Through searching domestic and foreign medical journals in CNKI, Wanfang database, VIP database and Pubmed database from January of 2003 to November of 2013, 39 articles regarding musical electroacupuncture (MEA) were analyzed. The result showed that MEA was clinically used to treat neurological and psychotic disorders; because it was combined with musical therapy and overcame the acupuncture tolerability, and MEA was superior to traditional electroacupuncture. However, problems such as low research efficiency and the mechanism of MEA superiority and the musical specificity not being revealed by research design still exist. In future, large-sample multi-center RCT researches should be performed to clarify MEA clinical efficacy. With modern science and technology and optimized study design, guided by five-element theory of TCM, researches on different musical elements and characteristics of musical pulse current as well as MEA's correlation with meridians and organs should be studied, so as to make a further exploration on MEA mechanisms and broaden the range of its clinical application.

Objective To study the effect of injured podocytes on glomerular maturation and its underlying mechanism in neonatal mice. Methods Single i.p.injection with puromycin aminonucleoside (PA,0.1 mg/g BW) was given to ICR neonatal mice at day 1 after birth (1 dpp). Littermates injected with normal saline (NS) were used as control.Animals were examined for urine protein, blood pressure, kidney weight/body weight (KW/BW),renal histology at 2,4,8,12, 30,60 and 90 dpp (n=6~9 for each group).Immunohistochemistry and quantitative RT-PCR were performed to examine the expression of WT-1,CD31,VEGF,Flk-1,Ang-1,Ang-2,Tie-1 and Tie-2.Results Mice with PA injection had lower kidney weight and body weight at all time points as well as lower KW/BW at 4,8,12 dpp when compared with NS controls.Electron microscopy revealed nearly complete foot process effacement and segmental microvillous transformation as early as 1 day after PA injection.PA-injected kidneys showed fewer capillary loops and decreased maturation index as well as less CD31-positive endothelium in cortical glomeruli at 12 dpp. Glomerular mesangial injury and developing glomerulosclerosis along with proteinuria were noted in PA-injected kidneys starting from 30 dpp.Significantly increased systolic blood pressure was detected at 60 dpp in PA mice.Compared with NS injection,PA injection significantly induced decreased mRNA expression of Flk-1 and Tie-2 as well as increased expression of Ang-1,without obvious changes of VEGF at 2 dpp. Conclusions Podocytes in neonatal kidney of ICR mice are susceptible to PA. Such podocyte injury can alter the expression of VEGF and angiopoietin system in glomeruli, leading to abnormal development of glomerular capillaries, and subsequent proteinuria, hypertension and glomerulosclerosis.

