Objective To design and construct a new bionic scaffold of nucleus pulposus tissue engineering. Methods The collagen-hyaluronic acid (HyA) matrices were prepared, and mixed with Collagen type Ⅱ (pH 1-2) and lyophilized. 6-chondroitin sulfate (CS) was covalently attached to collagen using 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethyl aminopropyl) carbodiimide (EDC) and N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS). Afterwards the initial structure of bionic scaffolds was evaluated. Results The bionic scaffolds were porous structure, of which the pore size was 89-132 ?m, the porosity was 94.8%. Water-binding capacity of resulting matrices was 79.2%, and the denaturation temperature was 74.6 ℃. Glycosaminoglycan (GAG) content was 224 mg/g, and the elastic modulus was 0.673 MPa. Conclusion Composition and tissue structure between the scaffolds are similar to the extracellular matrices of nucleus pulposus. The bionic scaffold is an ideal scaffold material of nucleus pulposus tissue engineering in structure. Further experiment is required on the biocompatibility of the novel scaffolds.

Objective\ To observe the practicality of sonography for differentiating the compression factors and judging whether thorough decompression anterior to the dura sac has been obtained. Methods Posterior midline incision was used in a total of 16 cases. After the laminae were resected, normal saline was poured into the operation field, and ultrasound examination performed with a 5.0 MHz sectorscanner. Combined with preoperative imaging (CT or MRI),the compression factors were differentiated. The isolated tissue(bone or disc)pieces in spinal canal were removed first, then reduction of approximate and distal parts of the injuried spinal column was obtained with the help of the Dick devices. Posteriorly protruded bone mass was tumbled in carefully supervised with sonography. The sonographic criterion for thorough decompression consisted of the reappearance of the anterior subarachnoid and an even and smooth echo of posterior dura mater. Results\ The sonographic criterion for thorough decompression was achieved in all cases. No bone mass posterior displacement was observed on postoperative rontgenogram or CT examination. Partial or complete recovery of neural function was obtained in 13 cases. Conclusion\ All elements contributing to anterior dura sac compression can be readily recognized by sonography, which offers a reliable criterion for complete decompression.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of stent-assisted coiling in the treatment of unruptured vertebral dissecting aneurysm. Methods We retrospectively reviewed 59 consecutive patients with unruptured vertebral dissecting aneurysms that underwent endovascular treatment. 31 patients received single stent-assisted coiling, 28 patients received multiple stent-assisted coiling. Results Clinical outcome was favorable in 56 of the 59 patients, the modified Rankin Scale score had no difference in both groups (P = 0.24). The immediate obliteration grade in multiple-stent group was higher than that in single-stent group (75.0% vs. 41.9%, P=0.010). What′s more, the recurrence rate was lower in multiple-stent group (0% vs. 19.4%, P = 0.043). Conclusions Stent-assisted coiling in the treatment of unruptured vertebral dissecting aneurysm is safe and effective , multilayer disposition of stents with coils will decrease the complications and facilitate the aneurysmal occlusion. Larger , prospective studies are necessary to explore the long-term outcomes of reconstruction therapy.

Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of endovascular embolization for the treatment of cerebellar arteriouvenous malformations (AVMs) associated with aneurysm, and to discuss its technical points. Methods The clinical data of 142 patients with cerebellar AVMs were retrospectively analyzed. Of the 142 patients, 42 had concomitant aneurysms. The patients were divided into concomitant aneurysm group and without aneurysm group. Using univariate and multivariate statistical models, the patient’s gender and age, the presence or absence of hemorrhage, the lesion’s location and size, and the presence or absence of deep venous drainage were analyzed. Results A total of 61 concomitant aneurysms were detected in the 42 patients, which were located within the malformation mass (n=14) or on the feeding artery (n=47). The concomitant aneurysms located in the malformation were closely related to AVM hemorrhage and the deep venous drainage. During the follow-up period after endovascular embolization, no recurrence of bleeding was observed in all the 42 patients. Conclusion In order to reduce the relapse rate of hemorrhage, the formulation of therapeutic measures should be based on the management of the concomitant aneurysm when endovascular embolization treatment is employed for AVM associated with aneurysm.
