International Eye Science 2010;10(2):215-217
AIM: To know the psychological conditions of various cataract patients in pre- and post-operative periods.METHODS: From June 2008 to June 2009, 278 cataract patients had been asked to complete a questionnaire anonymously of their self-evaluation of symptoms scale (SCL) before and after operation. In their pre-operative and post-operative surveys, the results were compared with the norms respectively. Patients were divided into two groups. Group A were age-related cataract patients; while Group B were cataract patients with glaucoma, trauma or metabolic disease.RESULTS: When cataract patients' masculine scores of somatization, depression, anxiety and fear factors before and after the operation rank higher than the norms, the differences had statistical significance(P<0.05), especially the somatization factor(P<0.01).While cataract patients with diseases such as glaucoma, trauma or diabetes got higher marks than age-related cataract patients in the aspects of anxiety, somatization, depression (P<0.05), and fear factors, the differences were of statistical significance(P<0.01).CONCLUSION: Cataract patients both in pre- and post- and operative periods have somatization behaviors and emotions of depression, anxiety and fear. Cataract patients with glaucoma, trauma or diabetes especially anxiety have more obvious symptoms than age-related cataract patients.

Objective To discuss the clinical manifestation and treatment of the complications caused by injected polyacrylamde hydro-gel( PAAG) for breast augmentation. Methods This retrospective research was performed among 212 patients who undergoing breast aug-mentation with injected polyacrylamde hydrogel. The clinical manifestation and treatment outcome of the complications were analyzed and summarized, which is aim to search an effective treatment method. Results For the 212 patients, the main complications were breast multi-ple indurations (131 cases),fever (9 cases),infection (14 cases),breast pain (65 cases),PAAG displacement (28 cases) and secondary deformity or asymmetry (25 cases). 152 cases experienced one clinical symptom, the rest patients simultaneously undergone no less than two clinical symptoms. Patients were received open operation with periareolar incision ( surgery group) or vacuum absorption by needle ( aspira-tion group) for dislodging PAAG. No significant difference was found in wound healing, breast shape satisfaction and pain anesis between the two groups. Whilethe surgery group was better than the aspiration group in efficiency for taking out PAAG and the incidence of reoperation, with statistical significance. Conclusion A plenty of complications occurred after breast augmentation with injected polyacrylamde hydrogel, the method of open operation with periareolar incision is a better way for eliminating PAAG and treating the complications.

OBJECTIVE:To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of different doses of atorvastatin in the treatment of chron-ic subdural hematoma(CSDH). METHODS:One hundred and tweaty-eighie CSDH patients selected from our hospital during Jun. 2013-May 2015 were divided into observation group(n=62)and control group(n=66)in accordance with random number table. Both groups were given conventional treatment of brain cell nutrition. Control group received Atorvastatin tablet 20 mg,po,qd;observation group received Atorvastatin tablet 40 mg,po,qd. Both groups were treated for 6 months. Clinical efficacy,CSS and ADL score, hematoma volume, the levels of serum inflammatory factors (hs-CRP,MMP-9,IL-6,TNF-α) were observed in 2 groups. ADR was recorded during treatment and recurrence rate was also recorded. RESULTS:2 patients withdrew from observa-tion group and 6 from control group. Finally,120 patients met the criteria were included, with 60 cases in each group. Total re-sponse rate of observation group(88.3%)was significantly better than that of control group(73.3%),with statistical significance (P<0.05). After 1,3,6 months of treatment,CSS score, hematoma volume, the serum levels of hs-CRP,MMP-9,IL-6 and TNF-α in 2 groups were significantly decreased, while ADL score was increased significantly;the improvement of above indexes in observation group was significantly better than in control group, with statistical significance(P<0.05). There was no statistical significance in the incidence of ADR between 2 groups(P>0.05). The recurrence rate of control group(13.3%)was significantly higher than that of observation group(3.3%),with statistical significance(P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS:Daily dose of shows ator-vastatin 40 mg better therapeutic efficacy and lower recurrence rate in the treatment of CSDH with good safety.

Objective To investigate relationship between adiponectin and cardiac damage induced by aldosterone in SD rats. Methods Male SD rats were treated with aldosterone infusion for 4 weeks, systolic blood pressure (SBP) was measured every week. At the end of experiment, the myocardial structure was observed, the levels of adiponectin in plasma and adiponectin mRNA expression of adipose tissue in epididymal fat pad were measured. 3T3-L1 adipocytes treated with 10-8 and 10-6 moL/L aldosterone for 24 and 48 h, adiponectin mRNA expressions and adiponectin concentrations in culture medium were measured. Results Aldosterone induced only a slight increase in the SBP of SD rats[(123±7)mm Hg, P<0.05]. However, aldosterone significantly induced cardiac ultrastructure changes, such as mitochondrial swelling and disordered internal structures. Furthermore, the level of plasma adiponectin decreased 22.8% after aldosterone treatment for 4 weeks ( P<0. 05 ). When 3T3-L1 adipocytes were treated with 10-8 and 10-6 mol/L aldosterone for 24 h, adiponectin concentrations in culture medium decreased 21.8% and 27. 2%, respectively (P < 0. 05); for 48 h, adiponctin mRNA expressions decreased 22.1% and 37.4%, respectively ( P<0. 05 ). The effect of aldosterone was reversed by spironolactone, which was partly independent of SBP. Conclusions Low level of adiponectin may be involved in cardiac damage induced by aldosterone in SD rats.

Objective To investigate the efficacy and safety of Technetium 99m Tc methylenediphos-phonate injection (Yunke) and various combination therapy on rheumatoid arthritis. Methods All 137 patients enrolled in trial group.Among them 67 patients received Technetium 99m Tc methylenediphosphonate alone,42 patients received combination therapy with methotrexate and mobik and 28 patients received calcium orally meanwhile.Clinical manifestations and lab markers were observed carefully. Results The conditions of 67 patients receiving Technetium 99m Tc methylenediphosphonate alone were improved,42 patients received combination therapy had better effect and 28 patients in middle and old-age taking calcium orally simultaneously showed superiority in remission of rest pain and descent of ESR.Conclusion Technetium 99m Tc methylenediphosphonate is an effective and safe drug in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Results is suggest calcium be taken in the same time.

Objective To explore the characteristics of CT image and pathological changes of intrahepatic lymphatic stasis(ILS) caused by hepatic diseases. Methods Clinical data and CT images in contrast-enhanced arterial phase and portal venous phase in 36 cases with ILS saused by hepatic cancer, cirrhosis, hepatic metastatic tumors, hepatitis and hepatic contusion were analyzed retrospectively. The etiological mechanism of ILS was also discussed. Results On contrast-enhanced SCT scan,low-density line or annular line around the branches of hepatic vein, portal vein and/or intrahepatic inferior vena cava were found in all case, they presented as a kind of "halo sign" around the blood vessel. Conclusion The CT finding of ILS in hepatic diseases is quite characteristic and it is of great value in diagnosis of ILS.
