Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2014;34(2):139-144
OBJECTIVETo evaluate the efficacy and safety of acupuncture-moxibustion combined with modified Mojie tablet (see text) in the prevention of the recurrence of endometriosis (EMS) after laparoscopic surgery.
METHODSAfter laparoscopic surgery, 120 cases of EMS were randomized into an acupuncture-moxibustion group, a western medication group, a Chinese medication group and a combined therapy of acupuncture-moxibustion and Chinese medication group (combined therapy group), 30 cases in each one. In the acupuncture-moxibustion group, acupuncture was applied at Xuehai (SP 10), Sanyinjiao (SP 6) and Guanyuan (CV 4); the isolated moxibustion with ginger was used at Guanyuan (CV 4), once a day, twice a week. In the western medication group, gestrinone was prescribed for oral administration, 2.5 mg, once a day, twice a week. In the Chinese medication group, the self-prepared Mojie tablet were prescribed for oral administration. In the combined therapy group, acupuncture, moxibustion and modified Mojie tablet for oral administration were used in combination. The therapeutic methods were same as the acupuncture-moxibustion group and the Chinese medication group. Totally, the treatment of 3 months was required. Separately, before treatment, after treatment, in 3 months after treatment and in 6 months after treatment, EHP-5 score (endometriosis health profile-5), the abdominal/vaginal ultrasound examination, serum CA125 detection and safety index (ALT detection) were compared in patients among 4 groups.
RESULTSIn 3 and 6 months after treatment, the positive rates of EHP-5 score were 0% (0/30) in the combined therapy group and 0% (0/30) in the acupuncture-moxibuston group, which were all lower significantly than 13.3% (4/30) in the western medication group (both P < 0.05). In follow-up stage of 6 months after treatment, there was no recurrence case in abdominal lviginal ultrasound examination in the combined therapy group, which was lower than 13.3% (4/30) in the western medication group (P < 0.05); the serum CA125 detection in the combined therapy group did not find any abnormal case, which was lower than 16.7% (5/30) in the western medication group (P < 0.05). At the end of treatment session and in the follow-up stage of 3 months after treatment, the abnormal rate of ALT were 20.0% (6/30) and 13.3% (4/30) in the western medication group, which were higher than those in any of the rest groups (P < 0.05). In the follow-up stage of 6 months after treatment, there were 3 abnormal cases of ALT in the western medication group, but which was not different significantly as compared with the rest groups (P > 0.05).
CONCLUSIONAcupuncture and moxibustion combined with modified Mojie tablet effectively prevent from the recurrence of EMS after laparoscopic surgery and improve the life quality of the patients. This combined therapy brings less damage on the liver as compared with the western medication of gestrinone and indicates its definite efficacy and safety.

Chinese Journal of Nuclear Medicine 2011;31(4):267-271
Objective To systematically review the efficiency of 18 F-FDG PET in glioma grading by using Meta-analysis. Methods Retrieval in PubMed and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI)was performed. Relevant papers concerning with glioma diagnoses with 18 F- FDG PET were selected. Paper quality was evaluated according to the standard of diagnostic test recommended by Cochrane Workshop. The data of glioma malignancy degree defined as semi-quantitatively and qualitatively were extracted from the papers. Meta-analysis was conducted with the Meta-Disc software to calculate pooled weighted sensitivity and specificity with 95% confidence interval (CI). Summary receiver operating characteristic (SROC) curve was performed and the areas under the curve (AUC) were calculated. Results Seven hundred and fifty-three patients from 17 papers ( 16 in English, 1 in Chinese) were included. Two hundred and seventy-two patients from 11 papers were using semi-quantitative (tumor to cortex ratio, T/C; tumor to white matter ratio,T/W) method and 481 patients from 9 papers were using qualitative method (visual observation, some of the papers had 2 or more methods). After heterogeneity test was done, different effect models were selected. The pooled weighted sensitivity, specificity and diagnostic odds ratio (DOR) with 95% CI for T/C group was 0. 952 (95% CI: 0. 903 -0. 980), 0. 409 (95% CI: 0. 318-0. 504) and 11. 746 (95% CI:5. 368-25. 702) respectively. The pooled weighted sensitivity, specificity and DOR with 95% CI for T/W group was 0. 857 (95% CI: 0. 768-0. 922), 0. 538 (95% CI: 0. 431 -0. 642) and 22. 066 (95% CI:7. 077-68. 800) respectively. The pooled weighted sensitivity, specificity and diagnostic odds ratio (DOR)with 95% CI for qualitative method was 0.810 (95%CI: 0.757-0.855), 0.870 (95%CI: 0. 819-0.911 ) and 15.282 (95% CI: 3. 716-62. 851 ) respectively. The AUC for T/C group, T/W group and qualitative method was 0.8604, 0. 8373 and 0. 8724 respectively. Conclusions Grading glioma by 18 F-FDG PET with semi-quantitative method may provide high diagnostic sensitivity. If qualitative method is used, the diagnostic specificity may be higher.

