Rapid tumor cell growth depends on intracellular polyamine levels higher than those of normal cells. Intracellular polyamine depletion inhibits tumor cell proliferation and induces tumor cell apoptosis. Therefore, polyamine metabolism has recently been identified as an important target for anti-tumor therapy. This article briefly summarizes recent polyamine metabolism targeting, polyamine depletion within the tumor cells through a variety of methods, and the antitumor effects of the treatment.

Journal of International Oncology 2011;38(7):540-542
Endoscopic ultrasound was initially introduced in 1980s as a diagnostic modality combining echoendoscopes with radial scanning, which permitted reconstruction of cross-sectional images similar to computed tomography. Many studies showed that endogastric ultrasonography is more accurate than endoscopy or CT in evaluating the depth of invasion ( T category) and the involvement of lymph nodes (N category) in patients with gastric carcinoma. In addition to being very useful in tissue acquisition for diagnostic purposes, the principles behind endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration ( FNA) paved the way for the development of therapeutic endoscopic ultrasound, which improve the prognosis of patients with gastric cancer.

Objective To investigate the characteristic of psychological health status and blood glucose in elderly patients with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes for one year. Methods 48 patients in elderly with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes were followed up on their blood glucose level and psychological status for one year. Results At newly diagnosed phase, fasting plasma glucose, 2 h postprandial plasma glucose and HbA1C were (9.48?2.67) mmol/L, (13.49?4.79) mmol/L and (8.89 ?2.74)%, but after 3months, those descended to (7.35?2.47) mmol/L, (10.01?3.14) mmol/L and (6.75?2.14)%, respectively. Compared with newly diagnosed phase, psychological happiness and living satisfaction improved; while the negative emotion, including depression, loneliness, hypochondriasis and anxiety, decreased consistent with the drop of blood glucose level after 3 months. Following 6 and 12 months, blood glucose and psychological heath status were stabilized on the whole. Conclusion Psychological status deteriorated seriously at newly diagnosed phase than in 3, 6 and 12 months, when is important phase for psychological intervention. Moreover, optimal glycemic control can promote psychological heath.

Objective This article aims to investigate the effect of gender determination for measuring the 12th Thoracic Vertebra by using computed tomography (CT) and explore the feasibility for the research of human skeleton measuring by CT technique in the ifeld of forensic anthropology. Methods After ascertaining 11 radial line indicators,we measured Multi-planner Reformation (MPR)image of the 12th Thoracic Vertebra. Four ratio indicators were calculated after eliminating measurement uncertainty of results. We inspected the effect of gender determination for measuring the 12th Thoracic Vertebra by using computed tomography (CT) on account of statistical measurement data. Results Gender determination of 12 indicators is remarkable after eliminating 3 unstable indicators. Sevene quations were established. The equation established by centrum indicators predicted sex up to 91.6% accuracy. Conclusion The morphometry indicators of 12th Thoracic Vertebra have gender difference. CT technology can accurately measure skeleton and is valuale for study of human skeleton measuring research in the ifeld of forensic anthropology.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2016;20(15):2265-2272
BACKGROUND:In recent years, research on tendinopathy is becoming a hot topic in the sports medicine and rehabilitation, and the extracelular matrix plays a considerable role in the occurrence, development and healing of tendinopathy.
OBJECTIVE: To explore the relationship between tendinopathy and the extracelular matrix.
METHODS: CNKI, VIP, CBM, Wanfang, PubMed and Embase were retrieved for articles related to colagen, protein, glycoprotein and matrix remodeling published since 2000.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:After tendinopathy, there are obvious changes in colagen, proteoglycans, glycoprotein and related enzymes; and these changes also affect the reconstruction and repair of tendinopathy. Currently, most of researches focus on the tendon rather than the bone-tendon junction. This means that there are no in-depth studies on the correlation between many important proteins and tendinopathy, and the effects of exercise intervention.

Objective To study on the relationship between insulin resistance and thyroid nodule in the patients of normal glucose metabolism. Methods The clinical data of 105 patients of normal glucose metabolism were analyzed. The patients were divided into nodules group (54 patients) and non- nodules group (51 patients). The age, sex, body mass index (BMI), fasting plasma glucose (FPG), postprandial 2 h blood glucose (2 h PG), fasting insulin (FINS), postprandial 2 h (2 h INS), fasting C peptide (FC-P), postprandial 2 h C peptide (2 h C-P), glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c), blood uric acid (BUA), homeostatic model assessment insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR) were compared between two groups. According the level of HOMA-IR, 105 patients were divided into different subgroups, the detection rate of thyroid nodules was compared. The influencing factors of thyroid nodules were analyzed by multi-factor Logistic regression analysis. Results The age and sex between two groups had no significant differences (P>0.05). The levels of BMI, BUA, HOMA-IR, FPG, FINS, 2 h INS, FC-P, 2 h C-P and HbA1c in nodules group were significantly higher than those in non-nodules group (P<0.05). The detection rate of thyroid nodules in HOMA-IR 3. 01- 4.00 group (12/14) and HOMA-IR > 4.00 group (20/20) was higher than that in HOMA-IR 0- 1.00 group (0), HOMA-IR 1.01- 2.00 group (39.5%, 17/43) and HOMA-IR 2.01-3.00 group (5/17), there were significant differences (P<0.01). Multi-factor Logistic regression analysis showed that the detection rate of thyroid nodules had positive correlation with levels of HOMA-IR, BUA and BMI (OR=0.278, 0.004 and 0.115, 95%CI 1.695-5.043, 1.001-1.015 and 1.046-1.644). The detection rate of thyroid nodules had no correlation with level of FPG (P>0.05). Conclusions The detection rate of thyroid nodules in HOMA-IR>3.00 patients is significantly higher. The insulin resistance, higher BMI and hyperuricemia are the independent risk factors of thyroid nodules.
