Objective To study the relation between aquaporin 4 (AQP4) expression in the perihematomal tissue and changes of MRI indicators after intracerebral hemorrhage of rats, and explore the relationship between AQP4 expression and formation of hemorrhagic brain edema. Methods Forty-five male SD rats were randomized into sham-operated group (n=15) and hemorrhage group (n=30). The rats of these groups were equally subdivided into the 1', 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 7th d measurement groups, respectively. The models of intracerebral hemorrhage were established by infusing collagenase into globus pallidus of the rats. MRI was performed 1, 2, 3, 5 and 7 d after the success of model making;edema volume around the hematoma and signal intensity ratio of T1WI, T2WI, and FLAIR sequences in the edema zone were measured and calculated. The rats were sacrificed at the corresponding time point after imaging. Immunohistochemistry staining was performed to observe the expression of AQP4 at each time point. Results The AQP4 expression level of perihematomal tissue in the hemorrhage group was obviously higher than that in the sham-operated group (P<0.05). Liner positive correlation between the AQP4 expression level and the volume of cerebral edema around the hematoma was noted (r=0.687,P<0.05). Liner positive correlations between the AQP4 expression level and both signal intensity ratio of T2WI and FLAIR sequences in the cerebral edema region were also found (r=0.640, 0.662; P<0.05).Conclusion AQP4 has a close relation with the formation and expansion of hemorrhagic cerebral edema; over-expression of AQP4 may promote the formation of edema after intracerebral hemorrhage.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the effectiveness, safety and feasibility of endovascular angioplasty in treating long iliac artery chronic total occlusions (CTO).
METHODSThe clinical data from a consecutive series of patients with long (> 5 cm) iliac artery CTO who treated by endovascular angioplasty from January 2006 to December 2010 was retrospectively analyzed. There were 139 patients (157 limbs) with long iliac artery CTO treated by endovascular angioplasty in this study [male 93 and female 46, mean age (77 ± 10) years]. According to TASC II classification, there were 18 patients in type B, 89 patients in type C and 32 patients in type D. Recanalization of the occluded lesions was attempted with the left brachial and/or femoral access.
RESULTSThe ankle brachial index increased from 0.42 ± 0.19 before treatment to 0.81 ± 0.26 after treatment. The rate of technical success was 96.2% (151/157) and the patency rate of iliac artery was 94.1% (111/118) during the follow-up. Significant restenosis or reocclusion was found in 7 iliac lesions and there were no major interventional complications, such as iliac artery rupture, stent displacement, pseudoaneurysms, and arteriovenous fistula.
CONCLUSIONSEndovascular angioplasty is an effective, safe and feasible method in treating long iliac CTO with high patency rate. Combined left brachial and femoral access can increase the technical success rate significantly.

OBJECTIVES:
To study the effect of glucose metabolism disorders on the short-term prognosis in neonates with asphyxia.
METHODS:
A retrospective analysis was performed on the medical data of the neonates with asphyxia who were admitted to 52 hospitals in Hubei Province of China from January to December, 2018 and had blood glucose data within 12 hours after birth. Their blood glucose data at 1, 2, 6, and 12 hours after birth (with an allowable time error of 0.5 hour) were recorded. According to the presence or absence of brain injury and/or death during hospitalization, the neonates were divided into a poor prognosis group with 693 neonates and a good prognosis group with 779 neonates. The two groups were compared in the incidence of glucose metabolism disorders within 12 hours after birth and short-term prognosis.
RESULTS:
Compared with the good prognosis group, the poor prognosis group had a significantly higher proportion of neonates from secondary hospitals (48.5% vs 42.6%,
CONCLUSIONS
Recurrent hyperglycemia in neonates with asphyxia may suggest poor short-term prognosis, and it is necessary to strengthen the early monitoring and management of the nervous system in such neonates.

Ligament tissue engineering is currently a novel approach to the treatment of ligament injury, which can replace the deficiency of autografts. Ligament tissue engineering consists of four basic elements:seed cells, nanoscaffolds, growth factors, and mechanical stimulation. At present, the main problem in ligament tissue engineering is how to control seed cells to ligament cells more controllly. The study found that each physical property of the natural bio ligament and mechanical stimulation (uniaxial stretching) plays an important role in the differentiation of stem cells into ligament cells. Therefore, the design of nanofiber scaffolds must consider the elastic modulus of the material and the material. Structure(material arrangement, porosity and diameter, etc.), elastic modulus and material structure in different ranges will guide cells to differentiate into different lineages. Considering that the ligament is the main force-bearing tissue of the human body, mechanical stimulation is also essential for stem cell differentiation, especially uniaxial stretching, which best meets the stress of the ligament in the body. A large number of studies have found the frequency and amplitude of stretching. And time will also lead the cells to differentiate in different directions. RhoA/ROCK plays a regulatory role in cytoskeletal remodeling and cell differentiation. It is also found that RhoA/ROCK protein participates in the process of nanofiber arrangement and uniaxial stretching to guide stem cells to differentiate into ligament cells, specifically how to influence stem cell differentiation. It is not clear at present that understanding the effects of physical properties on stem cell differentiation and understanding the mechanism of action of RhoA/ROCK protein will provide a new theoretical basis for further optimization of ligament tissue engineering.
