Topical fluorouracil therapy is an advanced treatment for actinic keratoses, Bowen's disease, multiple basal cell epithelioma and other precancerous skin lesions. Because of extensive and frequent use of 5-fluorouracil(5 F-U) cream, some untoward effects, mostly allergic contact dermatitis and irritation dermatitis, can be anticipated. We have experienced a case of crural ulcer after accidental application of 5 F-U cream for treating the tinea cruris at drug store. The patient was 21 year oid man who had suffered from erythema, erosion and shallow ulceration with oozing, serosanguinous discharge, buming and stinging sensation on the both groins and its adjacent area of the scrotum. The skin lesion was not well responded to topical corticosteroid but controlled by wet dressing and zinc oxide lotion within 10 days of hospitalization. At the 20th hospital day, the skin was healed with remained follicular hyperpigmentation. A few days later, the tinea cruris was confirmed by direct microsopic examination and culture. Generally, topical 5 F-U spares normal cell, while selectively destroying the more rapidly proliferating celI, but there are some possible factors to induce destruction of non-proliferating cell in the highly penetrating area The skin penetration can be different depending upon the anatomical location.

Epidermal nevus syndrome, which used to combine congenital abnormalities of the central nervous and skeletal system and others, are not ingrequently encountered. Until now fer cases of epidermal nevus with intemal malignancy were reported in the literatures, Since the report on this epidermal nevus associated with intemal malignancy, the newer finding was interested by dermatologist. A case of 3 and half months old boy who had nevus unius lateris and retroperitoneal leiomyosarcoma since at birth was seen at St. Mart's Hospital. He did not mongolian and cafe au lait spots on the vack which seemed to be a characteristicaign of epidermal nevus syndrome, His developmenta percmtile was 25 of his matched age group. He was bome with spontaneous normal delibery in the hospital. His parents were relatively healthy and his morher had no history of any kind of medicine taken during the pregnancy. There were no family history of epidermal nevuys like skin lesions and hereditary disorders.

Frason' a new topical steroid ointment containing 0.05% 17-desoxymethason and 0.5 % framycetin, was in trial for several kinds of dermatoses. Total 40 patients including 8 cases of contact dermatitis, 6 seborrheic dermatitis, 4 atopic dermatitis, 4 pityriasis rosea, 4 acne vulgaris, 3 nummular eczema, 3 psoriasis vulgaris, 3 pustulosis palmaris et plantaris and 1 folliculitis were treated with Frason', and the results were as follows. 1) 29 patients revealed excellent or good therapeutic effects (72.5%) with unoccluded application of Frason ointment, 2 or 3 times daily, among the 40 patients. 2) In comparison with the 0.05% Frason' ointment and the 0.05% betamethasone- gentamycin cream, the 0.05% Frason' ointment was found to be slightly more effeetive in the aspect of anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial action. 3) W/0 base of Frason' ointment had slightly irritating reaction compare to O/W base of betamethasone cream, There was no side effect except 1 patient who complained of buming sensation after initial application of Frason ointment.

Characterizations of the VP4 (P type) and VP7 (G type) genes of Korean isolates of bovine rotavirus were performed using RT-PCR/RFLP and nucleotide sequencing analysis. After RT-PCR amplification of partial length (1094bp) of the VP4 and full length (1062bp) of the VP7 genes, amplified PCR products were digested with restriction endonucleases and digestion patterns were compared with those of reference rotaviruses. With the VP4 genes, four RFLP (AD) profiles were observed; three (A, B and C) were the same as those of bovine rotavirus NCDV (P[1]), IND (P[5]) and B223 (P[11]), respectively, Profile D was the same as that of porcine rotavirus OSU (p[7]). With the VP7 genes, five RFLP profiles (I-V) were observed; three of them (1, II and III) were the same as those of bovine rotavirus NCDV (G6), Cody I-801 (G8), and B223 (G10), respectively, Profile IV and V were atypical to those of reference bovine rotaviruses used in this study. These two profiles were identified as G6 and G5, respectively, after analyzing and comparing the nucleotide sequences. The G typing analysis revealed that 61.9% (26/42) were G6, which included G6 subtype; 28.6% (12/42) were G5; 7.1% (3/42) were G10; 2.4% (1/42) were G8. The P typing analysis revealed that 54.8% (23/42) were P(5); 28.6% (12/42) were P(7); 11.8% (5/42) were P(11); 4.8% (2/42) were P(1). Our results showed that G6/P(5) were the most prevalent rotaviruses in diarrheic calves in Korea. Also, this is the first report that G5P(7) rotaviruses were identified from cattle with diarrhea.

The complexily in development of the dural sinus may result in many variations. Studies are being done on the variation of the straight sinus for clinical application of neurological diagnosis and operation. However, no data is available on Koreans, which made this study necessary. The present study was made on 50 Korean adult cadavers (average age of 67). The results were as followlng. 1. A bulbous formation of the rostral aspects of the straight sinus was present in 22 cases(44%). 2. Complete double straight sinus was present in 3 cases(6%). 3. Partial septum was observed in 8 cases (16%) with varied position and length. 4. The straight sinus terminated into both transverse sinuses(52%), the left transverse sinus(24%), the confluence of sinuses (18%), and the right transverse sinus(6%). 5. Average length and width of the straight sinus were 48.5mm and 5.9mm, respectively. 6. Nineteen cases(38%) showed no tentorial sinus drainage into the straight sinus on both sides. Multiple, reticulated, dark brown colored, macules and patches suddenly developed on the fac, and neck of a 48-year-old Korean woman two days after a traffic accident. On physical examination and laboratory tests including serum melanocyte-stimulating hormone, estrogen and progesterone level, no abnormalities were found except cervical pain. Histological examination of hematoxylin-eosin stained sections revealed increased melanin pigmentation in the basal layer, but the number of melanocytes was not changed in DOPA stained section. Topical application of 2% hydroquinone and 20% azelaic acid ointments had been applied successively for two months each without any apparent improvement. Herein we present a case of reticulate hyperpigmentation on the face and neck, which is very acute and whose causative factors are not certain.
