Through searching domestic and foreign medical journals in CNKI, Wanfang database, VIP database and Pubmed database from January of 2003 to November of 2013, 39 articles regarding musical electroacupuncture (MEA) were analyzed. The result showed that MEA was clinically used to treat neurological and psychotic disorders; because it was combined with musical therapy and overcame the acupuncture tolerability, and MEA was superior to traditional electroacupuncture. However, problems such as low research efficiency and the mechanism of MEA superiority and the musical specificity not being revealed by research design still exist. In future, large-sample multi-center RCT researches should be performed to clarify MEA clinical efficacy. With modern science and technology and optimized study design, guided by five-element theory of TCM, researches on different musical elements and characteristics of musical pulse current as well as MEA's correlation with meridians and organs should be studied, so as to make a further exploration on MEA mechanisms and broaden the range of its clinical application.

Objective To assess the efficacy and safety of topical tacrolimus for erosive oral lichen planus (EOLP). Methods Literatures published up to December 2013 were searched from PubMed, Embase, CENTRAL, Chinese BioMedical Literature Database (CBM), and System for Information on Grey Literature in Europe (SIGLE). All randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of topical tacrolimus for EOLP which compared with other interventions or a placebo were considered in this Meta-analysis. Two researchers collected data independently. The assessment of methodological quality was based on Cochrane Handbook and the materials were analyzed with the software Revman 5.2.5. The primary outcome measures were the symptoms (e.g. pain, discomfort) complained by patients. The secondary outcome measures included the improvement rate of clinical signs assessed by the investigators and the incidence of adverse effects (e.g. clinical candidiasis). Results A total of 9 RCTs involving 476 patients were finally included. The pooled odds ratio (OR) of clinical improvement for topical tacrolimusvs. topical corticosteroids was 1.19 [95% confidence interval (CI): 0.64-2.22,I2: 44%]. Regarding to 0.1% tacrolimus and 0.03% tacrolimus, the pooledOR were 1.87 (95 %CI: 0.60-5.82) and 1.47 (95 %CI: 0.14-16.04) respectively in subgroup analysis. No serious adverse events were reported in topical tacrolimus group. Conclusions There was no evidence to support that topical tacrolimus for EOLP was more effective and safer than topical corticosteroids in this Meta-analysis. Clinical assessment criteria should be established and accepted by clinicians and researchers before further RCTs are undertaken.
4.A Case of Keratitis, Ichthyosis and Deafness(KID) Syndrome.
Journal of the Korean Pediatric Society 2003;46(11):1135-1138
KID syndrome was named after the initials of the major three symptoms of the disease; keratitis, ichthyosis, and deafness. The syndrome was first introduced by Dr. Burns in 1915 who described one of his patients with those symptoms. In 1981, Dr. Skinner and his colleagues reported 17 patients who had keratitis, ichthyosis, and deafness. They also called the disease KID syndrome for the first time. After that, there have been only 60 cases of KID syndrome reported. KID syndrome may be presented with neurosensory deafness, vascularizing keratitis and such skin disorders as ichthyosis, ichthyosiform skin eruptions, and alopecia. Also, those with KID syndrome may suffer from repetitive infections, dental affections, hypohidrosis, growth delay and hepatic and renal abnormalities. The authors report the first case of KID syndrome in Korea with some references. The patient presented with keratitis, neurosensory deafness, and such characteristic skin disorders as ichthyosis and hyperkeratosis.

