. The serum OPG levels were significantly correlated with bone turnover parameters ( BAP, OC, CTx) and BMD, which indicates that serum OPG level can reflect the abnormality of bone metabolism in patients with hyperthyroidism.
5.Investigation of sleep quality and its influencing factors in maintenance hemodialysis patients

Objective To investigate the sleep quality of maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients and analyze its associated factors. Methods The convenience sample method was used to choose 424 MHD patients from 7 hospitals.A set of questionnaires were used in this investigation,including demographic data form,Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI),restless legs syndrome (RLS),social support rate scale (SSRS),subjective global assessment (SGA),family APGAR index (APGAR) and family burden scale of disease (FBS). Results PSQI score of 395 MHD patients (93.2%) was ≥5.APGAR and social support total points were negatively correlated with sleep quality (r=-0.133,P=0.006; r=-0.105,P=0.031).Family burden total point was positively correlated with sleep quality (r=0.215,P=0.000).Nutrition (F=46.123,P=0.000),restless legs syndrome (F=9.392,P=0.000) and sleep apnea syndrome (F=5.645,P=0.001) were closely associated with sleep index scores. Conclusions Incidence of poor sleep quality in MHD patients of our study is quite high.Sleep quality of MHD patients is correlated with lots of factors,such as family concern,social support.

Objective To analyze the pulse-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) patterns and antibiotic resistance of Salmonella enteritidisstrains isolated in Longyan city in order to provide reference for effective control, clinical diagnosis and treatment of outbreaks of food-borne diseases.Methods Seventy-seven Salmonella enteritidis strains isolated from food poisoning cases, livestock and poultry meat samples collected for food safety risk monitoring and sporadic cases in 2014 and 2016 were analyzed by PFGE.Antibiotic susceptibility testing was carried out to determine the minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of 16 common antibiotics to 57 strains.Results Seventeen PFGE types were identified among the 77 Salmonella strains including three predominant types (P4, P6 and P8) and were grouped into three major pulsotypes (Cluster1-3) at 90% similarity level.The predominant types causing outbreaks of Salmonella enteritidis infection were P8, P6, P4 and P14, which were responsible for five cases of food poisoning.These isolated strains were highly resistant to nalidixic acid (93%), followed by resistance towards ampicillin (74%) and streptomycin (54%).Forty-one strains were resistant to three or more antibiotics (71.93%).Conclusion The PFGE types of Salmonella enteritidis strains isolated in Longyan city exhibit polymorphism and are clustered into three major pulsotypes.PFGE molecular typing can provide early-warning of sporadic outbreaks and help to identify the sources of infections in Salmonella enteritidis-related food poisoning.Attentions should be paid to multidrug resistant Salmonella enteritidis.Surveillance for multidrug resistant strains and usage of antibiotics should be strengthened.
8.Optimum combination of orientation parameters of total hip prosthesis

Objective To study the optimum combination of orientation parameter of total hip prosthesis and acetabular safe zone on condition that the range of motion for activities of daily living (ADL) is fulfilled.Methods A three-dimensional generic parametric and visually kinematic simulation module of THA was developed.Range of motion ( ROM ) of hip flexion ≥ 110°,internal-rotation ≥30° at 90° flexion,extension ≥30° and external rotation ≥40° were defined as the normal criteria for ADL.ROM of hip flexion ≥ 120°,internal-rotation ≥45° at 90° flexion,extension ≥30° and external rotation ≥40° were as the severe criteria.The ranges of changes in general ratios (GRs) of head-neck,femoral neck antevemion ( FNA ),operative inclination (OI) and anteversion (OA) of acetabulur components were 2.0-2.92,0°-30°,10°-60°,and 0°-70° respectively.Within the limits of the upper two activity criteria,the synchronous OA of acetabulur components was calculated with every 5°change in OI of the cup,and the collodiaphyseal angle ( CDD ) was set as 135°.The safe-zone of combination of acetabulur operative anteversion (OA) and inclination (OI) was defined as the area that fulfilled the two mentioned criteria of ROM without cup-neck impingement.All parameters were analyzed by using SAS 6.12 software.Results The safe zone of acetabdar angle rose with the increase of GRs of head-neck and the safe zone of severe criteria was smaller than that of normal criteria.When the CDD angle was 135°,the sum of average aeetabular OA and acetahular OI plus 0.816 times of the FNA equaled to 84.76° innormal criteria; and the sum of average acetabular OA and acetabular OI plus 0.873 times of the FNA equaled to 92.04° in severe criteria.Conclusions A high GR of head-neck greatly increases the size of safe-zone of acetabular angle.The higher demand of ROM of hip joint requires the smaller safe zone of acetabular angle,as can be corrected by increasing the GR of head-neck.The optimum combination between the sum of average acetabular OA and acetabular OI ( Y) plus FA (X)in the normal criteria and severe criteria can be estimated by using the following formulae:Y1 =-0.816X1 + 84.76 (R2 =0.993 ),Y2 =-0.873X2 + 92.04( R2 =0.999) respectively.
9.Genetic analysis of Echovirus 11 isolated from patients with viral encephalitis in Longyan, China.

