Fermentation condition optimization of P. decumbens Ju-A10 for production of CMCase using three kinds of plant cellulosic wastes as carbon sources was made using RSA method. The result was that CMCase was the highest when the level of carbon source was 9. 77 % , 8. 69 % and 9. 97% , and liquid volume was 64. 7 mL, 54. 2 mL, 40. 8 mL for carbon sources of millet straw, wheat straw and paper sludge, respectively. The value of CMCase was 29. 26IU/mL, 29. 14 IU/mL, 29. 81 IU/mL, respectively, in the above cases. The value of R2 is 0. 9117 , 0. 9246, 0. 8655 , respectively. It could be concluded that the fermentation models were quite reliable. The method can be applied in optimization of fungi fermentation medium.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 2007;48(2):315-320
PURPOSE: To evaluate the clinical characteristics of refractive accommodative esotropia followed up for 5 years. METHODS: Forty-three subjects with refractive accommodative esotropia, who had been followed up for at least 5 years were included in this study. Age and sex distribution, age at onset and the interval between onset of esotropia and initial visit were evaluated. Changes of the angle of deviation and the amount of hyperopia during follow-up period were analyzed. RESULTS: The initial amount of hyperopia of 4.42+/-3.27D was decreased to 3.84+/-3.46D by the last exam. The average rate of hyperopia decrease per year was 0.12 diopters. The average angles of deviation at the initial and final exam were 31.74+/-13.72PD and 30.11+/-14.27PD, respectively. Among the 43 subjects who participated in this study, decompensation occurred in 2 patients in the third year and 1 patient in the fourth year. CONCLUSIONS: There is a tendency for the amount of hyperopia to decrease over time. Further, deviation may deteriorate over time as well. Thus, long term follow-up management is necessary to control deviation in patients with refractive accommodative esotropia.

10.Comparison of the Thickness and Volume of the Macula and Fovea in Patients with Anisometropic Amblyopia Prior to and after Occlusion Therapy
Korean Journal of Ophthalmology 2018;32(1):52-58
PURPOSE: To compare the thickness of superior, temporal, inferior, and nasal macula and foveal thickness and volume in patients with anisometropic amblyopia prior to and after successful occlusion therapy using optical coherence tomography (OCT) measurement. METHODS: Data were collected prospectively on 30 patients with unilateral anisometropic amblyopia from December 2006 to August 2007. All patients had anisometropia of 2.0 diopters or more. OCT scans were obtained for all patients at diagnosis. Occlusion therapy was then prescribed and OCT scans were obtained again at the time of successful occlusion therapy (defined as interocular difference of <0.1 log units). The Stratus OCT-3 was used to measure fovea thickness and volume and the thickness of superior, temporal, inferior, and nasal macula (within a diameter of 3 mm). RESULTS: Of 30 patients, 22 (mean age of 5.8 years) had successful resolution of amblyopia. The mean duration of occlusion was 11.24 months and mean best-corrected visual acuity at diagnosis was 0.35 ± 0.12 logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution. The mean thicknesses of the superior, temporal, inferior, and nasal macula prior to and after occlusion were not significantly different (p > 0.05). However, mean foveal volume prior to occlusion therapy (0.15 ± 0.02 mm3) decreased after occlusion (0.14 ± 0.01 mm3) with statistical significance (Wilcoxon signed rank test, p = 0.025). CONCLUSIONS: There was a meaningful decrease in foveal volume in patients with anisometropic amblyopia after successful occlusion therapy. Whether this decrease relates to visual improvement of the amblyopic eye remains to be determined.