Objective To investigate the expression of Oct-4 as a stem cell marker in gastric carcinoma tissues and its clinical significance. Methods From June 1996 to March 2006, 63 paraffin samples of gastric carcinoma tissues were obtained, and the expression of Oct-4 was examined by immunohistochemical staining. Another 58 normal tissues adjacent to gastric carcinoma and 10 normal gastric mucosa tissues were served as controls. The clinieopathologieal data of 63 patients with gastric carcinoma were retrospectively analysed, and their relationship with the expression of Oct-4 was analysed. Fifty of these 63 patients were followed up for 8 years, Kaplan-Meier method and Log-rank teat were employed to explore the correlation between Oct-4 expression and survival, and Cox Regression analysis was performed to evaluate the possibility of Oct-4 expression as an independent prognostic factor for gastric carcinoma. Results The positive expression rate of Oct-4 in gastric carcinoma tissues was 80.95% (51/63), significantly higher than that of normal tissues adjacent to gastric carcinoma (5.2%, 3/58) and normal gastric mucosa tissues (0) (P < 0.01). The expression of Oct-4 was positively correlated to the clinical stage of gastric carcinoma(P<0.01). There was no significant difference in the expression of Oct-4 among patients with different differentiation, age, and gender (P>0.05). Patients with higher expression of Oct-4 had significantly shorter survival time (P<0.05). The expression of Oct-4 was not significantly correlated with the prognosis of gastric carcinoma(RR, 0.554; 95% CI, 0.209-1.466). Conclusion The expression of Oct-4 is correlated with the clinical stage and survival time of patients with gastric carcinoma, however, it is not an independent prognostic factor for gastric carcinoma.

International Eye Science 2016;16(10):1875-1878
AIM: To explore the effect of different corneal incision size on change in tear function after phacoemulsification cataract surgery in type 2 diabetics.
●METHODS:One hundred and fifty patients with type 2 diabetes (150 eyes) from Jan. 2015 to Oct. 2015 in our hospital were enrolled. The patients were randomly divided into two groups. Seventy-five patients (75 eyes) in group A: coaxial 2. 2mm micro - incision phacoemulsification cataract extraction and intraocular lens (lOL) implantation; seventy-five patients (75 eyes) in group B:the conventional coaxial 3. 0mm small incision phacoemulsification cataract extraction and lOL implantation. The difference of demographic characteristics between two groups were insignificant. The ocular surface disease index ( OSDl ) , corneal sensation, break up time (BUT) and Schirmer′sltest(Slt) were examined preoperatively and 1wk, 1, 3 and 6mo postoperatively.
●RESULTS:At 1wk, 1 and 3mo postoperatively, the OSDl score in two groups increased and the OSDl score of group B was significantly higher than those of group A and the differences were statistically significant ( all P<0. 05 ) . The corneal sensation in two groups decreased after operations and the corneal sensation of group B was significantly lower than those of group A and the differences were statistically significant (all P<0. 05). The Slt in two groups decreased after operations and the Slt of group B was significantly lower than those of group A and the differences were statistically significant (all P<0. 05). At 1wk and 1mo postoperatively, the BUT in two groups decreased after operations and the BUT of group B was significantly lower than those of group A and the differences were statistically significant (all P<0. 05). At 6mo postoperatively, no significant change was found in the OSDl score, corneal sensation, BUT and S l t of group A compared with preoperatively (all P>0. 05). At 6mo postoperatively, the differences of OSDl score and corneal sensation in group B were statistically significant compared with preoperatively ( all P< 0. 05 ) while no significant change was found in the BUT and S l t of group B (all P>0. 05).