This study aimed to analyse the genetically characterize isolates of Echovirus 11 from Longyan City,Fujian Province,and to reveal their genetic relationships with other isolates from China and abroad. Cerebrospinal fluid specimens from patients diagnosed with viral encephalitis or central nervous system (CNS) infections were collected from Longyan First Hospital between January and December 2011. Seven Echo11 strains were isolated and identified using the RIMV serum panel. The entire VP1 coding regions of four strains were sequenced and typed as Echo11 by an online blast program and,subsequently, phylogenet- ic analyses of the VP1 sequences of these stains and others published on GenBank were conducted. There were 600 nucleotides (nt) in each complete VP1 coding region that encoded 200 amino acids (aa). Among those four Echo11 strains, the sequence identities of nt and aa were 100% and 99%-100% respectively. And phylogenetic analyses indicate belong to subtype DS, the homology compared with DS strain (GU393713) were 93% (nt) and 99% (aa). The sequence identities for the nt and aa were 75%-76% and 90%, respectively, between the current isolates from Longyan and the Gregory prototype strain found in 1953. The sequence identity of nt and aa between the Longyan virus strains and the domestic Shandong strains isolated in 2010 were lower, at 74% and 88%-89%, respectively. However,the highest level of ho- mology was found when the Longyan strains were compared with the Netherlands strain (GU393773) found in 2007 (nt and aa identity: 94%-95% and 98%-99%, respectively). The relatively low levels of similarity between domestic isolates suggest that different transmission routes exist for Echo11 in mainland China.

10.Repair of spinal cord injury using Schwann cells in rats: Feasibility and superiority of intravenous transplantation

BACKGROUND: Emerging studies have focused on cell transplantation. Schwann cells (SCs) can secrete various neurotrophic factors and improve local environment around injury. Plenty of documents have demonstrated that SCs could promote functional recovery following spinal injury. Many transplanting methods are available for treating spinal cord injury, and the intravenous cell transplantation is profitable for easy operation and avoidance of additional trauma. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of intravenous transplantation of SCs on spinal cord injury in rats. METHODS: The bilateral sciatic nerves of Wistar rats were separated in vitro, cultured by tissue clot method, identified by S-100 and labeled by Hoechst33342. Sixty rat models with T10 spinal cord injury were prepared using impactor model- II type weight drop apparatus. Then the injured rats were randomly divided into 3 groups: blank control, DMEM control and SCs transplantation groups. No treatment was performed in the blank control group. Totally 1 mL DMEM and or SCs was injected into rats of DMEM control and SCs transplantation groups by tail vein respectively. Basso Beattie Bresnahan (B6B) scores were performed at 1 day before and 1, 3 days, 1 week and weekly after operation. The migration of transplanted SCs was observed at 2 weeks and 4 after transplantation. The expressions of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and neuron specific enolase (NSE) were detected by haematoxylin-eosin staining and immune-fluorescence staining.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The purity of SCs reached 95%. Hoechst33342 positive cells were observed throughout the injured and the nearby region of spinal cord at 1, 2, and 4 weeks after transplantation. The statistical difference of BBB score among the SCs transplantation, blank control, and the DMEM control groups displayed at 4 weeks after transplantation (P < 0.05), and the BBB scores of the SCs transplantation were higher than other groups. Haematoxylin-eosin staining showed the cavity formed in each group at 8 weeks after transplantation, but the area of SCs transplantation was smaller than that of the blank control and DMEM control groups. The immunofluorescence staining indicated that the expression of GFAP were more intense in the blank control group and DMEM control than SCs transplantation (P < 0.05), while the expression of NSE was more intense in SCs transplantation than other groups (P< 0.05). It implied that intravenous transplantation of SCs promotes regeneration of axon and improves neurological functions after spinal cord injury in rats.
