Abstract?AlM:To discuss the feasibility of using the visual quality analyzer KR - 1W to guide the relatively personalized aspheric intraocular lens ( lOL ) implants to make the whole eye spherical aberration close to 0. 1μm.?METHODS: ln this prospective case series study, the corneal spherical aberration with 6mm aperture of 73 patients (100 eyes) was measured with KR-1W Visual Function Analyzer 1d before surgery. For the sake of the whole postoperative spherical aberration were close to 0. 1μm, 9 cases ( 16 eyes ) with corneal spherical aberration <0. 15μm were implanted Sofport Advanced Optic lOL, named AO group;45 cases ( 57 eyes ) with corneal spherical aberration 0. 25~0. 3μm were implanted AcrySof lQ lOL, named lQ group;19 cases (27 eyes) with corneal spherical aberration > 0. 35μm were implanted Tecnis ZA9003 lOL, named Tecnis group. Aspherical lOL was implanted after phacoemulsification through a cornea 2. 75mm incision without suture. Uncorrected visual acuity, beat corrected visual acuity, spherical aberration of the whole eye and jnternal optics (mainly lOL) at 6mm pupil diameter were examined at 3mo postoperatively. The relevant data were analyzed using t-test and variance analysis.?RESULTS: The whole ocular spherical aberration at 6mm pupil diameter in all postoperative were 0. 084 ± 0. 032μm;in Tecnis group, the data were 0. 091 ± 0. 021μm;in AO group, the data were 0. 0814-0. 013μm;lQ group were0. 093 ± 0. 042μm. There was no significantly different between the predicted value and actual value of ocular spherical aberration at 6 mm pupil diameter in all postoperative ( t = 1. 932, P = 0. 061 ) and in the three groups. The difference value in the predicted values of the preoperative spherical aberrations of the whole eye and the actual values after surgery was 0. 013±0. 041μm; there was no statistically significant difference ( F=2. 537, P=0. 091 ) . Respectively compared the uncorrected visual acuity and besta corrected visual acuity among three groups of postoperative, no significant difference were found (F=0. 897, P=0. 421;F=1. 423, P=0. 097).?CONCLUSlON: Personality selection of aspheric lOL based on preoperative corneal spherical aberration of patients is feasible and produces satisfactory target postoperative total spherical aberration.

ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical value of ATP bioluminescence tumor chemosensitivity assay (ATP-TCA) for recurrent and refractory non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) specimens in vitro.Methods Thirty-four freshlytaken recurrent andrefractoryNHL specimens weretestedin vitro for cancer chemosensitivity by ATP-TCA.ResultsDrug sensitivity of NHL specimens had heterogeneity.Different drugs had different tumor growth inhibition ratio in vitro.Response rate (RR) of the patients receiving chemotherapy according to in vitro assay was 82.4 ％ (28/34),complete response rate (CR) was 52.9 ％ (18/34).In DICE group RR was 60.0 ％ (18/30),CR rate was 33.3 ％ (10/30).In GDP group RR was 62.3 ％ (33/53),CR rate was 26.4 ％ (14/53).In ATP-TCA group RR was significantly higher than those in DICE and GDP groups (x2 =3.93,P =0.047; x2 =3.98,P =0.046).ConclusionThe results of ATP-TCA assay are correlated well with clinical treatment responses.The assay may be an important and useful method for individual-based chemotherapy of cancers.

Objective To understand the pattern of children injuries treated in hospitals and to provide evidence for its further prevention and control. Methods Data of children cases was descriptively analyzed from the Chinese National Injury Surveillance System (NISS), from 2006 to 2008. Results The incidence rates of boys were twice (2.22,2.15,2.15 ) higher than girls. About one half (50.74% ,49.75% ,49.75%) of them were 5-14 year of age. The main causes were falls (44.14%,45.68%, 47.15% ), RTIs (15.71%, 14.46%, 13.79% ), and blunt force injuries (13.20%, 12.92%,12.40% ). Main locations where the injuries happened were at home (34.96%, 36.86%, 38.84% ),school and public places (24.72%, 19.80%,21.19%) ,and road/street (21.21%, 19.63%, 19.33%). The major injured body parts were head (34.88%, 35.84%, 37.07% ), upper limbs (28.00%, 28.21%,27.81% ) and lower limbs (21.86%, 21.49%, 21.31% ). The majority cases were unintentional (93.01%, 92.66%, 90.58% ), minor (78.50%, 81.20%, 81.52% ) injuries, treated and discharged (82.37%, 85.19%, 84.84% ). There were considerable differences in the distributions of causes,locations, injured body parts, and other contexts depending on age. Conclusion The pattern of children' s injury would include causes, places and other characteristics treated at hospitals from NISS and was related to the age of the injured child which was quite different from the spectrum of death caused by injury. NISS acts as an important source of information on children's injury in China, and can contribute to the prevention and control program on children' s injury.

