Journal of Preventive Medicine 2024;36(10):865-868
Objective:
To investigate the changing trends in injury mortality among permanent residents in Jingzhou City, Hubei Province from 2017 to 2022, so as to provide the basis for formulating injury intervention measures.
Methods:
Injury death data of permanent residents in Jingzhou City from 2017 to 2022 were collected through the Population Death Information Registration and Management System of Chinese Disease Prevention and Control Information System. The crude mortality of injury was analyzed and the standardized mortality was calculated using the data from the Sixth National Population Census in 2010. The changing trend in injury mortality was analyzed using the annual percent change (APC).
Results:
There were 29 220 injury deaths among permanent residents in Jingzhou City from 2017 to 2022, with a crude mortality rate of 88.61/105. The crude mortality rate of injury was higher in males than in females (101.04/105 vs. 75.97/105, P<0.05). The crude mortality rates of injury in males, females and the whole population all showed upward trends (APC=6.572%, 9.232% and 7.731%, all P<0.05). Males, females and the whole population at the ages of 65 years and above appeared upward trends in crude mortality rates of injury (APC=4.603%, 5.064% and 4.851%, all P<0.05). No significant trends were observed in the crude mortality rate in the residents aged <15 years and 15 to <65 years (both P>0.05). The top five causes of injury death were suicide (25.81/105), falls (24.38/105), motor vehicle traffic accident (17.23/105), drowning (8.61/105), and other unintentional accidents and harmful effects (5.63/105). From 2021 to 2022, falls rose to the first cause of injury mortality.
Conclusions
The crude mortality of injury among permanent residents in Jingzhou City from 2017 to 2022 showed an upward trend. Males and residents aged 65 years and above should be prioritized for intervention measures. Notably, falls have become the top cause of injury from 2021 to 2022.

The contents of coumarins in the sulfur fumigated Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Baizhi, ADR) were reduced significantly. To achieve the quality control of ADR, the qualitative identification of sulfur fumigated ADR and quantitative model of imperatorin content should be established. The near-infrared (NIR) spectrograms of non-sulfur and sulfur fumigated ADR were collected by NIR diffuse reflectance spectroscopy technology and pretreated by the method of first derivative derivation and vector normalization. The Ward's Algorithm method was used for the cluster analysis. The non-sulfur and sulfur fumigated ADR can be quickly identified in the range of 8,806. 0-3 811.0 cm(-1) based on the cluster analysis. The NIR quantitative model of imperatorin was established by the contents of imperatorin determined by HPLC in combination with partial least squares regression analysis. According to the calibration model established in this study, correlation coefficients (R2), the root-mean-square error of cross-validation (RMSECV), and the root-mean-square error of prediction (RMSEP) for imperatorin were 0.982 8, 0.006 8, 0.011 8, respectively. The quantitative model of imperatorin can be applied to determine the content of imperatorin in ADR accurately.

Objective To investigate the effects of antioxidant response element (ARE) activator- 5,6-dihydrocyclopenta[ C ]-1,2-dithiole-3-thione (CPDT) on organotypic spinal cord cultures and to study whether this activation can protect motor neurons from oxidative stress. Methods Organotypic spinal cord cultures were prepared using lumbar spinal cord slices from 8-day-old rat.Threo-hydroxyaspartate (THA) was continuously added into the culture medium for 3 weeks, which caused selective motor neuron death. Thus, the in vitro model of amyotrophic Lateral sclerosis (ALS) was established.15,30 ?mol/L of CPDT were added into the culture medium respectively.Ventral motor neurons survival was evaluated by immunohistochemical staining with monoclonal antibody SMI-32,a nonphosphorylated neurofilament marker. Ultrastructure was observed with electronic microscope. Results The pretreatment of organotypic spinal cord cultures with different concentrations of CPDT significantly increase the total number of ventral motor neurons (15?mol/L:(15.81?6.97) perexplant;30?mol/L:(16.25?6.74) perexplant respectively) compared with THA group ((5.31?5.76) perexplant) and the former had plentiful neurite extensions (n= 15,P
