1.Effect of acclimation training on physiological changes in a randomized controlled trial in hot-humid environment.
Chinese Journal of Applied Physiology 2014;30(6):544-548
OBJECTIVEThis study was aimed to explore the physiological changes and the effect of heat acclimation training via a randomized control trial study.
METHODSForty healthy male volunteers were chosen and divided into experimental group and control group randomly. Those in experimental group received heat acclimation training including but not limited to meditation, unarmed run, yoga, and stepping in hot lab environment. And then, subjective feeling, rectal temperature, average skin temperature, and sweat electrolytes concentration were detected in order to describe their physiological changes. Before and after the training, both groups received some tests and their 3 000 m run-race time, nervous reaction time and subjective perception scores were recorded to evaluate the effect of acclimation training.
RESULTS(1) There was no difference in 3 000 m between the 2 groups in the same environment. Subjects' 3 000 m race time in experimental group was obviously shortened than that in control group in room temperature environment (t = 2.326, P < 0.05). And subjects' 3 000 m race time in experimental group was obviously shortened than that in control group in hot-humid environment (t = 4.518, P < 0.01). (2) Subjects' reaction time (RT) in experimental group was shortened than that in control group in room temperature environment (Z = 11.258, P < 0.05). And Subjects' RT in experimental group was sharply shortened than that in control group in hot-humid environment (Z = 6.519, P < 0.01). (3) No difference between the experimental and control groups was observed in subjective perception score (SPS) in room temperature environment. But subjects' SPS in experimental group was obviously lowered than that in control group and in hot-humid environment (t = 17.958, P < 0.01).(4) Anal temperature (AT) was lowered during training, while the change of mean skin temperature (MST) was not significant. Sweat sodium concentration (SSC) was lowered during training. SPS continued to decrease and entered plateau on the 13th day after training.(5) After acclimation training, the working capacity of the experimental group in hot-humid environment was over 85% of that in room temperature environment. While subjects' working capacity in control group in hot-humid environment was about 80% of that in room temperature environment.
CONCLUSIONHot-humid environment acclimation training improved the working capacity. After training, subjects' working capacity in hot-humid environment remained over 85% of that in room temperature environment, which was higher than that of those subjects who did not take part in training.

3.Application and new progress of probiotics in enteral nutrition
Hong ZHU ; Chun LEI ; Guozhong LI
Parenteral & Enteral Nutrition 2010;17(2):118-121
It is critical to preventing gut-originaltel infection to attenuate bacterial and/or endotoxin translocation, maintain bacterial balance, improve gut mucosal barrier function and elevate local immunity. Probiotics beneficially affect the host by improving its intestinal microbial balance, by preventing gut mucosal barrier breakdown and bacterial translocation, by modulating immunity, and by promoting gut movements and absorption. The role and new progress of probiotics in enteral nutrition are reviewed .

Objective To investigate the expression and role of Caspase-3 during the development of non-traumatic avascular/aseptic necrosis of femoral head(ANFH).Methods Tissue samples were obtained from 22 femoral heads of 21 patients with ANFH.The samples were divided into three groups:early stage(6 cases),middle stage(8 cases) and late stage(8 cases) groups according to the progress of the disease.Meanwhile,19 tissue samples of 19 femoral heads were obtained from 19 cases of acute femoral neck fracture and set as a control group. The level of apoptosis of each group was compared in terms of the percentages of TUNEL positive osteocytes and empty osteocyte lacuna, and then the activity of Caspase-3 was detected by colorimetric method. Results Both the pecentages of empty osteocyte lacunae(F=45.43,P=0.000) and the TUNEL positive osteocytes(F=120.86,P=0.000) increased significantly with the progress of ANFH.The two indexes in the early and middle stage groups were significantly higher than those in the control(q=18.899,P0.05).Caspase-3 activity was not significantly related to the capacity of osteogenesis(r=0.126,P=0.425).Conclusions Caspase-3 is not the major executor of apoptosis in ANFH.It is very likely that it does not play a nonapoptotic role in the progress of the diseases.

Journal of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine 1999;0(02):-
Naoxing oral preparation has ho formed to be effective for ischemic stroke by preliminary clin-ical trial. To find a safe, efficient and convenient preparation Naoxing nasal spray was developed. Theeffect of Naoxing nasal spray on increasing hypoxic toleance of brain cells and improving blood circulationwas confirmed in this experiment. Twenty-eight guinea Pigs were randomly allocated to 4 groups: Group A(Naoxing nasal spray),Group B (ninodipine injection intraperitoneally), GrouP C (ligushazine injectionintrqperitoneally) and Group D(distilled water for nasal spray). After the medication for 4 days, acutecerebral ischemia was produced by the occlusion of bilatelal caretid arteries for 45 minutes. Serum NO lev-el,superoxide dismutase(SOD), glutathione superoxidase (GSH--Px) and lipid peroxide (LPO) levelsin cerebral tissue were detected. Ultrastructure of right hippocampus was oberved. The results showedthat NO, SOD, GSH-Px level in Group A is significantly higher and LPO level is significantly lower thanthere in Group D(P0.05).The damage of neuron, gliocyte and capillary under electron microscope was less thanGroup D,the differences being not significant as compared with Group B and C. It is concluded that theeffect of Naoxing nasal splay is as ed as ninodipine and ligustazine injection.

9. Fingerprint and multi-components quantitative determination for Jizhi Syrup by HPLC
Chinese Traditional and Herbal Drugs 2016;47(23):4192-4197
Objective: To establish an HPLC fingerprint method of Jizhi Syrup and determine the contents of its main components. Methods: The Waters XTerra RP-18 (250 mm × 4.6 mm, 5 μm) column was used with a mobile phase of 0.8% acetic acid (containning 0.2% triethylamine) and acetonitrile gradient elution, the flow rate was 1.0 mL/min, the column temperature was 35℃, and the detection wavelength was 280 nm. The Similarity Evaluation System for Chromatographic Fingerprint of TCM (2012 edition) was used to establish the fingerprint spectra and analyze the similarity degree. The common peaks were identified by reference compounds and negative controls, and the content was detected. Results: The fingerprint chromatography included 17 mutual peaks. Peak 2 and peak 8 were from Houttuyniae Herba, peak 4 and peak 10 were from Fagopyri Dibotryis Rhizoma, peaks 7, 12, and 15 were from Ilicis Chinensis Folium, peaks 1 and 13 were from Ephedrae Herba, peaks 16 and 17 were from Aurantii Fructus, and peaks 3 and 6 were from Houttuyniae Herba, Fagopyri Dibotryis Rhizoma, and Ilicis Chinensis Folium. The similarity among the batches was more than 0.98. Based on the retention time of master compounds, six components [protocatechuic acid (peak 3), protocatechualdehyde (peak 6), ferulic acid (peak 7), chlorogenic acid (peak 10), ephedrine hydrochloride (peak 13), and naringin (peak 16)] were identified and quantified. The contents of protocatechuic acid, protocatechualdehyde, ferulic acid, chlorogenic acid, ephedrine hydrochloride, and naringin in 10 batches of Jizhi Syrup were 3.122 1-3.270 0, 5.108 6-5.224 9, 8.893 2-9.120 8, 6.792 1-6.931 0, 2.154 4-2.236 2, and 4.125 8-4.183 3 mg/mL, respectively. Conclusion: The established method has high sensitivity, fast, precise and specificity, and can be used for the quality control of Jizhi Syrup.
