A safe and effective anesthesia technique is necessary in ensuring a successful surgical operation in rabbit experiments.A variety of anesthesiamethod have been reported, yet, no one matured and widely accepted anesthesiamethod is available so far.This article aims to provide an information basis for further research on general anesthesia in rabbits by reviewing the literature on single and combined anesthesia techniques in rabbits reported in the last decade.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the efficacy and safety of acupuncture and moxibustion in the treatment of post-stroke depression (PSD) by regulating the liver and strengthening the root prescription.

METHODSIn light of the random controlled trial principle, 123 cases were randomized into an acupuncture-moxibustion group (42 cases), a medication group (40 cases) and an acupuncture + medication group (41 cases). In the acupuncture-moxibustion group, the therapy of regulating the liver and strengthening the root was applied. Acupuncture was given at Hegu (LI 4), Taichong (LR 3), Baihui (GV 20, Yintang (GV 29), etc. The granule moxibustion was applied at Zhongwan (CV 12), Xiawan (CV 10), Guanyuan (CV 4) and Qihai (CV 6). The treatment was given once a day and stopped in weekend. In the medication group, paroxetine hydrochloride tablets were prescribed for oral administration, 20 mg each day after breakfast. In the acupuncture + medication group, the therapies were adopted as the acupuncture-moxibustion group and the medication group. In the 2nd and 4th week of treatment, HAMD was used as the primary index and Barthel index as the secondary one for the efficacy assessment in the three groups respectively. The spleen and stomach syndrome scale of TCM was used for the assessment of TCM syndrome efficacy. Treatment emergent symptom scale (TESS) was applied for the safety assessment.

RESULTSIn the 4th week of treatment, the markedly effective rates were 69.0% (29/42), 65.0% (26/40) and 70.7% (29/41) in the acupuncture-moxibustion group, the medication group and the acupuncture + medication group respectively. The efficacies of anti-depression were similar in comparison among groups (P > 0.05). In the 2nd week of treatment, the improvement of HAMD score was significant in the acupuncture + medication group as compared with that before treatment and in comparison with the medication group (P < 0.05, P < 0.01). As for improving Barthel index, reducing the spleen and stomach symptom score of TCM and decreasing the score of TESS, the results in the acupuncture-moxibustion group and the acupuncture + medication group were superior to those in the medication group (P < 0.05, P < 0.01).

CONCLUSIONThe therapy of acupuncture and moxibustion with regulating the liver and strengthening the root achieves the definite efficacy of anti-depression and presents the quite high safety in treatment.

【Objective】To observe the efficacy and side effects of hematopietic stem cell transplantation with combination of umbilical cord blood(UCB) and neonatal peripheral blood(NPB) in the treatment of β-thalassemia major.【Methods】28 mL NPB was drawn from a HLA identical neonate within 5 hours after his birth to complement stem cell of the UCB he donated for transplantation to his sibling with β-thalassemia major.Various items of hematopoiesis reconstruction were detected in UCB and NPB respectively.After conditioning with chemotherapy by using busulfan 20 mg/kg,cyclophosphamide 200 mg/kg,melphalan 90 mg/m2 and antithymocyte globulin(ATG) 90 mg/kg,the patient received the 53 mL UCB and 28 mL NPB,achieving 5.7×107/kg nucleated cells(NC),93×105/kg CFU-GM and 3.1×105/kg CD34+CD38- cells from his HLA-identical sibling.【Results】Absolute nucleated cell(ANC) reached 0.5×109/L on 14th day post transplant,and platelets reached 20×109/L on 34th day after transplant.The heterozygosity of β-654 mutation point was detected by the PCR-RDB.The sexual chromosome changed from XX pretransplant to XY posttransplant.The patient was free red blood cell transfusion from 14th day post transplant.Her hemoglobin rose progressively from 86 g/L to 110 g/L.The patient survived for 197 days free from disease after transplantation.Following up for 9 months, the donor grew and developed normally.【Conclusion】The NPB contains a lot of stem cells.The transplantation with combination of suitable NPB and UCB is an effective tactics when the UCB cells are deficient.

Objective To evaluate the conventional ultrasound (US) and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) in diagnosis of splenic trauma including its grading diagnosis. Methods US and CEUS in 42 patients with splenic trauma confirmed by CT and/or operation were performed during 9.2004-10.2007. All the data were compared and analyzed retrospectively. Results Of 42 patients with splenic trauma, 28 cases were detected and 14 cases were missed on US examination, whereas, 40 cases were detected and only 2 mild cases were missed on CEUS examination. The detection rate of lesions with CEUS was significantly higher than that of US (P<0.001) . Ten cases in grading the injury were underestimated by US, however, none of them were underestimated by CEUS. CEUS had good concordance with CT and/or operation in grading diagnosis of 42 cases except two mild cases. Conclusions CEUS has very good concordance with CT and/or operation in detecting injury and grading the splenic trauma compared with conventional US. CEUS as a new imaging technology has made great advance of ultrasoongraphy in evaluation of splenic trauma including injury grading,and it is very useful in clinical application.

