Metabolic memory means if the hyperglycemia can't be controlled at early stage of diabetes,chronic complications such as diabetic retinopathy (DR) will continue to develop even if the blood glucose level maintains normal level at later stage.Oxidative stress plays an important role in the metabolic memory of DR,which interacts with the nitrative stress,advanced glycation end products,genetic modification and endoplasmic reticulum stress in the pathogenesis of DR.Further elucidation of the relationship between oxidative stress and metabolic memory of DR can open the way for the discovery of novel therapeutic targets to prevent DR progression.

Objective To evaluate the security of intravitreal injection with ciproflaxacin to retina. Methods Tweenty-four rabbits were randomly divided into 4 groups with 6 rabbits in each group. 0.1 ml ciproflaxacin in doses of 2 500, 5 000, and 10 000 ?g was intravitreally injected into the rabbits eyes, retrospectively. And 0.1 ml saline solution was injected into the vitreous body of the rats in the control group. Indirect microscope, light microscope and electroretinogram (ERG) were used to observe the changes of ocular fundus. Results Normal results of light microscopy and ultrastructure were found in 250 ?g and 500 ?g groups; irregularly arranged outer and inner nuclear layers, dropsical or even lost ganglion cells, and ultrastructural changes were in 1 000 ?g group. There was no apparent difference of ERG′s a and b amplitudes before and after intravitreal injection with ciproflaxacin in each group. Conclusion Intravitreal injection with ciproflaxacin is safe, and 500 ?g or less is the secure dosage in rabbits' eyes.

ObjectiveTo investigate the early screening; treatment and care methods of the retinopathy (ROP) of preterm children. Methods210 premature children born in our hospital were selected to conduct eye screening,treatment and care from January to December 2009.The nursing key points were summarized. ResultsAmong 210 preterm children,15 cases occurred ROP,the rate was 7.1％.Lesions appeared to be the threshold for laser treatment in 8 patients(16 eyes),accounting for 3.8％.The ROP morbidity rate was higher in birth weight ≤ 1000 g group than that in birth weight ＞ 1000 g group,higher in gestational age ≤32-week group than that in gestational age＞ 32 weeks,higher in the inhalation oxygen concentration ≤ 96％ group than in inhalation oxygen concentration ＞ 96％ group.Significant difference existed in ROP and non-ROP preterm children. ConclusionsThe incidence of retinopathy of premature children was closely related with low gestational age,low birth weight and prolonged and high-concentration oxygen inhalation,timely screening and early intervention care should be given to them.

Objective To develop a portable aerosol sprayer .Methods With computer aided design(CAD)technology,a three-dimensional model of the aerosol sprayer was built , and the simulation analysis of nozzles was conducted using the computational fluid dynamics ( CFD) technology .Results A model of portable aerosol sprayers was designed .According to simulation analysis , the speed and pressure of aerosol in different locations were obtained and were proved to change with time, providing a theoretical basis for determination of working parameters and structural design parameters of the aerosol sprayer nozzle so that design efficiency and quality could be improved; time and cost could be reduced .Conclusion Through CAD technology,an effective method for rational design and structure optimization of the aerosol sprayer is esta -bished.Hydromechanic problems that used to be solved with physical analogue experiments can be resolved by means of CFD simulation analysis .

Objective To develop a Chinese military psychosomatic health scale(CMPHS) and examine its reliability and validity. Methods Based upon the previous researches, the Scale was compiled according to open-ended inventory survey. The data was collected from 1050 subjects chosen by random cluster sampling. 60 of them were tested with the CPSHS at the same time, while 61 of them were retested with the CMPHS after two weeks. The reliability and validity were examined by exploratory factor analysis ( EFA) and correlation analysis. Results According to the factor analysis results, 11 factors were extracted, namely espiratory apparatus, alimentary system,skeletal and musculature,integument,regeneration and endocrine,nervous system, anxiety, depression, psy-choticism and family history. There were 91 items in the formal scale when one lie subscale was added. The correlation between subscales were 0. 103 ～ 0. 778 (P < 0. 01) , the correlation between subscales and total scale were 0.600 ～0.859(P<0.01). The test-retest correlation coefficients of total scale and subscales were 0.427 ～0.901 (P < 0.01); the Cronbach (α) coefficients were 0. 643 ～ 0. 935 (P < 0. 01) ; and the split-half correlation coefficients were 0. 349 ～ 0. 855 (P < 0. 01 ). The correlation coefficients were 0. 425 ～ 0. 979 (P < 0. 05 or 0. 01 ). Conclusion The Chinese military psychosomatic health scale has acceptable psychometrics properties on reliability and validity.

Objective To investigate the changes of serum levels of IL-24, IFN-γand IL-4 in patients with condyloma acuminatum (CA) after treatment. Methods Forty-two patients with CA who experienced no recurrence within 3 months after successful treatment were enrolled in this study. Double-antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunoabsorbent assay (DAS ELISA) was performed to determine the serum levels of IL-24,IFN-γand IL-4 in these patients before and 3 months after successful treatment as well as in 35 normal human controls. Results The untreated patients showed a lower level of serum IFN-γ (9.65 ± 3.70 vs. 15.49 ± 3.85ng/L, P ＜ 0.01) and a higher level of serum IL-4 and IL-24 (15.91 ± 6.14 vs. 10.48 ± 5.08 ng/L, 141.84 ±44.01 vs. 103.20 ± 41.37 ng/L, both P ＜ 0.01 ) compared with the controls. No significant difference was observed for the above parameters between the serum samples from the controls and patients 3 months after successful treatment. Conclusions Cellular immunity is impaired in patients with CA, which may be involved in the immunopathogenesis of CA.