Objective To study the preventive strategies through analyzing the poisoning cases from the National Injury Surveillance System (NISS), from 2006 to 2008. Methods Data of poisoning cases was descriptively analyzed from Chinese NISS, from 2006 to 2008. Results The proportion of poisoning cases to all injuries cases from NISS were 2.57%, 2.48% and 2.52% from 2006 to 2008, which ranked sixth in all the injuries causes. Most people being poisoned had junior middle school education and most of them were agriculture/animal husbandry/fishery/water producers or commercial/service personnel. Most of the poisoning incidents were happened at home, always occurred in leisure time - around 8 PM, every day. The common types of poisoning were alcohol,clinical drugs, pesticide and carbon monoxide. Unintentional injuries were the main causes. Self-harm/suicidal cases in the rural areas were more than in the urban areas, with women more than men. The main type of self-harm/suicide related poisoning cases were through drugs or pesticide. ≥65, 15-29and 30-44 year-olds were most commonly seen. Conclusion Alcoholism was the primary type of poisoning injuries which is the highest in young adults ( 15-29 years and 30-44 years). It's important to promote civilized drinking habits and limit access to alcohol for youth. Self-harm/suicide had close relationship with clinical drugs and pesticide. The key points to prevent pesticide and clinical drugs poisoning were safe storage of pesticides, universal security of pesticide, and the supervision on drug producing and marketing. Children and the elderly were the high risk people for carbon monoxide poisoning. Monitoring and intervention must be strengthened.

OBJECTIVEIncidence and severity of motion sickness (MS) in hot-humid environment are extremely high. We tried to know the effect of two-stage training for reducing incidence and severity of ms.

METHODSSixty male subjects were divided into experimental group and control group randomly. Subjects in experimental group received: (2) adaptation training including sitting, walking and running in hot lab. After adaptation confirmation based on subjective feeling, rectal temperature, heart rate, blood Pressure, sweat rates and sweat salt concentration, we tested both groups by Coriolis acceleration revolving chair test and recorded Graybiel's score and grading of severity to evaluate whether adaptation training was useful; (2) Anti-dizzy training 3m later of deacclimatization contained revolving chair training for 10 times. Then we did the same test as mentioned above to evaluate effect of anti-dizzy training. RESULST: Graybiel' s score and grading of severity had no difference between two groups through acclimatization training (P > 0.05). While they had difference through anti-dizzy training (P < 0.01).

CONCLUSIONAdaptation training seems useless for reducing incidence and severity of MS in hot-humid environment, but anti-dizzy training is useful.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of paraquat (PQ) on reactive oxygen species (ROS) and neutrophil apoptosis and its possible signal transduction pathways.

METHODSCultured neutrophils were treated with different concentrations of PQ for 6-24 h. The apoptosis rate of neutrophils and ROS content were determined by flow cytometry. The exoressions of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) and Caspase 3 were detected by Western blot. These parameters were checked again after NF-κB and Caspase 3 antagonist were applied.

RESULTSPQ could boost ROS generation and depress neutrophil apoptosis significantly. At the same time PQ could enhance the expression of NF-κB and inhibit the expression of Caspase 3. These effects could be reversed by ROS inhibitor diphenyleneiodonium (DPI) and NF-κB inhibitor pyrrolidinedithiocarbamate (PDTC).

CONCLUSIONPQ is a potent inducer of ROS and can inhibit neutrophil apoptosis by activating NF-κB and surpressing Caspase 3 activity.

Fermentation for Eicosapentaenoic Acid(EPA) production by Nitzschia laevis at various temperature between 10℃ and 30℃ was investigated and the dynamics characteristics during fermentation process were also analyzed.Based on the results,a varying temperature nursing method of two stage control strategy is proposed:During the first stage,which comprises the delay phase and the initial index phase,the temperature is maintained at 25℃;then the temperature is shifted to 20℃ and kept up till the end of the fermentation process.By this method,a EPA content of 6.0% and a yield of 291.60 mg/L have been gained.These are 24.07% and 18.81% higher than that of fixed temperature(25℃) fermentation,respectively.

The application of recombinant transgenic plant in the production of vaccines, antibodies and pharmaceutical proteins has become a hot point in the plant genetic engineering both at home and broad. However, there are some limiting factors of application such as yield, downstream processing and so on. The advantages and research progress for the mocular farming of pharmaceutical proteins recent three years was discussed, focusing on the existing problems and new strategies in this area.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the risk factors,clinical characteristics and resistance of Staphylococcus aureus nosocomial infections so as to guide the treatment of S.aureus infection.METHODS To collect clinical materials of S.aureus nosocomial infection and analyze risk factors and clinical characteristics and detect sensitivity of isolated strains to antibacterial agents.RESULTS Severe underlying diseases existed among 73 cases of S.aureus nosocomial infections,82.19 percent of patients had received invasive interventions.Lower respiratory tract was the most common infective site.Seventy-nine strains of S.aureus were isolated,including 66 meticillin-resistant S.aureus(MRSA) and 13 meticillin-sensitive S.aureus(MSSA).S.aureus showed general resistance to many kinds of antibiotic drugs.The resistant rates of MRSA were much higher than those of MSSA(P

Objective:To know the effect of counseling on personality feature and self-conscious symptom of college students with internet addiction disorder (IAD).Methods:Before and after counseling,38 students with IAD in Guangdong Medical College (GDMC)were measured by Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire (16PF)and Symptom Check List 90 (SCL-90).Results:After counseling,these students with IAD had higher scores of 4 factors in 16PF(sociability,intelligence,perseverance,autonomy),had lowerer scores of 5 factors in 16PF (daring,suspicion,illusion,anxiety,tensity),and had lower scores of 6 factors in SCL-90 (force,interpersonal sensitivity,depression,anxiety,hostility,terror)(P＜0.05 or P＜0.01).Conclusion:To college students with IAD, counseling could enhance their positive personality features,weaken their negative personality feature and mitigate their self- conscious symptom.
