Objective To study the relationship between high-sensitivity C-reactive protein level and carotid plaque in patients with acute cerebral infarction. Methods 73 patients with acute cerebral infarction were selected as research subject, then all the patients were tested with color doppler ultrasound. The patients were divided into unstable plaque group(A group)23 cases, stable plaque group(B group)25 cases and no plaque group(C group)25 cases,at the same time,25 healthy persons were selected as the control group(D group). The high-sensitivity C-reactive protein level and carotid plaque of the four groups were studied. Results The rate of carotid plaque with acute cerebral infarction was higher than that of healthy person(all P<0.05),and the high-sensitivity C-reactive protein level of D group was lower than that of A group,B group and C group, and the level of A group was higher than that of B group and C group(all P<0.05). Conclusion The detection rate of carotid plaque and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein level with acute cerebral infarction were both higher than those of healthy persons. It indicated there was cloce relationship between high-sensitivity C-reactive protein level and carotid plaque.

Objective To summarize the perioperative care experience in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) treated by transurethral electrovaporization of the prostate (TVP). Methods A retrospective analysis of 693 cases of BPH treated by TVP from June 1998 to September 2002 was conducted. Results The operation time ranged (25~130) min (mean, 54 min). Four patients intraoperatively presented with the early symptoms of the transurethral resection syndrome (TURS) and were treated promptly, without deaths during operations. Follow-up checkups for (3~9) months in 422 cases showed that, from the preoperative period to the 3rd postoperative month, the I-PSS declined from (24.8?3.2) points to (11.4?1.9) points ( t=5.48; P

Methods After full preparation,TVP was performed on 96 cases of 70 95 year old BPH patients, and all patients were followed up for 3 6 months after operation. Results On the average, the operation time was 48 minutes, blood loss 88 ml, catheterization time was 4 5 days. The patients had satisfactory voiding after removal of the catheter and the average post operative hospital stay was 6 5 days. By 3 6 months of follow up, I PSS score dropped to 9 8 and 6 5; peak urine flow increased to 13 6 15 8 ml/s, residual urine dropped to 28 5 12 0 ml( P

Objective To observe the effects of ACEI( enalapril) on expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in renal hypertension rats with focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury. Methods Twenty-eight Wistar male rats were randomly divided into two groups: hypertension group and normaltension group. The former which formed model of renal hypertension rats by constricted renovascular were randomly divided into enalapril group (Y) and hypertension ischemia and reperfusion group(HIR),which fed with enalapril 2mg/kg and equal volum saline respectively; The latter were divided into sham-operation group ( N) and normaltension ischemia and reperfusion group (IR). The focal cerebral ischemia model was established in Wistar rats by using the method of thread inserting left middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO) for 2h. After ischemic 24h,the expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 were measured by immunohisto-chemistry,and the gray scale value was measured by imaging analysis. Results Compared with N,the gray scale values of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in IR were higher(P <0. 01); Compared with IR, the gray scale values of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in HIR were higher(P<0. 05);Compared with HIR,the gray scale values of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in Y were lower(P<0.01). Conclusion Hypertension can increase the expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in rats with focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion. ACEI (Enalapril) could inhibit the expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in renal hypertension rats with focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion.

Objective: To investigate whether bcl-2 directly contributes to the development of drug resistance and apoptosis in o- varian cancer cell lines cells OC3. Methods: Retrovirus expression cector pLXSN-bcl-2 was constructed and was transfected to ovarian cancer cell line cells OC3 using Lipofectin, with empty vector pLXSN as a control. bcl-2 expession of transfected cells was analyzed by FACS and Western blot and Adr-induced cytotoxicity was measured by MTT assay. Apoptosis was also detected by PI DNA staining and DNA Ladder analysis.Results:pLXSN/bcl-2 transfected cells OC3/bcl-2 overexpressed bcl-2 and were resistant to Adr-induced cytotoxicity. The ability against Adr-induced apoptosis was increased. Conclusion: bcl-2 may play an important role in the resistance to Adr-inducing apoptosis, thereby increasing resistance of OC3/bcl-2 cells to chemotherapy.

Aim To introduce and apply artificial lumbar interverte-brai disc replacement for the treatment of lumbar disc degenerative diseasesand lumbar disc herniation accompanying evident disc space narrowing andinvestigate the regulation of its recovering spinal motion and carrying a-bility. Methods Thirty-one cases (37 discs) of artificial lumbar disc re-placement were performed using SB Charite Ⅲ from April 1998 to April2000. Among them, disc degenerative diseases were in 16 cases (18discs), disc herniation accompanying evident disc space narrowing in 13cases ( 17 discs), rec urrent dise herniation in 2 cases. The rehabilitationtraining was done under postoperative instructions. Results All the caseswere followed up from 17 to 41 months (averagely 26 months) untilSeptember 2001. The clinical outcomes were excellent in 23 cases, goodin 6 cases, fair in 2 cases. The mobility of the operated level had 4.0°anterior flexion and 5. 1° posterior extension after operation and 9.1° ontotal mobility. Meanwhile, the operated intervertebral space got an average4. 2 mm higher than that before. Because of technical problem, a slightdisplacement of the core occurred in one case without any clinical symp-toms and signs. Conclusion Artificial lumbar disc replacement can re-covery spinal motion and carrying capacity and provides a new kind ofoperation for the treatment of lumbar disc degenerative diseases and discherniation accompanying evident disc space narrowing.

Objective To explore the indications of anterior and posterior approach operations for unstable thoraco-lumbar fractures coupled with neurologic deficits and prevention of intraoperative and postoperative complications. Methods We investigated 107 consecutive eases of thoraco-lumbar fractures coupled with spinal cord injury who had been operated on from January 2000 to December 2006.Their average age was 37.8(range.17 to 78) years old. They were 71 males and 36 females. Anterior approach was selected for 46 cases and posterior approach for 61 cases according to their McCormack grades. By the Frankle system for neurologie deficits, 7 cases were graded as A,16 as B,39 as C and 45 as D. Fracture height vecoveries before and after surgery were analyzed statistically. Kyphotic deformity was assessed on lateraJ radiographs using the Cobb method. Results The mean follow-up of 97 cases was 2.8(range,0.5 to 6) years. In both groups. All the cases gained at least 1 grade improvement except those with Frankle grade A. The mean kyphotic angles before operation, after operation and at the latest follow-up were 23.7°,10.6°and13.1°respectively, with significant differences(P<0.01),in the anterior approach group, while 16.3°,8.4°and 11.7°respectively, with significant differences(P<0.01),in the posterior approach group. Some complications, such as deficit of cutaneous nerve of thigh, appeared in the 2 groups. Conclusions In treatment of unstable thoraco-lumbar fractures coupled with neurologic deficits, the anterior approach may be better than the posterior approach. The posterior approach can be applied for the cases with less than 7 points in McCormack index. Correct selection of operative approach, careful operation and good rehabilitation after operation are necessary for the prevention of complications.