Objective To investigate the illness-related stigma in outpatients with chronic viral hepatitis B and C and its effects on interaction anxiousness and general self-efficacy.Methods Forty-eight patients with chronic hepatitis B ( CHB),41 patients with chronic hepatitis C (CHC) and 29 healthy volunteers were enrolled.Hepatitis-related Stigma Questionnaire (HRSQ) produced by researchers was used to assess stigma in patients of both CHB and CHC.All patients and healthy volunteers were evaluated by Interaction Anxiousness Scale (IAS),General Self-efficacy Scale (GSES) and Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire (SCSQ).Results Hepatitis-related stigma was common in both CHB and CHC.The most common positive items and their percentages of CHB and CHC were rejection in job seeking (81.2％,75.6％ ), keeping conditions about hepatitis secret (72.9％,75.6％ ),feeling discrimination in society (66.7％,56.1％ ) and rejection in mate selection (60.4％,61.0％ ),and the rarest ones and percentages were feeling lowest stress together with patients with the same disease (35.4％,31.7％ ) and being understood only by patients with the same disease (33.3％,26.8％ ).Differences of positive percentages of any items between CHB and CHC were not statistically significant (P ＞0.05 ).One-way ANOVA showed that difference of IAS scores among three groups of participants was not statistically significant ;and GSES score of CHB(2.41 ± 0.45 )was not statistically different from that of CHC (2.49 ±0.60 ),but they both were lower than that of healthy control (2.78 ± 0.52) (F=4.648,P =0.011 ).The multivariate stepwise regression analysis showed that the item feeling much different from others of HRSQ entered the formula of CHB IAS score (B =4.861,adjustment R2 =0.106),and the item being understood only by patients with the same disease of HRSQ entered the formula of CHC IAS score (B =6.745,adjustment R2 =0.113);negative coping dimension score of SCSQ ( B =- 0.424),the item feeling discrimination in society ( B =-0.359) and feeling lowest stress together with patients with the same disease ( B =-0.274) entered the formula of CHB GSES score (adjustment R2 =0.280).Conclusion Illness-related stigma is common in outpatients with chronic viral hepatitis,which probably raises patients' interaction anxiousness and weakens the general selfefficacy of patients with hepatitis B and C.

Aim To explore the effect of nNOS specific inhibitor 7-nitrioindazole(7-NI) on the neurogenesis after focal cerebral ischemia in the adult mice dentate gyrus.Methods Focal cerebral ischemia was induced by middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO).A bromodeoxyuridine(BrdU) method was used to identify the proliferated cells in hippocampal dentate gyrus.Step-down test was performed to assay the learning and memory function.Results The number of BrdU~+ cells was increased in the ipsilateral but not contralateral dentate gyrus after focal cerebral ischemia.7-NI promoted the increment in the ipsilateral dentate gyrus significantly.7-NI also improved the survival of the new-born cells,as well as the learning and memory function of ischemic mice.Conclusion Our results indicate that nNOS down-regulates the neurogenesis after focal cerebral ischemia.

Objective To investigate the clinical effectiveness and safety of acupuncture at Zusanli (ST36),Taichong(LR3) and Hegu(LI4) points combined with three-step analgesic ladder for the treatment of gastric cancer pain.Methods Sixty patients with moderate and severe pain induced by gastric cancer were randomly divided into study group and control group,30 cases in each group.The study group was treated with acupuncture at Zusanli,Taichong and Hegu points combined with three-step analgesic ladder for gastric cancer pain management,and the control group was treated with three-step analgesic ladder only.After treatment for 7 days,the clinical effectiveness was evaluated with the average pain scores of Numerical Rating Scale(NRS),Quality of Life Scale(QOL-BREF by WHO),Self-rating Depression Scale(SDS).And the incidence of adverse reaction was also observed.Results (1) After treatment,the markedly-effective analgesic rate of the study group was higher than that of the control group (P ＜ 0.05).(2) After treatment,QOL scores of both groups were much improved as compared with those before treatment(P ＜ 0.05),and the improvement of the study group was superior to that of the control group(P ＜0.05).(3) The depression scores of both groups were much improved after treatment (P ＜ 0.05 compared with those before treatment),but the difference between the two groups was insignificant(P ＞ 0.05).(4) The incidence of adverse reaction of the study group was lower than that of the control group(P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion The effect of acupuncture at Zusanli,Taichong and Hegu points combined with three-step analgesic ladder is better than three step analgesic ladder alone for the treatment of gastric cancer pain.

Objective To evaluate the test-retest and inter-rater reliability of the hand-held pressure algometer as a measuring instrument of pressure pain threshold(PPT).Method A total of 37 healthy subjects were recruited for reliability test.Three raters measured the PPT at 12 body sites of the subjects.Each rater conducted three trials on each site.In the validity test,10 patients with active trigger points in the upper trapezius were recruited and measured by one rater using the pressure algometer for PPT,the visual analogue scale(VAS)was also used to evaluate the pain intensity induced by the trigger point.The intraclass correlation coefficient and Spearman correlation coefficient were calculated to reflect the reliability and validity.Results The test-retest and inter-rater reliabilities were both high(ICC＞0.95),with the measurements by one rater were more reliable than measurements by multiple raters.The inter-rater reliability of PPT measurement obtained by using the mean value of 3 trials was higher than any of the 3 trials alone.The PPT values of the trigger points were higher than those of the normal points,and there was a significantly negative correlation between the PPT values of the trigger points and the VAS scores.Conclusion The intra-and inter-rater PPT measurements in healthy subjects obtained with the hand-held pressure algometer were highly reliable.The algometer was valid for quantifying myofascial trigger point sensitivity.
