Acta Universitatis Medicinalis Anhui 2025;60(4):730-735
Objective :
To explore the correlation between uteroglobulin-related protein 1(UGRP1) and primary hypothyroidism.
Methods :
Ninety-six patients with primary hypothyroidism were selected, including 66 patients with positive thyroid peroxidase antibodies(TPOAb) or anti-thyroglobulin antibodies(ATG) as the antibody-positive group, 30 patients with negative thyroid autoantibodies as the antibody-negative group, and 96 healthy people as the control group. The general clinical data, thyroid-related indicators and serum UGRP1 levels were compared among these three groups. Human thyroid normal cells(NTHY-ORI 3-1) were transfected with plasmids in vitro, thus establishing the control group as well as the UGRP1 group. Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) was used to detect and compare the T4 level in the cell culture supernatant.
Results :
The differences in thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH), TPOAb and ATG among the three groups were statistically significant(P<0.05). The serum UGRP1 levels in the antibody-positive(303.97±156.00) pg/ml and antibody-negative groups(352.13±188. 37) pg/ml were higher than those in the control group( 237. 54 ± 137. 20) pg/ml,and the differences between the groups were statistically significant( P = 0. 005). Meanwhile, there was no statistically significant difference between the antibody-positive and antibody-negative groups. Multi-factor Logistic regression analysis showed that UGRP1 was the risk factor for the occurrence of primary hypothyroidism( OR = 1. 004,95% CI: 1. 001-1. 007,P =0. 007). The difference between the control group and UGRP1 group in T4 concentration secreted by human thyroid normal cells was not statistically significant.
Conclusion
Serum UGRP1 levels increase in patients with primary hypothyroidism, and the high expression of UGRP1 may have no direct relation to the function of thyroid cells secreting T4.

Objective:To evaluate the diagnostic value of MRI findings in differentiating between tophus and giant cell tumors of the tendon sheath (GCTTS) in the knee. Methods:The study was a case-control study. The clinical and MRI data of patients diagnosed with knee tophus or GCTTS was retrospectively analyzed at the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University from September 2018 to September 2024. The study included 23 cases of tophus and 22 cases of GCTTS. MRI sequences, including T 1WI, fat-suppressed T 2WI, and proton density weighted imaging, were evaluated. Parameters including lesion signal intensity and homogeneity, margin, maximum diameter, location (inside or outside the synovial cavity), ligament/tendon involvement, ligament/tendon parenchymal changes, adjacent bone erosion, bone marrow edema, synovial hyperplasia, joint effusion, and periarticular soft tissue swelling were recorded. Independent sample t-tests, χ2 tests, or Fisher exact tests were used to compare MRI findings between the two groups. Multivariate logistic regression was performed to identify independent predictive factors. Results:Significant differences in terms of maximum diameter, location (inside or outside the synovial cavity), ligament/tendon involvement, ligament/tendon parenchymal changes, adjacent bone erosion, bone marrow edema, and periarticular soft tissue swelling between the two groups were found (all P<0.05). No significant differences for other parameters were observed (all P>0.05). Lesion location and ligament/tendon parenchymal involvement demonstrated the highest sensitivity and specificity for distinguishing the two diseases. The sensitivity and specificity values for lesion location were 0.78 and 0.95. The sensitivity and specificity values for ligament/tendon involvement were 0.78 and 1.00. Multivariate logistic regression identified lesion location (inside or outside the synovial cavity) as an independent predictor for differentiating tophus from GCTTS ( OR=31.48, 95% CI 1.58-625.69, P=0.024). Conclusion:The location of the lesion (inside or outside the synovial cavity) and involvement of ligament/tendon parenchyma are critical factors in differentiating knee tophus from GCTTS. Additionally, lesion location serves as an independent predictor for distinguishing between the two conditions.

Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism 2023;39(11):917-922
Objective:To investigate the predictive effects of triglyceride-glucose index(TyG) 0 h, TyG 1 h, and TyG 2 h on type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) in elderly male participants without diabetes.Methods:A total of 862 subjects were selected and followed up for 20 years, retrospectively. At baseline, all subjects underwent 75 g oral glucose tolerance test(OGTT) and venous plasma glucose measurements were taken before OGTT(FPG), 1 h and 2 h after OGTT(1 h-PG and 2 h-PG, respectively). Fasting blood lipids and other important biochemical indicators were also detected. The index of fasting serum triglycerides(TG) and FPG, 1 h-PG, 2 h-PG were TyG 0 h, TyG 1 h, TyG 2 h, respectively. Cox proportional hazards regression model and receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve were used to evaluate the predictive effect of TyG 0 h, TyG 1 h, and TyG 2 h on T2DM.Results:The results of Cox regression model indicated that TyG 0 h, TyG 1 h and TyG 2 h had predictive effects on T2DM at 10 and 20 years of follow-up [At 10 years of follow-up, TyG 0 h: HR=1.538(95% CI 1.267-1.868), P<0.001; TyG 1 h: HR=2.224(95% CI 1.852-2.672), P<0.001; TyG 2 h: HR=2.117(95% CI 1.777-2.522), P<0.001; and after follow-up for 20 years, TyG 0 h: HR=1.431(95% CI 1.204-1.700), P<0.001; TyG 1 h: HR=2.008(95% CI 1.705-2.364), P<0.001; TyG 2 h: HR=1.850(95% CI 1.582-2.163), P<0.001]. After 10 years of follow-up, the area under the curve(AUC) of TyG 0 h, TyG 1 h, and TyG 2 h for predicting T2DM was 0.699, 0.747, and 0.739, respectively. Comparison of AUC, TyG 1 h or TyG 2 h>TyG 0 h. After 20 years of follow-up, AUC of TyG 0 h, TyG 1 h, and TyG 2 h for predicting T2DM was 0.671, 0.723, and 0.705, respectively. Comparison of AUC, TyG 1 h>TyG 2 h>TyG 0 h. Conclusion:The predictive role of TyG 1 h and TyG 2 h in T2DM is superior to TyG 0 h, and TyG 1 h′s long-term predictive effect on T2DM is better than TyG 2 h, which can be used as a reference index to evaluate the risk of T2DM in clinical practice.

Acta Universitatis Medicinalis Anhui 2023;58(5):863-867
Objective :
To investigate the correlation of uteroglobulin⁃related protein 1 (UGRP1) with latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA) .
Methods:
124 participants were selected , including 45 LADA patients as LADA group ,41 type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients as T2DM group and 38 healthy people without diabetes as control group. General information , diabetes related indicators and serum UGRP1 levels were compared among the three groups. Spearman correlation was used to analyze the relationship between serum UGRP1 and diabetes related indicators. Binary logistic regression was used to analyze whether UGRP1 could be an independent risk factor for LADA. The diagnostic value of UGRP1 in LADA was discussed by ROC curve analysis.
Results:
There were significant differences in BMI , systolicpressure , diastolicpressure , fasting blood glucose , 2h postprandial blood glucose , fasting C ⁃peptide , 2h postprandial C ⁃peptide , HbA1 c , diabetes antibodies( GADAb , IA⁃2 , ZnT8) among the three groups (P < 0. 05) . The level of serum UGRP1 in LADA group was significantly higher than that in control group and T2DM group (P < 0. 05) . Spearman correlation analysis showed that the serum UGRP1 level of diabetes patients was related to fasting C ⁃peptide , 2h postprandial C ⁃peptide , GADAb , the number of positive diabetes antibodies. Binary Logistic regression analysis showed that serum UGRP1 level was an independent risk factor for LADA. ROC curve analysis results suggested that UGRP1 could be used as a better assistant indicator for the diagnosis of LADA.
Conclusion
UGRP1 may be involved in the pathogenesis of LADA.