China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica 2003;28(12):1184-1187
OBJECTIVETo elucidate the molecular mechanism of Wendan Tang in prevention of lipid metabolism disorder in adult rats.
METHODOn the basis of hyperlipidemia rat models, triglycerides (TG), total cholesterol (TC) in serum, activities of lipase (LA), lipoprotein lipase (LPL), hepatic lipase (HL) in liver, parts of hemogram and hepatic LDLR mRNA levels were investigated 21 days after the feeding of atherogenic diet.
RESULTWendan Tang significantly reduced the serum TG, TC and increased the activity of LPL and LA, but caused no chang in HL. The result of RT-PCR test showed that high fat and high cholesterol feeding could significantly induce the reduction of LDLR mRNA levels, while Wendan Tang could increase hepatic LDLR density.
CONCLUSIONWendan Tang can prevent disorder of lipid metabolism by regulating TC, TG, LDL-c through upregaulation of LDLR transcription level and improving antioxidant ability.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the efficacy of Kirschner wires and tension-band fixation through posterolateral minimal incision for the treatment of displaced supracondylar humeral fractures in children.
METHODSFrom January 2005 to December 2010, there were 62 children (38 males and 24 females, ranging in age from 2 to 14 years, averaged 6.8 years) with Gartland type III supracondylar humeral fractures. All the injuries were caused by falling, and all the fractures were fresh injuries. The duration from injury to surgery ranged from 5 to 20 hours. All the children were treated with open reduction through a posterolateral minimal approach, Kirschnere wires and tension-band fixation were fixed with plaster at 90 degrees of elbow flexion, forearm supination, and palms facing upwards. The kirschner pins and wires were removed after fractures healing. The Flynn's criterion was used to evaluate therapeutic effects.
RESULTSThe operation time ranged from 30 to 50 min (averaged 45 min). All the patients achieved solid union. Sixty patients were followed up, and the mean follow-up time was 15 months (ranged from 6 to 24 months). At the 6th month after operation, 48 patients got an excellent result, 9 good, 3 bad (light cubitus varus with varus angle about 6 degree, without infection on function) according to Flynn's criteria. There were no complications such as procedure-related pin tract infection, iatrogenic nerve and vascular injuries and myositis ossificans.
CONCLUSIONThe Kirschner wires and tension-band fixation through posterolateral minimal incision approach can obtain clearer surgical field, simple in operation, and few wound complications. Therefore, this modified treatment is an effective and reliable method for pediatric displaced Gartland type III supracondylar humeral fractures.

Objective To obtain the ratcheting strain of articular cartilage under different loading conditions, and construct the theoretical model so as to predict the ratcheting strain of cartilage. Methods The fresh articular cartilage obtained from the trochlear of distal femur was used as experimental subject. The ratcheting strain of articular cartilage was tested under cyclic compressive loads by applying the non-contact digital image correlation technique. The theoretical model was constructed to predict the ratcheting strain of articular cartilage with different stress amplitudes and stress rates. The results from predictions were compared with the experimental results. Results The ratcheting strain of cartilage increased rapidly at initial stage and then showed the slower increase with cycles increasing. The ratcheting strain increased with stress amplitude increasing when the stress rate was constant. However, the ratcheting strain decreased with stress rate increasing when the stress amplitude was constant. When the stress rate increased, the ratcheting stain decreased. The prediction results of the established theoretical model were in good agreement with experimental results. Conclusions The ratcheting strain of articular cartilage is proportional to the stress amplitude, and inversely proportional to the stress rate. The established theoretical model can predict the ratcheting strain of articular cartilage and provide guidance for the construction of tissue engineered artificial cartilage.

BACKGROUND: Cancellous bone, as an important part of bone, is a kind of porous, inhomogeneous, anisotropic and viscoelastic structure, which plays a critical role in load transmission and energy absorption. Therefore, research on its mechanical properties is of great significance.OBJECTIVE: To investigate the compressive properties of cancellous bone at different stress rates and its creep behaviors at different stress levels.METHODS: The fresh cancellous bone from pig femur was used as the material, and subjected to different stress until the compressive strain of sample was up to 5%. The constant compressive stress levels were loaded on the surface of cancellous bone for 7200 s to observe its creep behaviors.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: (1) In the uniaxial compression test, the stress values and Young's modulus increased with the stress rate increasing under the same strain value. (2) The stress-strain curves of cancellous bone were different at different loading rates, indicating that the mechanical properties of cancellous bone depend on the loading rate. (3) In the creep test, the creep strain increased with the increase of stress level, but the creep compliance decreased with the increase of stress level. (4) These results suggest that the stress rate and stress level have significant influence on compressive properties of cancellous bone, which provide reference for avoiding cancellous bone injury.

OBJECTIVETo detect the relationship between chromosomal anomalies and the pathogenesis, development and prognosis of ovarian carcinoma.
METHODSThirty-six specimens of ovarian carcinoma (n=12), ovarian benign tumor (n=12), and normal ovary (n=12) were examined by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH).
RESULTSTwelve cases of mutations, including trisomy 8, monosomy 8 or tetraploid 8 chromosomal anomalies, were found in the group of ovarian carcinoma, making up 100% (12/12). Three cases of trisomy 8 chromosomal anomalies were found in the group of ovarian benign tumor, accounting for 25% (3/12). No anomaly was found in the normal group. There were significant differences between the three groups, P<0.001.
CONCLUSIONThe above anomalies of chromosome 8 are significantly associated with the pathogenesis and development of ovarian carcinoma. The anomalies may occur in the early stage of the carcinoma, and may be significantly associated with the pathological differentiation and clinical stage of the case.
