Objective To analyze the factors affecting quality of life (QOL) in patients with stroke. Methods Eight hundred and six stroke patients were recruited by using the stratification and random sampling method, and QOL questionnaire was applied. Results It was shown that QOL was worse comparatively in stroke patients with poorer education, divorce or lose of spouse, non-free medical service, unemployment, serious deficit of nervous function, while it was indicated by the results of multiple factor analysis that QOL was influenced mainly by such factors as education background, marriage and neurological function. Conclusion In order to improve QOL of patients, we should pay more attention to the health of elders, social security system, education and medical technology.

Objective To understand the effect of health management to enhance the community hypertensive patients' self-efficacy. Method With the method of stratified random sampling, 347 patients who come from communities were diagnosed as hypertension were selected as research subjects from the range of Yingze in Taiyuan of Shanxi province. There were 191 males and 156 females, the age ranged from 38 to 72 (55.90±9.60) years. The self efficacy promotion plan was conducted on high blood pressure patients. A comparison before and after six months of health management was made among the self efficacy scores, daily life scores, health behavior scores, drug behavior scores, medical compliance behavior scores by using self-efficacy scale. Excel 2007 and SPSS 19.0 were used for data analyses. Result Before the implementation of health management, the self efficacy scores of research subjects were 26.96 ± 0.77. After the implementation of health management, the value increased to 29.51 ± 0.86 (t=-41.23, P<0.05). In four dimensions, daily life (before and after management 6.85 ± 0.20 and 7.49 ± 0.31, t=-40.66), drug behaviors (before and after management 7.52 ± 0.21 vs. 7.98 ± 0.23, t=-26.93) and medical compliance behavior scores (before and after management 5.26±0.15 vs. 6.78±0.19, t=-115.97) were higher than those before the health management except health behaviors (before and after management 7.25 ± 0.40 vs. 7.26 ± 0.40, t=-1.94, P<0.05). Conclusion Health management regulated the self care behavior of patients with hypertension, improved the patients' compliance and enhanced self efficacy, which played an important role in controlling the development of disease.

Objective To investigate the influence of deep brain stimulation (DBS) at high frequency to the bilateral nucleus accumbens on morphine-induced conditioned place preference (CPP) and relapse behaviors during extinction phase in rats. Methods Twenty adult SD rats were employed in the experiment. Through stereotactic operation, outer electrode cannula was implanted into rats' bilateral nucleus accumbens. After 5 days of rest, the morphine-dependent rat model with CPP was established through intraperitoneal morphine injection (10 mg/kg). The rats, after being randomly divided into experimental group (morphine+DBS) and control group (morphine+sham DBS), were electrically stimulated using DBS circuits. Rats in the experimental group were given high frequency electrical stimulations while the control group was given sham stimulation. The CPP score of the two groups was recorded the day after stimulation until successful extinction and then the extinction time was compared between the two groups. After successful extinction the rats were given small dose of morphine to trigger relapse within 24 hours, and the CPP score was recorded and compared between the two groups.Results Compared with the control group (six days), the experimental group (26 days) had a longer extinction time. After relapse, the retention time within the drug-paired chamber of the experimental group was (357.01±192.72) s, obviously shorter than that of the control group ((704.91±181.35) s;t=2.370, P=0.034 6). Conclusion High frequency DBS to rats' bilateral nucleus accumbens can prolong extinction time but inhibit relapse behavior.

Objective:To study the anti-fibrogenetic effect of matrine compound injection and its mechanism. Methods: Experimental liver fibrosis induced by tetrachloride in rats was treated by matrine compound injection. Liver function index, interleukin-1? (IL-1?) and pathological changes in liver tissue were observed in model and therapy groups during the 4th,6th and 9th week. Results:The serum IL-1? levels of model and therapy groups were (25. 51?14. 31) and (10. 49?7. 49) pg/ml in the 4th week, (109. 67?20. 87) and (15. 06?2. 65) pg/ml in the 6th week, and (40. 26?10. 63) and (23. 27?7. 56) pg/ml in the 9th week. The liver function (ALT, AST, TBil) of therapy group was better than that of model group at each stage. Pathological changes indicated that the infiltration of inflammatory cells,the degree of liver cell necrosis and the degree of fi-broplastic proliferation in the therapy group were obviously better than those of the model group. Conclusion : Matrine compound injection has an anti-fibrogenetic action on the liver fibrosis induced by tetrachloride.

