5.Analysis of Compatibility Laws for Acupoint Selection of Acupuncture in Treating Diabetic Gastroparasis.

OBJECTIVETo summarize and analyze the compatibility laws for acupoint selection of acupuncture in treating diabetic gastroparasis (DGP) in modern literatures of clinical researches.
METHODSRetrieved were literatures related to treating DGP by acupuncture or acupuncture combined other therapies from PubMed, CNKI, and WF from 1982 to 2014. Analyzed were frequency of acupoint use, meridians selected acupoints belonged to, regions selected, association laws of selected compatible acupoints.
RESULTSRetrieved were 35 with compatibility frequencies more than 15 listed as follows: compatibility frequency of Zusanli (ST36) and Zhongwan (CV12) was 33 (94.29%); compatibility frequency of Zusanli (ST36) and Neiguan (PC6) was 23 (65.71%), compatibility frequency of Zhongwan (CV12) and Neiguan (PC6) was 22 (62.86%), compatibility frequency of Zusanli (ST36), Zhongwan (CV12), and Neiguan (PC6) was 22 (62.86%); compatibility frequency of Zusanli (ST36) and Sanyinjiao (SP6) was 16 (45.71%); compatibility frequency of Zhongwan (CV12) and Sanyinjiao (SP6) was 16 (45.71%); compatibility frequency of Zusanli (ST36), Zhongwan (CV12), and Sanyinjiao (SP6) was 15 (42.86%). Meridians selected acupoints belonged to were sequenced as Foot Yangming Stomach channel, Ren channel, Foot Taiyang Bladder channel, and so on. Acupoints selected were mainly in lower limbs, chest and abdomen, waist and back. The compatibility of Zusanli (ST36) and Zhongwan (CV12) was the most often used with the highest frequency.
CONCLUSIONSThe compatibility laws for acupoint selection of acupuncture in treating DGP were mainly dominated as upper-lower selection, three regions selection, local selection, anterior-posterior selection. The compatibility laws for acupoint selection of acupuncture along meridians were mainly dominated as the convergence points and exterior-interior meridian points.

6.Prokaryotic expression, purification and immunoreactivity of Mycobacterium tuberculosis Ag85A protein

Objective To obtain M. Tuberculosis Ag85A protein by prokaryotic expression. Methods The fbpA gene encoding M. Tuberculosis Ag85A protein was amplified by polymerase chain reaction ( PCR) from M. Tuberculosis H37R_V strain. The PCR product was cloned into prokaryotic expression vector pProEXHTb to generate the recombi-nant plasmid pProfbpA, which was then transformed into the competence Escherichia coli BL21 cells. The recombi-nant Ag85A protein was successfully expressed by isopropyl thio-β-D-galactoside(IPTG) induction and purified by the Ni-purification system. The distribution of fbpA gene in different nonpathogenic mycobacterial strains was screened by PCR and ELISA was performed to determine the immunoreactivity of the recombinant Ag85A protein with serum from mice with mycobacterial infections. Results 32 ku Ag85A protein was successfully expressed and purified. It was confirmed by PCR and ELISA that fbpA gene presented in the genomes of M. Tuberculosis H37Rv, H37Ra, BCG, M. Smegmatis, M. Terra, M. Trivial and M. Phlei, but being absent in the genomes of M. Vaccae. The highest Ag85 A antibody titer was found in serum of TB patients and mice infected by M . Tuberculosis H37Rv .Conclusion The recombinant Ag85A protein was successfully expressed and purified.

9.Etiological factor analysis of facial nerve paralysis due to chronic inflammation of middle ear.

OBJECTIVETo discuss the etiological factors of facial nerve paralysis due to chronic inflammation of middle ear.
METHODSThis retrospective research included 41 patients operated for facial nerve paralysis due to chronic inflammation of middle ear. Careful exploration was made in facial canal in order to identify pathological tissue involvement. Pathological examination was performed in all operative specimens.
RESULTSFour intact fallopian canals were observed. There was a defect on the fallopian canal in 37 patients (90%) and it was most commonly located on the tympanic segment of the canal (89%). Pathological report was cholesteatoma, granulation and tuberculosis, which was found in 24 cases (59%) 14 cases (34%) and 3 cases (7%), respectively.
CONCLUSIONSFacial nerve paralysis due to chronic inflammation of middle ear was frequently relevant with cholesteatoma,the tympanic segment of the fallopian canal was most location to be involved in. Its major factor was the infection spreading along the nerve tissue, but not atrophy due to compression. The defect on the fallopian canal was not necessary for infection diffusion.

10.Efficacy and toxicity analysis of XELOX and FOLFOX4 regimens as adjuvant chemotherapy for stage III colorectal cancer.

OBJECTIVETo compare the efficacy and toxicity of capecitabine plus oxaliplatin (XELOX) versus 5-fluorouracil/leucovorin (5-Fu/LV) plus oxaliplatin (FOLFOX4) regimens as adjuvant chemotherapy for stage III colorectal cancer.
METHODSThe clinicopathological data of 118 patients with stage III colorectal cancer were studied retrospectively. The patients were assigned to receive either FOLFOX4 regimen (n = 76) or XELOX regimen (n = 42). 3-year disease-free survival (DFS) and adverse events as end points were compared between the two groups.
RESULTSThe number of patients that failed to finish 8 cycles was higher in FOLFOX4 group (28 vs. 8, P = 0.044). There was no significant difference for 3-year DFS and all grades adverse events between the two groups. However, the FOLFOX4 group showed more grade 3/4 neutropenia (31.6% vs. 14.3%, P = 0.039) and central venous catheter-associated complication (11.8% vs. 4.8%, P = 0.205), while XELOX showed more grade 3/4 thrombocytopenia (19.0% vs. 6.6%, P = 0.038) and hand-foot syndrome (11.9% vs. 1.3%, P = 0.012).
CONCLUSIONThe results of this analysis indicate that XELOX and FOLFOX4 regimens have very similar efficacy as an adjuvant chemotherapy for stage III colon cancer, but XELOX may be safer than FOLFOX4.
