OBJECTIVETo observe the clinical efficacy of artificial skin combined with vacuum sealing drainage (VSD) in treating large-area skin defects.
METHODSTotally 18 patients with skin defects, treated with artificial skin combined with VSD from September 2008 to May 2009 in our hospital, were retrospectively analyzed in this study. There were 15 males and 3 females, aged 7-66 years, 34.3 years on average. Among them, 10 cases had skin laceration caused by traffic accidents (7 with open fractures), 1 mangled injury, 1 blast injury, 1 stump infection combined with skin defects after amputation and 5 heel ulcers.
RESULTSAll skin grafts in 16 cases survived after being controlled by VSD for one time. For the rest 2 patients, one with skin avulsion on the left foot was given median thickness skin grafts after three times of VSD, the other with open fractures in the left tibia and fibula caused by a traffic accident was given free flap transplantation. Skin grafts of both patients survived, with normal color and rich blood supply.
CONCLUSIONSkin grafting in conjunction with artificial skin and VSD is much more effective than traditional dressing treatment and worth wide application in clinic.

The dynamic changes of germination percentage, germination potential, thousand-seed weight, antioxidase activity in Desmodium styracifolium seeds with different storage time were tested, and electrical conductivity, contents of soluble sugar, soluble protein, starch in seed leach liquor were also determined in order to reveal the mechanism of seed deterioration. The results as the following. (1) The germination percentage, germination potential and thousand-seed weight of D. styracifolium seeds declined, while the seed coat color darkened with the extension of storage time. (2) The activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and peroxidase (POD) decreased with the prolongation of storage period. The SOD activity declined fastest in 1,095-1,185 d of storage, while the POD activity declined significantly in 365-395 d of storage. (3) The electrical conductivity and the contents of soluble sugar, starch in seed leach liquor increased, while the content of soluble protein declined with the extension of storage time. (4) Correlation analysis indicated that the germination percentage, germination potential and thousand-seed weight of D. styracifolium seeds have a significantly positive correlation with SOD and POD activity, while have a significantly negative correlation with the electrical conductivity, contents of soluble sugar and starch. It can be concluded that during the storage of D. styracifolium seeds, physiological and biochemical changes including decrease in antioxidase activity, rise in electrical conductivity, degradation effluent of soluble sugar and starch, degradation of soluble protein were the main factors leading to the seed deterioration.

Chinese Journal of Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Diseases 2005;23(1):20-23
OBJECTIVETo study the protective effect of hyperoxia solution on acute lung injury caused by phosgene poisoning by observing the changes of PaO2 and malondialdehyde (MDA) contents, superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity in serum and Glutathione (GSH/GSSG) contents in lung tissues.
METHODSThe rabbits were divided into normal control group, hyperoxia solution (H0) and balance salt (BS) groups. Group HO and Group BS inhaled phosgene and the former was given intravenously hyperoxia solution (which was replaced by balance salt solution in Group BS). The content of MDA and the activity of SOD in serum were observed at different time points, the amount of GSH and GSSG in lung tissue were also measured.
RESULTS(1) The serum MDA contents increased and PaO2, SOD activity decreased significantly in Group HO and Group BS along with time increasing as compared with control group. The contents of GSH in lung tissue decreased in two groups compared with that in control group, however the contents of GSSG ascended instead. (2) At 3 and 8 h of the experiment, PaO2 of Group HO [(9.91 +/- 0.49), (9.15 +/- 0.46) mm Hg respectively] were significantly higher than those of Group BS [(9.03 +/- 0.76), (8.11 +/- 0.57) mm Hg respectively] (P < 0.01). The contents of MDA of Group HO (3.66 +/- 0.35), (5.31 +/- 0.15) micromol/L respectively] were lower than those of Group BS [(4.32 +/- 0.26), (7.4 +/- 0.33) micromol/L respectively] (P < 0.01). SOD activity in Group HO [(237.37 +/- 29.96), (208.10 +/- 18.80) NU/ml respectively] were higher than those of Group BS [(195.02 +/- 21.44), (144.87 +/- 21.26) NU/ml respectively] (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01). The content of GSSG lung tissue in Group HO (423.67 +/- 38.21) micromol/L were lower than those of Group BS (523.85 +/- 43.14) mol/L (P < 0.01). There were no significant differences in the content of GSH in lung tissues between Group HO and group BS.
CONCLUSIONHyperoxia solution can reduce acute lung injury of rabbits following phosgene poisoning.

Chinese Journal of Experimental and Clinical Virology 2009;23(1):29-31
Objective To test the infeciton efficiency of recombinant adenovixal vector carrying HBsAg-HSP70 chimeric gene and to abserve its biological characteristics. Methods Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) were separated from healthy blood donor and they were infected by Ad-HSP70-HBsAg on the first day of isolation. DCs were induced in medium with cytokines IL-4, GM-CSF and TNF-α in vitro. The biological characteristics of DC induced were analyzed by inverted fluorecent microscope, RT-PCR, flow cytometer(FACS), and mixed lymphocyte reaction (MLR). Results The traced gene-GFP were abserved in DCs by inverted fluorecent microscope and HSP70-HBsAg gene mRNA expression was detected by RT-PCR after the Ad-HSP70-HBsAg infection. FACS analysis shown that the expression of CD1a,CDSO,CD86 and HLA-DR on surfece of two groups of DCs were similar. MLR showed that there are not a statitie difference of stimulated index (SI) between two groups. Conclusion Results indicated that Ad-HSP70-HBsAg can effectively infected DCs without affecting its biological characteristics.

Asian Nursing Research 2023;17(1):23-29
Purpose:
The aim of this study was to investigate the associations between nutrition, physical activity, fatigue, and quality of life (QoL) among childhood cancer survivors. The specific purpose was to examine whether nutrition mediated and physical activity moderated the relationship between fatigue and QoL in this population.
Methods:
A pooled sample of 120 childhood cancer survivors was recruited at pediatric oncology wards and ambulatory settings between August 2020 and May 2021. We collected data on participants’ demographic characteristics, fatigue, nutritional status, physical activity, and QoL. We then adapted Hayes Process Macro to examine the mediating and moderating effects of nutrition and physical activity on the relationship between fatigue and QoL.
Results:
In models adjusted for age and sex, (1) the simple mediation analysis identified the mediating effect of nutrition on the relationship between fatigue and QoL; and (2) the mediation and moderation analysis identified that the direct effect of nutrition between fatigue and QoL was significant when adding (a) physical activity and (b) fatigue × physical activity. There were significantly decreasing trends in physical activity at 1 standard deviation below the mean and at the mean, but not at 1 standard deviation above the mean.
Conclusions
Our findings demonstrate that nutrition mediated and physical activity moderated the relationship between fatigue and QoL. This highlights an opportunity to enhance QoL among childhood cancer survivors through healthy lifestyle interventions. To ensure that future interventions address children's needs and promote the greatest impact, such interventions should include nutrition and physical activity components that involve nurses, pediatric oncology physicians, nutritionists, and physical therapists.Keyword