●CONCLUSION:Phacoemulsification surgery with 2. 2mm corneal micro-incision has less effect on change in tear function comparing to the 3. 0 mm incision control, which can be applied particularly in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Medical Sciences) 2009;29(6):720-4
Accumulating evidence suggests that the small G protein Rho and its downstream effector Rho kinase may play important roles in kidney biology. The present study examined the effects of a Rho-kinase inhibitor, fasudil, on daunorubicin-induced progressive glomerulosclerosis and explored the underlying mechanism by which fasudil ameliorates glomerulosclerosis. Thirty-six male SD rats were randomly allocated into sham-operation group (sham group, n=12), unilateral nephrectomy (UNX)+daunorubicin (DRB) group (model group, n=12), UNX+DRB+Fasudil group (treatment group, n=12). Two to four weeks after the establishment of the animal model, 6 rats in each group were taken randomly for the detection of 24-h urine protein excretion. Kidney sections were examined by HE and PAS staining, immunohistochemistry and transmission electric microscopy (TEM). The expression of Rho-kinase mRNA and P27 mRNA in kidney were detected by RT-PCR. It was found that the 24-h urine protein excretion in model group was increased significantly as compared with sham group (P<0.01). But this increase was significantly suppressed by fasudil (P<0.05). At 4 week, the foot process effacement in podocytes, mesangial proliferation and ECM accumulation were observed in model group, presenting as focal segmental glomerulosclerosis. But in the treatment group, the fasudil alleviated glomerular injury, with proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA)-positive cell infiltration ameliorated and the expression of P27 increased. The expression of Rho-kinase mRNA was significantly enhanced in model group and was suppressed in treatment group. Moreover, fasudil up-regulated the mRNA expression of P27. Our study demonstrated that the glomerulosclerosis was substantially ameliorated by inhibiting the expression of Rho-kinase. It is suggested that Rho-kinase pathway is involved in the renal injury and the inhibition of Rho-kinase may constitute a therapeutic strategy for the treatment of renal injury.

Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2020;18(1):33-39
Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of heat-sensitive moxibustion for adjuvant treatment of depression in Parkinson disease and explore its mechanism. Methods: A total of 80 patients with Parkinson disease coupled with depression were randomized into an observation group and a control group, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with levodopa and benserazide hydrochloride tablets and paroxetine tablets, while the observation group was treated with heat-sensitive moxibustion on the basis of the medications in the control group. The treatment course was 2 months. The Hamilton depression scale-17 (HAMD-17), unified Parkinson's disease rating scale (UPDRS) and Parkinson's disease quality of life questionnaire-39 (PDQ-39) were scored before and after the treatment, and the efficacy was evaluated after treatment. Levels of patients' serum dopamine (DA), 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) were detected before and after the treatment. Results: After treatment, the total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). The HAMD-17 scores in the two groups decreased significantly after treatment (both P<0.05), and the score in the observation group was obviously lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). The component scores and total scores of UPDRS in both groups decreased significantly (all P<0.05), and the scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (all P<0.05). The score of PDQ-39 in the observation group decreased significantly (P<0.05), and was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the serum DA and 5-HT levels in the observation group increased significantly (both P<0.05) and the TNF-α and IL-6 levels decreased significantly (both P<0.05), which were statistically different from those in the control group (all P<0.05). Conclusion: Heat-sensitive moxibustion has certain auxiliary effect in treating depression in Parkinson disease, significantly improving clinical symptoms and the quality of life, which may be related to the up-regulation of DA and 5-HT levels and down-regulation of TNF-α and IL-6 levels.
