Mammary carcinoma was induced in rats by itravenous injection of N-methy-N-Nitrosourea. Microangiography was perfromed to evaluate the microvascular alterations in mammary carcinoma after irradiation. The tumors were givena single dose of 1.400 rads using Co-60 telethrapy unit with field size of 4 x 4 cm at 40 cm SSD. The dose ratewas 147.5 rads per minute. Microangiography was performed prior to irradiation and at one, two, and four weeksfollowing irradiation. The results are as follows: 1. Before irradiation, mammary carcinoma in rats tended to formlobules and the basic vasculature consisted of peripheral vascular pattern with central penetrating vessels. Theperipheral vascular pattern was always richer than that of the center. Irregular and tortuous vessles stretchedfrom the periphery into the center of lobule. 2. One week following irradiation, an increase in the number ofsmaller, tortuous vessels and decreased intervasular distance were obseved in the central portion of each lobule. This finding seems to be due to an improved filling of some previously existing but unfilled vessels. This maylead to improved metabolic changes and reoxygenation. 3. Later's changes of microvasculature after irradiation aretortuosity, irregularity, narrowing, abrupt tapering, fragmentation, and extravasation. These findings progressedafter a lapse of time. 4. The results can be considered as the microangiographic demonstration of the fact that reoxygenation after irradiation is mainly due to dilatation of the collapsed tumor vessels.

Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1982;18(1):3-9
The study was undertaken to assess the CT density of the antibiotics solution. CT scan of six antibioticssolution-streptomycin, chloramphenicol, Na-penicillin, ampicillin, kanamycin and cefamezine-in concentration ofabout 33% (approximatly single dose of intramuscular injection) was performed, using plastic syringes. Variousconcentrations of striptomycin, chloramphenicol and Na-panicillin were also examined for evaluation of relationbetween concentration and the CT density of the antibiotics. In addition, relationship between CT number andmathematically calculated effective atomic number and electron density of the antibiotics was evaluated. Theresults are as follows; 1. The CT densities of all antibiotics reveal high density (CT number 80–150) inconcentration of single intramuscular injection dose. 2. CT number of striptomycin, chloramphenicol andNa-penicillin gradually increased with increase of concentration of the antibiotics, producing linear proportionto concentration, effective atomic number and electron density of the antibiotics. 3. Therefore, density ofantibiotics should be included in differential diagnosis when high density on CT scan is observed.

5.The Effect of Secretin on Pepsin Secretion in Heidenhain Pouch.
Journal of the Korean Surgical Society 2006;70(3):161-169
PURPOSE: This research was done to confirm the effect of secretin on pepsin secretion and to study whether or not feeding can depress the secretin-stimulated pepsin secretion (SSPS) with its related factors. METHODS: Heidenhain (HP) and Pavlov pouches (PP) were made in 6 dogs and cannulae were then inserted into the pouches. The fluids were collected through the cannula every 10 minutes for 3 hours in various conditions, including resting, feeding, secretin perfusion, acidification of the stom-ach and, gastric distension. A modified Anson's hemoglobin method was used to check the amount of pepsin. RESULTS: When secretin was perfused in the HP, there was no increase of pepsin secretion at 0.1 and 0.2 CU/kg/hr, but the pepsin secretion increased at 0.4 and 1.0 CU/kg/hr. Compared to the control, ANOVA showed significant differences for secretin 0.4 CU/kg/hr (P<0.01) and for secretin 1.0 CU/kg/hr (P<0.001). When milk was administered through the gastric cannula after secretin stimulation, pepsin production increased in the PP, but pepsin secretion in the HP dropped close to the basal level after administering milk. This depression was not related to acidity of the milk. ANOVA showed significant differences for secretin with milk vs milk alone (P<0.0005) and vs secretin alone (P<0.0025). The inhibition of SSPS was not observed with any gastric distension or acid perfusion. CONCLUSION: In the HP, secretin increased the pepsin secretion and the vagus nerve has an inhibitory effect on pepsin secretion under secretin stimulation. Milk feeding depressed the SSPS, and that depression was not related to pH of the food and gastric distension. Further study is needed in order to clarify the mechanism of depression.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1988;26(4):507-512
We evaluated median value and lower confidence limit of total serum IgE level in each age group of 1,493 pure atopic dermatitis patient without respiratory atopic diseases. The results were as follows . 1. The median value of total serum IgE level of each age group in patients with atopic dermatitis distributed from 56.5 IU/@Ll to 660It.J/C. The distributions of the median value of total serum IgE levels of total patients with atopic dermatitis, total male patients with atopic dermatitis, and total female patients with atopic dermatitis were 185 IU/C, 220 IUj'@C, and 165 IUj'C. There was no statistical significance of median value of total serum IgE level between mole patients and female patients. 2. The 95% and 99% lower confidence limit(one-sided) of total serum IgE level of ea.ch age group in patients with atopic dermatitis distributed from 32.6 IU /n4 to 287IU/v4 and from 31 IU/m0 to 202 IU4. The 95% lower confidence limit (one-sided) of total serum IgE level of total patients with atopic dermatitis, tatal male patients with atopic dermatitis, and. total female patients with atopic dermatitis were 170 II.J/m0, 185 IU,m/l, and 133 IUm/l. The 99% lower confidence limit.(one-sided) of total serum IgE level of total patient with atopic dermatitis, total male patient with atopic dermatitis, and total female patients with atopic dermatitis were 165 IU/ml, 180 IU/ml, and 125 IU/ml.

Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1993;29(2):187-192
To evaluate the normal range of articular disk postion, MRIs of 25 temporomandibular joints(TMJs) in 19 asymptomatic volunteers were analysed. On the closed mouth sagittal T1 weighted MRI the junction of the posterior band and bilaminar zone was within 10°anterior from the vertical line through the apex of condylar head in 19 (76%) lad within 20°in 23 (92%) TMJs. The intermediate zone of the articular disk was located between the posterior surface of articular eminence and the anterior surface of condylar head in 22 (88%) TMJs. We suggest that on the closed mouth sagittal MRI the junction of the posterior band and the bilaminar zone could be within 10°anterior from the vertical line through the apex of condylar head in asymptomatic Korean persons. If the junction is located more than 20°anterior from the vertical line or the intermediate zone is anterior to the anterior surface of condylar head it is suggested that the disk is anteriorly displaced. Further studies are needed to evaluate the clinical significance of mild anterior displacement of the articular disk(11°-20°) in asymptomatic persons.

8.The Relationship between Hydroxyapatitie Orbital Implantation and Drilling.
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1999;40(3):625-631
The relationship between intraorbital hydroxyapatite implantation and drilling was studied in 85 cases of 85 patients from September 1991 through December 1996 in the Separtment of Ophthalmology, Yeungnam University College of Medicine. The incidence of drilling after intraorbital implantation and the causes of not being able to drill were evaluated. Postoperative extraocular muscle and prosthetic motility of the cases with and without drilling were reviewed. Drilling was performed in 39 cases(45.9%). Forty-six cases were not received drilling due to mildly contracted, tight socket(17 cases), satisfactory prosthetic motility without drilling (13 cases), limitation of extraocular muscle motility(9 cases), thin prosthesis(4 cases) and exposure of implant(3 cases). A fter the follow-up period of 6-56 months(mean 18 months), postoperative prosthetic motility was satisfactory in 30 cases(76.9%) in drilling cases and 12 cases(26.1%) in non-drilling cases.

To evaluate the efficacy and safety of lovastatin, new hypolipidemic agent of HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, we administered lovastatin 40mg to 80mg once daily for 12 weeks in 20 patients(7 males, 13 females) with primary hypercholesterolemia, and observed the sequential chamges of the lipid profile every 4 weeks. The results are as follows ; 1) The seurm total cholesterol was reduced significantly by 31% from 321+/-36mg% to 210+/-26mg%(p<0.05). 2) The serum triglycerides was significantly reduced from 321+/-168mg% to 228+/-74mg% by 29%(p<0.05). 3) The low density lipoprotein cholesterol was reduced significantly from 177+/-36mg% to 120+/-22mg% by 32%(p<0.05). 4) The total lipid, high density lipoprotein cholesterol and very low density lipoprotein cholesterol were also reduced significantly. 5) The ratio between total cholesterol and high density lipoprotein cholesterol, low density lipoprotein cholesterol and high density lipoprotein cholesterol did not change after lovastatin therapy. 6) There was no adverse reaction due to lovastatin therapy during 12 weeks of therapy. These results suggested that lovastatin is a effective and safe now hypolipidemic agent and is a convenient HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor for clinical use.

Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1993;29(5):1080-1083
Male breast cancer is very rare, with the incidence of 0.15-1% of all breast cancers and less than 1% of all cancers in men. The prognosis of male breast cancer is poorer than that of female because the median age of detection of the disease is in more late stage. It usually involves higher axillary lymph nodes. We report two cases of male breast cancer to describe characteristic mammographic and ultrasonographic findings and to compare with the findings of gynecomastia.
