OBJECTIVE: About 70% patients with stroke have dysfunction at various degrees in clinic, especially aphasia would affect their social communication and even offer a serious economic load for family and social. This paper aims to summarize the relevant articles on aphasia recovery so as to provide researching evidences in the future. DATA SOURCES: Relevant articles were retrieved from the Medline with the key words of "aphasia, recovery, language, recovery" in English from January 1980 to January 2004. STUDY SELECTION: All articles were selected firstly, those which were related to aphasia recovery were selected, and the non-randomly clinical papers were excluded. The full text of rest was looked up to determine whether they were randomized controlled studies or not. Randomized controlled researches were regarded as inclusion criteria regardless of blind way. DATA EXTRACTION: Among 22 articles on aphasia recovery, 12 were selected according to inclusion criteria and 10 were excluded because of duplicated papers.DATA SYNTHESIS: Recovery of language function was related to sex, age, ducational degrees, characteristics of lesion, range of lesion, duration from episode to language recovery, insight and self redress of language disorder. Therefore, there were various findings and views for previous re searches on mechanism of aphasia recovery. CONCLUSION: There is not uniform conclusion on mechanism of aphasia recovery. Compliance of language function in brain may be a mechanism of aphasia recovery.

Journal of International Oncology 2014;41(6):415-418
Hypoxia inducible factor (HIF-1α) is a hypoxia response regulator, which is highly expressed in malignant tumors.Researches have shown that HIF-1α plays an important role in epithelial mesenchymal transformation. It can regulate epithelial mesenchymal transition through a series of signal pathways and mechanisms at many levels,to participate in the invasion and metastasis of tumors. To explore the mechanism of HIF-lα controlling epithelial mesenchymal transformation has important significance for the development of new, effective tumor treatment methods.

Objective: Clone, express and purify human recombinant calreticulin (CRT). Methods: Human CRT cDNA was amplified from total RNA of human lung cancer cell line A549 cells by RT-PCR. Then, PCR product was subcloned into prokaryotic expression vector pET-15b. After sequencing, this recombinant plasmid was transformed into E.coli. Rossetta. Recombinant CRT was expressed in host cells by IPTG induction. Resulted protein was purified by Ni-NTA resin under denature condition and dialyzed to recover its native structure. SDS-PAGE and Western blot method were used to identify the expression and purification of reconbinant CRT. Results: Human CRT cDNA was cloned from total RNA of A549 cells. CRT prokaryotic expression vector pET-15b-crt was constructed. Reconbinant CRT was induced to express in E.coli and purified by Ni-NTA affinity chromatograph. Conclusion: A method for prokaryotic expression and purification of human recombinant CRT was successfully established. This method laid a foundation for the subsequent CRT research.

Objective: To explore the effect and mechanism of DMDAI-L in inducing the HL-60 cells apoptosis. Methods:Caspase-3 activity in HL-60 cells was measured with the enzymatic visible substrate DEVD-pNA. The fluorescence changes of mito-chondrial membrane potential (△Ψm) in HL-60 cells were investigated with the fluorescent probe JC-1. Results:The caspase-3 activ-ity was significantly increased in HL-60 cells after the DMDAI-L treatment at the concentration of 1. 25, 2. 5, 5, 10 and 20μg·ml-1 for 24h(P<0. 05). DMDAI-L could significantly reduce the mitochondrial membrane potential in HL-60 cells. Conclusion: The mechanism of DMDAI-L in inducing HL-60 cells apoptosis may involve the activation or regulation of caspase-3 activity as well as the reduction of mitochondrial membrane potential in HL-60 cells within certain concentration and time range.

ObjectiveTo measure the setup errors with infrared marker-based positioning system (IM-BPS) and electronic portal imaging device (EPID) for patients with esophageal carcinoma and lung cancer and investigate the accuracy and practicality of IM-BPS. MethodsFrom January 2007 to January 2008, 40 patients with esophageal carcinoma and 27 patients with lung cancer received three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy or intensity-modulated radiotherapy, setup errors during the treatment were measured with IM-BPS and EPID, and the data of setup errors were compared with paired t-test and agreement with x2-test. ResultsIt takes 10 - 12 mins to complete the validating for each patient by EPID) system, while IMBPS system only needs 2 -5 mins. The mean setup errors along x, y and z-axis for patients with esophageal carcinoma measured by IM-BPS and EPID were 3.49 mm, 3. 19 mm, 3.31 mm and 4. 03 mm, 3.41 mm, 3.43 mm, respectively. For the patients with lung cancer, the setup errors were 4. 23 mm, 3.51 mm, 3. 39mm and 4. 85 mm, 3. 53 mm, 3.74 mm, respectively. The difference of setup errors meanured by the two systems was within 1 mm for 65% esophageal carcinoma patients ( x2 =51.09, P =0. 000), and 55% lung cancer patients ( x2 =53. 35, P =0. 000).Conclusions The measurement results of setup errors for patients with esophageal carcinoma and lung cancer show that IM-BPS is mostly better than EPID. Though validating for patients can be measured accurately and be well quality controlled, IM-BPS is used easily because of macroscopic, homely, spare time and real-time monitoring.

Bulletin of The Academy of Military Medical Sciences 2009;33(6):580-582,595
miRNAs were discovered less than a decade ago, and have emerged as important regulators of gene expression in mammals. A large number of miRNAs have been identified to be located within the intronic regions of protein-encoding genes(host genes) and called intronic miRNAs. The intronic miRNAs may play a key role in regulating the expression and function of their host genes due to the fact that most of them are co-expressed with the host genes. In this paper, the recent advances on the research on potential relationship between intronic miRNAs and their host genes are reviewed.

Objective To understand the relationship between clinical manifestations and Kashin-Beck disease(KBD) and their contribution to diagnosis of KBD and to construct the diagnosis model for KBD in adolescents. Methods A total of 2248 subjects under the age of 18 were collected from 6 KBD endemic and 1 non-KBD areas of the Shaanxi province in China.Analysis of 32 indicators, including gender, age, and KBD clinical indicators.Indicators of the distribution of measurement data between the two groups using t test and analysis of variance,x2 test with count data,multi-category ordered response variables Logistic regression analysis for model building. Results It showed the KBD prevalence rate in adolescent had an increasing tendency with age.Analysis of indicators between the two groups,in addition to the age factor(P < 0.05),the difference of ankle pain, knee pain, wrist movement disorder and other 5 indicators(P < 0.05) and the last bend, elbow movement disorder, syndactyly and other 9 indicators(P < 0.01 ) were statistically significant.Sixteen clinical and radiographic features in the clinical manifestations were significantly related with the clinical severity grading with KBD(P < 0.01 ).Four models on the diagnostic indictors were constructed by cumulative logit model for adolescent KBD (-21ogL,Score,Wald x2 test,P < 0.01 ).Conclusions The establishment of the diagnostic model based on their contribution of the joint involvement in systemic performance-related indicators has an important role for clinical diagnosis of KBD.
