Objective To study the effects of rehabilitation(RT)on cardiac function in cerebral infarct (CIF)patients with cardiac insufficiency(CIS).Methods Fifty-nine CIF patients with CIS were randomly divid- ed into a treatment group(T group,n=29)and a control group(n=30),and all patients were treated with routine pharmacotherapy for 2 months. In addition,RT was administrated in the T group at the same time. The grading of the New York Heart Association(NYHA)and the changes in cardiac function associated index were observed in both groups before and after treatment. Results Compared with the control group,NYHA grades, left ventricle ejection fraction(LVEF),the levels of brain natriuretic peptide(BNP)in the blood plasma, and the 6min walking range of the T group patients were all significantly improved after treatment(P<0.05).Conclusion RT can improve car- diac function in CIF patients with CIS.

To investigate the role of H-fas oncogene in the early stages of human breast carcinogenesis. Methods Thirty cases of human breast cancer, 36 epithelial hyperplasia of usual type and 31 atypical hyperplasia were employed to detect H-ras gene codon 12 mutations by PCR-RFLP and PCR-SSCP assays, and to detect the expression of H-ras protein by immunohistochemistry method. ResultsExpression of H-ras protein were found in 73.3 % (22/30) of breast cancer and 48.4 % (15/31 ) of atypical hyperplasia. No H-ras protein expression was observed in hyperplasia of usual type. All tested sarnples of breast cancer and hyperplsia showed no mutations of H-ras gene codon 12. ConclusionOverexpression of H-ras protein is involved in early stages of breast carcinogenesis, but mutations of H-ras gene codon 12 is rarely present in the stage.

Objective To investigate the apoptosis of cultured normal human hepatocyte HL-7702 cells induced by glycodeoxycholate(GCDC)and to explore its possible mechanism. Methods HL-7702 cells were incubated with various concentrations(100,150,200 and 250 ?mol/L)of GCDC.The changes of cellular morphology were observed under optical microscope. The apoptosis rate of HL-7702 was determined by Annexin V-FITC/PI double staining. The changes of HL-7702 cell intracelluar \[Ca2+\]i were determined with Fluo-3/AM load technique. The mRNA expression levels of Bcl-2/Bax in HL-7702 cells were analyzed by RT-PCR.Results Typical apoptotic morphological changes were observed after HL-7702 cells had been treated with 150 ?mol/L GCDC for 24 h;HL-7702 cells could be induced to undergo apoptosis in a concentration-dependent manner after 100,150,200,and 250 ?mol/L GCDC treatment for 24 hours. The apoptosis rates were(13.16?2.9)%,(20.3?3.0)%,(25.02?2.1)% and(45.02?3.5)%,which were markedly higher(P

Based on the Bacillus sp., isolated from Lop Nur Desert, the technology of separation and purification and the antioxidant effect were studied. After centrifugation and vacuum filtration, the deproteinization of supernatant was operated with Sevag reagent. The crude exopolysaccharide (EPS) was obtained by precipitation with ethanol. The optimum conditions for the isolation were as follow: pH 7.0, temperature 4?C, time 1.5 h, and material to ethanol ratio 1: 4. Dissolved in water, the crude EPS was fractional separated on activated carbon column (1.5 cm ? 24 cm), eluted with distilled water, 60% ethanol, 95% ethanol, and the main fraction was collected. Then the EPS was purified on Sephadex G-100 gel column, eluted with NaCl (0.2 mol/L). Fractions (4 mL, each) were also combined according to total sugar by phenol-sulfuric acid method and protein content was determined by Coomassie brilliant blue. The results showed that EPS was relatively homogeneous glycoprotein. The data of antioxidation in vitro showed that the EPS had a high antioxidant activity, which could quench hydroxyl radical, superoxide radical and had antilipid peroxidation activity. All of these indicated that EPS was a good natural antioxidant.

Chinese Journal of Cancer 2001;20(3):314-316
Objective:This study was designed to determine the serum vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)level in human colorectal carcinoma and analyze its clinical significance. Methods:The level of serum VEGF was measured by ELISA kit (R& D,SYSTEM INC,USA) in 82 patients with colorectal carcinoma and 30 normal persons as the control group. Results:The level of serum VEGF in colorectal carcinoma was significantly higher than that of normal control. The level of serum VEGF was positively correlated with tumor size, vessel invasion, lymph-node metastasis. With upgrading of clinical-pathological stage(Dukes’stage), the level of VEGF increased significantly, but its relation to tumor site, histological type, age, and sex was not significant. Conclusion:The level of serum VEGF is closely correlated to invasion and metastasis of colorectal carcinoma. Serum VEGF assay may be used to preoperatively predict invasion and metastasis of colorectal carcinoma.

Objective The aim of this study is to analyze the long-time outcome of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)patients with micro-vascular invasion underwent liver resection combined with transarterial chemoembolization(TACE).Methods Our database of surgical re-section from January 2009 to September 2015 was retrospectively analyzed. This study was conducted on 296 HCC patients with MVI.Patients were divided into two groups:one group underwent liver resection (n =159)and another for liver resection combined with TACE (n =137). The 5-year overall survival rate (OS)and disease free survival (DFR)were compared.A multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression a-nalysis was performed to assess the prognostic risk factors associated with overall survival rate. Results The 5-year OS and 5-year DFR see significant difference (OS:18% vs.8%,P =0.001;TRF:15% vs.8%,P =0.008).Multivariate analysis revealed that HBsAg(HR 1.596, P =0.002,95% CI 1.194 ~2.131),tumor size >5 cm(HR 0.729,P =0.042,95% CI 0.539 ~0.989)as well as multiple tumors(HR 1.480,P =0.049,95% CI 1.002 ~2.186)were correlated to poor overall survival rate. Conclusion Surgical resection combined TACE for HCC patients with MVI realized a better prognosis than patients merely underwent therapy of resection.

This study aimed to understand the dynamic distribution of infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) Jin-13 strain in SPF chickens. Ninety-day-old SPF chickens were inoculated with Jin-13, a virulent strain, and dissected at day 1, 4, 7, 10, 14, 21, 28 or 35 post-inoculation (dpi). Samples of heart, liver, spleen, lung, trachea, kidney and duodenum were collected and the N gene was detected by Sybr Green I real-time quantitative RT-PCR assays. The established method had a good linear correlation from 7.77 x 10(8) to 10(0) copies/microL. SPF chickens developed typical clinical signs of IBV at the 4th dpi, and the IBV viral concentration of tissues and organs gradually increased with a peak of up to 7.13 x 10(4) copies/microL. The viral concentration of most organs decreased by the 10th dpi, but those of the kidney, trachea and lung remained positive for IBV at 28 dpi and the heart was still positive for IBV at > 35 dpi. The results of this study, showed that the Jin-13 strain can cause prolonged virus excertion in chickens with severe renal damage.
