Through searching domestic and foreign medical journals in CNKI, Wanfang database, VIP database and Pubmed database from January of 2003 to November of 2013, 39 articles regarding musical electroacupuncture (MEA) were analyzed. The result showed that MEA was clinically used to treat neurological and psychotic disorders; because it was combined with musical therapy and overcame the acupuncture tolerability, and MEA was superior to traditional electroacupuncture. However, problems such as low research efficiency and the mechanism of MEA superiority and the musical specificity not being revealed by research design still exist. In future, large-sample multi-center RCT researches should be performed to clarify MEA clinical efficacy. With modern science and technology and optimized study design, guided by five-element theory of TCM, researches on different musical elements and characteristics of musical pulse current as well as MEA's correlation with meridians and organs should be studied, so as to make a further exploration on MEA mechanisms and broaden the range of its clinical application.

Objective To study the effect of injured podocytes on glomerular maturation and its underlying mechanism in neonatal mice. Methods Single i.p.injection with puromycin aminonucleoside (PA,0.1 mg/g BW) was given to ICR neonatal mice at day 1 after birth (1 dpp). Littermates injected with normal saline (NS) were used as control.Animals were examined for urine protein, blood pressure, kidney weight/body weight (KW/BW),renal histology at 2,4,8,12, 30,60 and 90 dpp (n=6~9 for each group).Immunohistochemistry and quantitative RT-PCR were performed to examine the expression of WT-1,CD31,VEGF,Flk-1,Ang-1,Ang-2,Tie-1 and Tie-2.Results Mice with PA injection had lower kidney weight and body weight at all time points as well as lower KW/BW at 4,8,12 dpp when compared with NS controls.Electron microscopy revealed nearly complete foot process effacement and segmental microvillous transformation as early as 1 day after PA injection.PA-injected kidneys showed fewer capillary loops and decreased maturation index as well as less CD31-positive endothelium in cortical glomeruli at 12 dpp. Glomerular mesangial injury and developing glomerulosclerosis along with proteinuria were noted in PA-injected kidneys starting from 30 dpp.Significantly increased systolic blood pressure was detected at 60 dpp in PA mice.Compared with NS injection,PA injection significantly induced decreased mRNA expression of Flk-1 and Tie-2 as well as increased expression of Ang-1,without obvious changes of VEGF at 2 dpp. Conclusions Podocytes in neonatal kidney of ICR mice are susceptible to PA. Such podocyte injury can alter the expression of VEGF and angiopoietin system in glomeruli, leading to abnormal development of glomerular capillaries, and subsequent proteinuria, hypertension and glomerulosclerosis.

OBJECTIVETaking Chinese compound medicine Yuchangning as a research model, prepared the pH and time dependent Yuchangning tablets for colon-specific delivery (PT-YT-CSD), and evaluated the releasing property in vitro.
METHODThe coating prescription is filtered by the release extent of matrine and oxymatrine in vitro and the wicking rate of the tablet, which including the category and proportion of film forming agent and porogen, the sort and dosage of fluidizing agent, the increment of weight after coating and so on. The releasing property of the preparation is evaluated by the dissolution tests in vitro through measuring the content of matrine and oxymatrine content.
RESULTThe preparation method of the PYTCSD: After prepared plain tablets, the 95% alcoholic solution of EC and Eudragit II are mixed in a 7:3 EC: Eudragit II ratio and then added in DEP up to 10% of the coating amount, reduced the alcohol concentration to 4% by diluting with ethonal. Tablet was coated by the alcohol solution and the weight of the plain tablet was increased by 3%. The dissolution tests in vitro indicated that matrine and oxymatrine were not dissolved in the simulated gastric juice after 2 h. The accumulative quantities of matrine and oxymatrine were less than 10% in the simulated intestinal juice after 4 h. The quantities of matrine and oxymatrine are 75.7% and 76.8% in the simulated colon juice after 1 h.
CONCLUSIONThe PYTCSD was prepared and the preparation could fulfil the aim of delivering in the specific colon in vitro.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the neurobiological characteristics of human histio-amniotic mesenchymal (hAMCs) and effect of hAMCs transplantation into the brain to treat Parkinson's disease(PD) modle mice.MethodsThe expressions of mesenchymal stem cells, neural stem cells, dopaminergic neurons and markers related to neurogenesis such as Vimentin, STRO-1, nestin, CD133, β-tubulin, TH, DAT, Ngn2 and mash-1 in hAMCs were evaluated through immunocytochemical stain; and the mRNA transcriptions of neural stem cell markers, Vimentin and nestin in hAMCs were detected by RT-PCR. The PD model was induced by MPTP(i.p.) in C57BL/6 mice transplanted with hAMCs into the right striatum. The therapeutical effect of hAMCs on PD mice was evaluated by spontaneous movement, rotating bar test and the immunohistochemistry of anti-human chondrosome and TH antibodies in striatum.ResultshAMCs induced by nerve cells culture medium, expressed mesenchymal stem cells, neural stem cells, dopaminergic neurons and other specific markers related to neurogenesis mentioned above. The frequency of spontaneous movement in PD mice was significantly increased(P<0-05), and the time of rotating bar was obviously prolonged(P<0-05) after transplantation with hAMCs.ConclusionhAMCs possess the characteristics of nerve cells after cultured in vitro and can significantly recover the damage of motor function induced by MPTP after transplantation into striatum in PD model mice.