Objective To investigate the expression of type Ⅱ collagen in the articular chondrocyte of osteoarthritis (OA) patients and normal human. Methods The samples of articular cartilage were obtained from the patients undergoing total joint replacement, including 8 primary OA patients, 8 secondary OA patients and 9 normal subjects. Type Ⅱ collagen expression in chondrocyte was detected by reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Results The expressin of type Ⅱ collagen mRNA in normal OA group was higher than that in primary OA group and secondary OA group with a statistical difference (P=0.014), while there was no statistical difference between primary OA group and secondary OA group(P=0.716). Conclusions The reduction of type Ⅱ collagen expression leads to the change of collagen directly and possibly plays an important role in OA, which is the common pathway of the occurrence of both the primary and secondary OA.

Objective To investigate the incidence of gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasm (GEP-NEN) in Chengdu City in 2010 and summarize clinical characteristics of GEP-NEN.Methods The incidence of GEP-NEN was estimated with the data in 2010 from the databases of West China Hospital and Chengdu Health Information Centre.Results A total of 77 cases of GEP-NEN were diagnosed in West China Hospital in 2010.Ten cases from other hospitals or non-Chengdu citizenship were excluded,so a total of 67 cases were included in this study.In 2010,the incidence of GEP-NEN was 1.86/105 in Chengdu City.Among 67 GEP-NEN cases,most lesions were located in pancreas and rectum (38 cases,56.7％),followed by stomach (10 cases),esophagus (seven cases) and duodenum (four cases).Among 57 GEP-NEN cases which had pathotogial grading,26 cases (45.6 ％) had neuroendocrine carcinomas or mixed adenoneuroendocrine carcinomas when diagnosed.Conclusions In 2010,the incidence of GEP-NEN in Chengdu City is similar to the reports from other countries.Pancreas,rectum and upper gastrointestinal tract are predilection sites of GEP-NEN.The diagnosis rate of early GEP NEN needs to be raised.

ObjectiveTo analyze the relationship between expressions of Indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO) and B7-H1 with clinico-pathological features and their prognostic significance in pancreatic cancer (PC).Method95 patients who underwent radical pancreaticoduodenectomy for PC were studied.The IDO and B7-H1 expressions in tissue specimens were determined by immunohistochemistry.ResultsIDO and B7-H1 expressions were higher in pancreatic carcinoma tissues than in normal pancreatic tissues (P＜0.05).IDO and B7-H1 expressions positively and significantly correlated with pathological grades and tumour-node-metastasis (TNM) stages (P＜0.05).They were prognostic of poor cancer-specific survival.After adjusting by the Cox proportional hazards regression models (P＜0.05),only a combined IDO/B7-H1 expression served as an independent prognostic marker.ConclusionsIDO and B7-H1 were expressed in PC,and they were important markers for malignant progression of PC.A combined IDO/B7-H1 expression served as an independent prognostic marker for PC.

Objective To explore the role of EphB4 in proliferation of glioma cells. Methods The mRNA and protein expressions of EphB4 were detected using RT-PCR, immunochemistry, and Western-blot, respectively. EphB4 siRNA was synthesized and transfected into U251 cells using Lipofectamine 2000. Glioma cell proliferation, apoptosis, and invasion were determined by MTT assay, TUNEL and transwell experiment, respectively. Results The expression (P<0.05) and proliferation of EphB4 were obviously decreased in U251 transfected with EphB4 siRNA and the proliferation was further decreased with the increased concetrations of siRNA. Compared with U251 group and siRNASCR group, EphB4 siRNA at different concentrations (25, 50 or 100 nmol/L) significantly reduced the invasion ability of cells and increased the number of apoptotic cells (P<0.05). Conclusions EphB4 plays an important role in the regulation of glioma cell proliferation, apoptosis and invasion.
