ObjectiveTo compare costs of combined intravenous and inhalation anesthesia (CIIA) and total intravenous anesthesia (TIA) when lower limbs orthopedics (LLO) performed on cerebral palsy children (CPC).MethodsTo analyze data of 49 CPC who received LLO under CIIA and TIA,and compare costs of two anesthetic styles.ResultsTIA had a significantly lower cost than CIIA (P<0.001),and showed a lower incidence of post-operation nausea and vomiting.ConclusionTIA can decrease cost of anesthesia and post-operation nursing compared with CIIA.

Objective:To investigate the expression of wild type estrogen receptor(wER)and the ex-on-5 deleted ER(variant ER,vER)in human hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)samples, and thereafteranalyze the possibility of HCC treatment by endocrine therapy. Methods:The mRNA expressions of wERand vER were analysed from 28 cases of HCC by RT-PCR.The expression of ER at the protein level wasdetected by immunohistochemistry(IHC).Results:IHC results showed that 39.3% of the HCC speci-mens expressed ER.The mRNA of wER was detected in 89.3%(25/28)of the HCC specimens whilethat of vER was detected in 96.4%(27/28).Twenty four out of 28 HCC cases(85.7%)expressedboth wER and vER.One out of 28 patients(3.5%)expressed only wER whereas 3 patients out of 28(10.7%)expressed vER only. Conclusion:Ninety six percent(27/28)of the HCC patients expressedvER,which suggests that the expression of vER is an important event in the development of HCC.

Taxus canadensis distributed mainly in North America, such as northern Minnesota, Newfoundland, south to Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. Its composition has been shown to be very different from other species, and in recent years, some new skeletons also have been found in Canada yew. Through analysis of the taxanes content on various Taxus plants containing taxanes, the results showed a higher content of taxol in T. canadensis. Based on the current research on T. canadensis (from the research results of the author in recent years, as well as from studies of scholars in the field), the paper outlined the research progress in recent years on the chemical constituents of taxane of T. canadensis and the spectral characteristics of various types of compounds. Besides, this paper analyzed the present research about solutions for the taxol drug source crisis.

The contents of coumarins in the sulfur fumigated Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Baizhi, ADR) were reduced significantly. To achieve the quality control of ADR, the qualitative identification of sulfur fumigated ADR and quantitative model of imperatorin content should be established. The near-infrared (NIR) spectrograms of non-sulfur and sulfur fumigated ADR were collected by NIR diffuse reflectance spectroscopy technology and pretreated by the method of first derivative derivation and vector normalization. The Ward's Algorithm method was used for the cluster analysis. The non-sulfur and sulfur fumigated ADR can be quickly identified in the range of 8,806. 0-3 811.0 cm(-1) based on the cluster analysis. The NIR quantitative model of imperatorin was established by the contents of imperatorin determined by HPLC in combination with partial least squares regression analysis. According to the calibration model established in this study, correlation coefficients (R2), the root-mean-square error of cross-validation (RMSECV), and the root-mean-square error of prediction (RMSEP) for imperatorin were 0.982 8, 0.006 8, 0.011 8, respectively. The quantitative model of imperatorin can be applied to determine the content of imperatorin in ADR accurately.

Objective To explore the related factors of diabetes insipidus and disorders of sodium and water after surgery of sellar region tumor, and to find nursing strategy and improve the prognosis of sellar region tumors. Methods In this study,we retrospectively reviewed 150 cases of sellar region tumor from January 2005 to January 2011 in our department, including 67 cases of pituitary adenoma,53 cases of meningioma,30 cases of craniopharyngiona.Approaches were depended on the size and growing pattern of the tumors.Related factors of postoperative diabetes insipidus and disorders of sodium and water were analyzed. Results Large tumor size, the pathology of tumor, preoperative endocrine dysfunction, preoperative visual field and vision disorders and surgery approach were related to such complications. Conclusions Finding the related factors of these complications in patients and adopting care measures play an important role in improving the prognosis of sellar region tumors.

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to determine the potential protective effect of inducing hypertransfusion to the gastrointestinal tract following a porcine model of cardiac arrest and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by evaluating the influence of gastrointestinal ultrastructure, ATPase and serum diamine oxidase. METHODS: Ventricular fibrillation was induced by programmed electrical stimulation in 16 male domestic pigs (n=8/group). Four minutes after ventricular fibril ation, CPR was performed. The pigs that successfully restored spontaneous circulation received intravenous infusion of either norepinephrine to maintain the mean arterial pressure at 130% of the baseline before ventricular fibril ation or normal saline. Serum diamine oxidase and gastrointestinal ATPase activity were determined, and histopathological examination of the gastrointestinal tract was performed by light and electron microscopy. RESULTS: CPR caused significant injury to the gastrointestinal tract, elevating serum diamine oxidase and causing destruction of intestinal microvillus in control animals. Na+-K+ ATPase and Ca2+ATPase activity in gastric tissue were significantly elevated in animals receiving hypertransfusion treatment compared with the control animals. Hypertransfusion also significantly reduced serum diamine oxidase to below control levels after CPR. Moreover, severe injury sustained by the gastrointestinal tissue was markedly ameliorated under hypertransfusion conditions compared with the control animals. CONCLUSIONS: Gastrointestinal injury and abnormal energy metabolism were strikingly evident following CPR. Hypertransfusion inducing hypertension can improve energy metabolism and ameliorate gastrointestinal mucosal injury, indicating that hypothermia significantly ameliorates gastrointestinal injury sustained following cardiac arrest.