OBJECTIVETo explore the relationship between genetic polymorphism of quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1), glutathione S-transferase theta 1 (GSTT1), glutathiones S-transferase mu 1 (GSTM1) and susceptibility to chronic benzene poisoning (BP).
METHODSThe genotypes of NQO1, GSTT1, GSTM1 for 100 patients with benzene poisoning and 90 workers exposed to benzene who were engaged in the same working time and job title as patients with benzene poisoning were detected by PCR-RFLP and multi-PCR.
RESULTSThere was a 2.82-fold (95% CI: 1.42 approximately 5.58, P < 0.05) increased risk of BP in the subjects with NQO1 C609T mutation genotype (T/T) compared with those carrying heterozygous (C/T) and wild type (C/C), and there was a 2.94-fold (95% CI: 1.25 approximately 6.90, P < 0.05) increased risk of BP in the subjects with NQO1 C609T T/T genotype compared with those carrying C/C genotype. The subjects with GSTT1 null genotype had a 1.91-fold (95% CI: 1.05 approximately 3.45, P < 0.05) increased risk of BP compared with those with GSTT1 non-null genotype. The interaction of two genes showed that there was a increased risk of BP in subjects with any two genotypes of NQO1 C609T T/T genotype and GSTT1 null genotype and GSTM1 null genotype, compared to the individual with any two genotypes of NQO1 C609T C/C genotype and GSTT1 non-null genotype and GSTM1 non-null genotype. The interaction of three genes showed that there was a 20.41-fold (95% CI: 3.79 approximately 111.11, P < 0.01) increased risk of BP in subjects with NQO1 C609T T/T genotype and GSTT1 null genotype and GSTM1 null genotype compared with those carrying NQO1 C609T C/T genotype and C/C genotype and GSTT1 non-null genotype and GSTM1 non-null genotype.
CONCLUSIONSThe interaction of multi-genes may be an important role to BP. The genetic polymorphisms of 3 genes (NQO1, GSTT1 and GSTM1) led to declining of detoxifying ability in benzene metabolism, so the individual with NQO1 C609T T/T genotype, GSTT1 null genotype and GSTM1 null genotype is most susceptive to benzene. The results were consistent with that of the theoretic presumption. It could be suggested as a biomarker to assess the risk of benzene poisoning for individuals.

In order to provide a new method for the identification of Placenta hominis, the COI barcode has been employed to identify the P. hominis medicinal materials and its adulterants. Genomic DNA was extracted from the experimental samples. The COI sequences were amplified and sequenced bi-directionally. Sequence assembly and consensus sequence generation were performed using the CodonCode Aligner. NJ tree was constructed by MEGA6.0 software. COI sequences can be successfully obtained from all experimental samples. The intra-specific variation and inter-specific divergence were calculated. The average intra-specific K2P distance of P. hominis was 0.001 and the maximum intra-specific distance was 0.008. The cluster dendrogram constructed can be seen that the same genus is together, and distinguished from its adulterants. It is concluded that P. hominis and its adulterants can be correctly identified by DNA barcoding method.