OBJECTIVETaking Chinese compound medicine Yuchangning as a research model, prepared the pH and time dependent Yuchangning tablets for colon-specific delivery (PT-YT-CSD), and evaluated the releasing property in vitro.
METHODThe coating prescription is filtered by the release extent of matrine and oxymatrine in vitro and the wicking rate of the tablet, which including the category and proportion of film forming agent and porogen, the sort and dosage of fluidizing agent, the increment of weight after coating and so on. The releasing property of the preparation is evaluated by the dissolution tests in vitro through measuring the content of matrine and oxymatrine content.
RESULTThe preparation method of the PYTCSD: After prepared plain tablets, the 95% alcoholic solution of EC and Eudragit II are mixed in a 7:3 EC: Eudragit II ratio and then added in DEP up to 10% of the coating amount, reduced the alcohol concentration to 4% by diluting with ethonal. Tablet was coated by the alcohol solution and the weight of the plain tablet was increased by 3%. The dissolution tests in vitro indicated that matrine and oxymatrine were not dissolved in the simulated gastric juice after 2 h. The accumulative quantities of matrine and oxymatrine were less than 10% in the simulated intestinal juice after 4 h. The quantities of matrine and oxymatrine are 75.7% and 76.8% in the simulated colon juice after 1 h.
CONCLUSIONThe PYTCSD was prepared and the preparation could fulfil the aim of delivering in the specific colon in vitro.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the clinical short-term results of the acellular dermal matrix for guided bone regeneration.
METHODSSixty-four patients with bone defect in anterior maxillary area (average bone width: 3 mm) were included. Ridge-splitting technique with simultaneous placement of implants and artificial bone material implantation was performed in 21 patients (non-membrane group). Forty-three patients received the same procedure but with acellular dermal matrix covering the surgical sites (membrane group). The patients were followed up for three months and the new bone formation was checked in clinic and by X-ray.
RESULTSThree months after operation, the membrane group showed good osseointegration and high bone density over the implant cover screws. In the second operation, the membranes became thinner and the new bone fully covered the implant in the membrane group. The labial bone exhibited slight absorption and labial surface of 7 implants in 7 patients was exposed in non-membrane group. The width and the height of the ridge in the second operation were greater in membrane group than in non-membrane group (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSThe acellular dermal matrix can effectively resist the growth of soft tissue to allow bone regeneration around the implant.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the neurobiological characteristics of human histio-amniotic mesenchymal (hAMCs) and effect of hAMCs transplantation into the brain to treat Parkinson's disease(PD) modle mice.MethodsThe expressions of mesenchymal stem cells, neural stem cells, dopaminergic neurons and markers related to neurogenesis such as Vimentin, STRO-1, nestin, CD133, β-tubulin, TH, DAT, Ngn2 and mash-1 in hAMCs were evaluated through immunocytochemical stain; and the mRNA transcriptions of neural stem cell markers, Vimentin and nestin in hAMCs were detected by RT-PCR. The PD model was induced by MPTP(i.p.) in C57BL/6 mice transplanted with hAMCs into the right striatum. The therapeutical effect of hAMCs on PD mice was evaluated by spontaneous movement, rotating bar test and the immunohistochemistry of anti-human chondrosome and TH antibodies in striatum.ResultshAMCs induced by nerve cells culture medium, expressed mesenchymal stem cells, neural stem cells, dopaminergic neurons and other specific markers related to neurogenesis mentioned above. The frequency of spontaneous movement in PD mice was significantly increased(P<0-05), and the time of rotating bar was obviously prolonged(P<0-05) after transplantation with hAMCs.ConclusionhAMCs possess the characteristics of nerve cells after cultured in vitro and can significantly recover the damage of motor function induced by MPTP after transplantation into striatum in PD model mice.

OBJECTIVETo look for the evidences of motilin receptor expression on interstitial cells of Cajal (ICC) of the rabbit.
METHODSmooth muscle segments with ICC were isolated from the small intestine of 10-day old rabbits. The tissue segments equilibrated in Ca(2+)-free Hanks' solution were dispersed with an enzyme solution containing collagenase type II and then Ficoll density centrifugation was used to dissociate ICC. The cells were suspended and cultured in the M199 medium. The c-kit antibody was applied to distinguish the cultured ICC. The motilin receptor was identified by immunocytochemical assay with GPR38 antibody, c-kit antibody and hoechst 33342 combined to label ICC. Cells cultured for a few days were sorted for ICC with c-kit stained green fluorescent through flow cytometry. The total RNA and proteins extracted from the sorted ICC were respectively used to verify motilin receptor on the ICC by reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and Western blotting.
RESULTWe had successfully dissociated and cultured ICC of rabbit small intestine in vitro. Fluorescent staining with c-kit antibody confirmed that the culture ICC was successful. Triple-labeled immunofluorescent staining had detected the motilin receptor on membrane of ICC. Flow cytometry analysis showed that the ratio of c-kit positive cell in the cultured cells was 64.3%. The number of sorted ICC was 6.7 × 10(5) and 5.6 × 10(6). The results of RT-PCR and Western blot confirmed that the ICC had motilin receptor expression.
CONCLUSIONOur study demonstrated presence of motilin receptor on ICC of the rabbit. The present results may suggest that ICC play an important role in gastrointestinal movement induced by motilin.
