To investigate whether accelerated blood clearance (ABC) phenomenon could be induced after repeated injection of mitoxantrone thermosensitive liposomes, LC-MS/MS and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) were used to measure the concentration of mitoxantrone and the anti-polyethylene glycol (PEG) IgM levels in rat plasma, separately. The drug was rapidly cleared away after the second administration. The anti-PEG IgM was detected after the first dose which was neutralized quickly after the second dose. It is proved that repeated administration of mitoxantrone thermosensitive liposomes in rat caused the ABC phenomenon.

Chinese Journal of Epidemiology 2010;31(9):1009-1012
Objective To study the preventive strategies through analyzing the poisoning cases from the National Injury Surveillance System (NISS), from 2006 to 2008. Methods Data of poisoning cases was descriptively analyzed from Chinese NISS, from 2006 to 2008. Results The proportion of poisoning cases to all injuries cases from NISS were 2.57%, 2.48% and 2.52% from 2006 to 2008, which ranked sixth in all the injuries causes. Most people being poisoned had junior middle school education and most of them were agriculture/animal husbandry/fishery/water producers or commercial/service personnel. Most of the poisoning incidents were happened at home, always occurred in leisure time - around 8 PM, every day. The common types of poisoning were alcohol, clinical drugs, pesticide and carbon monoxide. Unintentional injuries were the main causes. Self-harm/suicidal cases in the rural areas were more than in the urban areas, with women more than men. The main type of self-harm/suicide related poisoning cases were through drugs or pesticide. ≥65, 15-29and 30-44 year-olds were most commonly seen. Conclusion Alcoholism was the primary type of poisoning injuries which is the highest in young adults ( 15-29 years and 30-44 years). It's important to promote civilized drinking habits and limit access to alcohol for youth. Self-harm/suicide had close relationship with clinical drugs and pesticide. The key points to prevent pesticide and clinical drugs poisoning were safe storage of pesticides, universal security of pesticide, and the supervision on drug producing and marketing. Children and the elderly were the high risk people for carbon monoxide poisoning. Monitoring and intervention must be strengthened.

OBJECTIVETo study the contribution of executive function to abnormal recognition of facial expressions of emotion in schizophrenia patients.
METHODSAbnormal recognition of facial expressions of emotion was assayed according to Japanese and Caucasian facial expressions of emotion (JACFEE), Wisconsin card sorting test (WCST), positive and negative symptom scale, and Hamilton anxiety and depression scale, respectively, in 88 paranoid schizophrenia patients and 75 healthy volunteers.
RESULTSPatients scored higher on the Positive and Negative Symptom Scale and the Hamilton Anxiety and Depression Scales, displayed lower JACFEE recognition accuracies and poorer WCST performances. The JACFEE recognition accuracy of contempt and disgust was negatively correlated with the negative symptom scale score while the recognition accuracy of fear was positively with the positive symptom scale score and the recognition accuracy of surprise was negatively with the general psychopathology score in patients. Moreover, the WCST could predict the JACFEE recognition accuracy of contempt, disgust, and sadness in patients, and the perseverative errors negatively predicted the recognition accuracy of sadness in healthy volunteers. The JACFEE recognition accuracy of sadness could predict the WCST categories in paranoid schizophrenia patients.
CONCLUSIONRecognition accuracy of social-/moral emotions, such as contempt, disgust and sadness is related to the executive function in paranoid schizophrenia patients, especially when regarding sadness.

Chinese Medical Journal 2002;115(12):1796-1801
OBJECTIVETo observe the in vitro growth inhibitory and apoptosis-inducing effects of paclitaxel on the human osteosarcoma cell line U-2 OS.
METHODSU-2 OS cells were treated with various concentrations of paclitaxel. Proliferation was determined by cell count in a neubauer cytometer chamber. Viability was assessed by trypan blue dye exclusion. Paclitaxel-induced morphologic alterations were visualized using light and transmission electron microscopy. The extent of paclitaxel-induced apoptosis was determined by flow cytometry and immunohistochemical detection (TdT-mediated dUTP nick end labeling technique, TUNEL).
RESULTSThe cells treated with paclitaxel initially showed G(2)/M arrest, which was followed by apoptosis. The characteristic apoptotic changes, including nuclear disintegration and chromatin agglomeration, were displayed. Large amounts of micronuclei cells appeared, something not observed in those cells treated with cisplatin and adriamycin for contrast. Also, extensive DNA-cleavage was detected using TUNEL.
CONCLUSIONThis study demonstrates that paclitaxel has an apoptotic-inducing effect on osteosarcoma cells through the initiation of G(2)/M arrest and inhibiting mitosis in both a time-dependent and dose-dependent manner.