[Summary] According to urinary albumin excretion rates ( UAER) , 256 patients with type 2 diabete mellitus (T2DM) were divided into normal albuminuria (NA), microalbuminuria (MA), and clinical nephropathy (CN) groups while 108 healthy subjects as control group. The analysis of variance of single factor was applied to examine lipoprotein(a), triglyceride, total cholesterol(TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C), cystatin C, and homocysteine. The correlations of lipoprotein ( a ) with urinary albumin excretion rate ( UAER ) and glomerular filtration rate ( eGFR ) were analyzed by Pearson correlation analysis. The sensitivities of lipoprotein ( a ) were evaluated in diagnosis of diabetic nephropathy ( DN) by receiver operating characteristic curve. The results showed that lipoprotein ( a) levels in NA, MA, and CN groups were gradually increased, with a significant increase in CN group(P<0. 05). Pearson correlation analysis revealed that lipoprotein (a) was positively correlated with systolic pressure, TC, cystatin C, and UAER(all P<0. 05) and negatively correlated with fasting blood glucose and eGFR (P<0. 05). The area under the ROC curve of lipoprotein(a) was 0. 639, with the sensitivity 66. 4% and specificity 55. 9% in the optimal cutoff value of 8. 41 mg/dl. These results suggest that lipoprotein(a) may serve as an index for monitoring DN based on its better correlation with UAER and eGFR.

Armillariella tabescens EJLY2098 was capable of secreting p-mannanase by konjac inducement. A 34 orthogonal design was applied to determine the optimum medium of inducing mannanase by Armillariella tabescens EJLY2098. The results suggested that Armillariella tabescens EJLY2098 secreted the high-activity enzyme in the optimum medium, which was composed of 2% konjac, 1% peptone, 25% potato juice,0.3% KH2PO4,15% MgSO4?7H2O, 0.01% VitB1. Purified by DEAE-anion exchange chromatography, two eluting peaks (P1 and P2) with the p-mannanase activity were obtained, and one of them (named?-mannanase P2) was a single band by the SDS-PAGE, and the molecular weight of?-mannanase P2 was 78. 9kDa. The isoelectric point of?-mannanase P2 was estimated to be 4.0-4. 1. The optimum activity for the enzyme was found at 60℃and pH4. 0 - 6. 0, and the enzyme was stable between pH4. 5 - 6. 0. The activity of?-mannanase P2 were enhanced by Na+ and Ba2+ . This?-mannanase can be used in feed industy. a new fungi secreting?-mannanase was obtained, providing an important base for cloning mannanase gene and constructing recombin microbe expressing?-mannanase .

Objective To investigate the effects of early rehabilitative training program on patients with acute myocardial infarction(AMI).Methods One hundred and twenty-two patients with AMI were randomly divided into early rehabilitation group(n=62)and control group(n=60).In addition to routine treatment,patients in rehabilitation group received early rehabilitative training mainly by walking exercise for two weeks.Results There were no significant differences in ventricular arrhythmia(Lown≥Ⅲ), extension of infarction and heart rate variability(HRV)between the two groups(P＞0.05).Forty of 62 patients(64.5%)in rehabilitation group had their left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF)more than or equal to 50% in the 3~(rd)～4~(th)week after admission,significantly higher than that in control group(45.0%, 27/60 ;P＜0.01 ).By the end of the 4~(th)week after admission,25.8% of the patients in rehabilitation group showed positive in treadmill test,significantly lower than that in control group(38.3%,P＜0.01). Occurrence of angina pectoris and reinfarction and fatality in rehabilitation group were significantly lower than those in control group(P＜0.05)during their hospitalization and follow-up period.Patients in rehabilitation group stayed at hospital for(16?3)days in average,significantly less than that in control group[(27?4) days],with statistically significant difference(P＜0.05).Conclusion Early rehabilitative training for patients with uncomplicated AMI is not only safe and feasible,but also useful in improvement for their prognosis and quality of life.

The dynamic changes of germination percentage, germination potential, thousand-seed weight, antioxidase activity in Desmodium styracifolium seeds with different storage time were tested, and electrical conductivity, contents of soluble sugar, soluble protein, starch in seed leach liquor were also determined in order to reveal the mechanism of seed deterioration. The results as the following. (1) The germination percentage, germination potential and thousand-seed weight of D. styracifolium seeds declined, while the seed coat color darkened with the extension of storage time. (2) The activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and peroxidase (POD) decreased with the prolongation of storage period. The SOD activity declined fastest in 1,095-1,185 d of storage, while the POD activity declined significantly in 365-395 d of storage. (3) The electrical conductivity and the contents of soluble sugar, starch in seed leach liquor increased, while the content of soluble protein declined with the extension of storage time. (4) Correlation analysis indicated that the germination percentage, germination potential and thousand-seed weight of D. styracifolium seeds have a significantly positive correlation with SOD and POD activity, while have a significantly negative correlation with the electrical conductivity, contents of soluble sugar and starch. It can be concluded that during the storage of D. styracifolium seeds, physiological and biochemical changes including decrease in antioxidase activity, rise in electrical conductivity, degradation effluent of soluble sugar and starch, degradation of soluble protein were the main factors leading to the seed deterioration.
