Objective To investigate the effect of acupuncture at the primary points of the three yin meridians of the foot on blood pressure in an animal model of high/low blood pressure and explore the specific effect of the meridian points-the primary points of the three yin meridians of the foot. Methods The study included the parts of hypertension and hypotenstion. Both parts were allocated to the primary points of the three yin meridians of the foot, non-acupoint, model and blank groups, six rats each. Except the model and blank groups, all the groups were given acupuncture treatment for seven consecutive days. Blood pressure was measured after the completion of treatment. Five consecutive measurements were made in each rat. Mean values of blood pressure were taken. Results For the part of hypertension, blood pressure at each time point was higher in the acupuncture groups than in the blank control group and lower than in the model group, and there were statistically significant differences (P<0.05), indicating that acupuncture at the primary points of the three yin meridians of the foot has a hypotensive effect. The hypotensive effects of Taichong and Taixi were better than those of Taibai and the non-acupoint (P<0.05). The hypotensive effects of Taichong and Taixi were equal (P>0.05). The hypotensive effect of Taibai was equal to that of the non-acupoint (P>0.05). For the part of hypotension, blood pressure at each time point was lower in the acupuncture groups than in the blank control group and higher than in the model group, and there were statistically significant differences (P<0.05), indicating that acupuncture at the primary points of the three yin meridians of the foot has a pressor effect. The pressor effect was worse in the the non-acupoint group than in the primary points of the three yin meridians of the foot group (P<0.05). The pressor effects of Taibai and Taixi were equal but worse than that of Taichong (P<0.05).Conclusions Acupuncture at the primary points of the three yin meridians of the foot has a specific bidirectional regulating effect on blood pressure. Of them, point Taichong produces a best bidirectional regulating effect on blood pressure.

BACKGROUND:Nasolabial fold flap has been widely used in clinical surgery. The facial artery anatomy has been widely used in clinical research. Angular artery dissection is becoming more and more important to nasolabial groove area surgery, but at present, there is a lack of anatomical analysis of internal angular artery.
OBJECTIVE:To study the anatomy of the angular artery, and to provide anatomical data for protecting the nasolabial flap during surgery.
METHODS:Twenty sides of adult cadaver specimens on head and face were dissected. A reference coordinate system was made based on the line between the connection of two medial angles of eyes (axis X) and the facial midline line (axis Y). The location of the angular artery was measured taking A-F as reference points.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1) The slant angles of the angular artery on BC section, CD section, DE section and EF section were (11.1±4.3)°, (34.1±8.8)°, (21.5±10.5)°, and (17.0±4.7)°, respectively. (2) The angular artery sourced from facial artery was more than it sourced from ophthalmic artery. The diameter of right blood vessel was larger than that of left side. (3) The angular artery sourced from ophthalmic artery comes from the location which extended 8.1 mm to both sides from the point which was 10 mm up from the intersection of facial medial angle of eyes connection and midline. The blood vessel diameter of the starting point was (0.7±0.2) mm. The whole range was 20.1 mm. (4) The angular artery sourced from facial artery comes from the location which extended 25.8 mm to both sides from the point which was 40 mm down to the intersection of facial medial angle of eyes connection and midline. The blood vessel diameter of the starting point was (0.9±0.3) mm. Point to the wing of nose the lateral distance was (5.0±1.2) mm. The whole range was 68.7 mm. The surface projecting of angular artery coming from research results provided anatomic basis for surgery of nasolabial flap.

Objective To investigate the relationship between plasma soluble CD36 (sCD36) and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in patients combined with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Methods Plasma levels of sCD36 were determined in normal control group (group A, n=39), patients of T2DM without NAFLD group (group B, n=39) and T2DM with NAFLD group (group C, n=59). Liver fat content (LFC) and nonalcoholic fatty liver fibrosis score (NFS) were calculated in group C. Glucose and lipid metabolic parameters, liver function parameters and inflammatory parameters were also detect?ed in all three groups. Variance analysis was applied to analyze the differences of the above parameters among three groups;Correlation analysis was used to analyze the relationship between sCD36 level and all the above parameters;Multiple step? wise regression analysis was applied to determine the influencing factors of sCD36 level in patients of group C. Results Plasma sCD36 (μg/L) levels in group B (3.87 ± 1.16) and group C (5.72 ± 1.79) are higher than that of group A (2.57 ± 0.93) (both P<0.01), and it is higher in group C than in group B (each P<0.05);Correlation analysis showed that sCD36 level was positively correlated with body mass index (BMI), waist, visceral adipose tissue, fast insulin (FINS), insulin resistance in?dex (HOMA-IR), free fatty acid (FFA), alanine transaminase (ALT), tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), LFC and NFS (P<0.01 or P<0.05);Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that FFA, LFC, TNF-αand IL-6 were in?fluencing factors of sCD36 level in patients of group C. Conclusion Plasma sCD36 level was related to fatty liver severity, liver injury and fatty liver fibrosis, it might be used as a plasma marker of T2DM combined with NAFLD. CD36 might con?tribute to the development of T2DM combined with NAFLD through inflammatory mechanisms.
