Twenty cases of acute traumatic intracranial haematoma in children were given nonsurgical treatment with the results of 19 recovery and only one failed. There is a close relationship between the volome of haematoma and method of treatment. When the volume of haematoma undre 10ml, it is considered as small-sized hematoma, 10～30ml as medium-sized one, and above 30ml, as large-sized one. Indications for the nonsurgicsal therapy are: (1) patients who are conscious, lethargic, drowsy or in a shallow coma; (2)patients with a haematoma volumc of under 30ml; (3)patients with a structural, translocation of under 1.0cm across the midline of the brain and no pressure or only slight pressure on the cisterna ambiens. Constant intracranial pressure monotoring and CT scanning are imperative to provide pationts with timely management. Surgical intervention should be conducted without delay as soon as intracranial pressure or hematoma volume continuously rises.

The outbreaks of Zika virus infection in different regions of the world underscore the potential for the virus to spread further in the Americas and beyond.Zika is a mosquito-borneFlavivirusand is transmitted by Aedes spp. mosquitoes.It is has been reported recently that Zika virus intrauterine infection causes fetal brain abnormality and microcephaly, and WHO encourages pregnant women in countries at risk MUST protecting themselves from mosquito bites. Until now, there is no imported case in China.We have established resource and technology storage to reply to the potentialZika cases in the future, therefore, people do not need to panic in China.

Animal model plays an important role in prevention and control of infectious disease, which could link basic research in laboratory with clinical diagnosis and treatment for human patients.Mouse is the most widely used animal model of infectious disease, however, adult immunocompetent mice are resistant to some pathogens.The highly genetically diverse Collaborative Cross (CC) mice could recapitulate many of the genetic characteristics of an outbred population, such as humans.Based on this, this review will focus on the application and research progress of CC mice in infectious disease (including viruses, bacteria, fungi etc.), which could provide useful reference data for expansion of animal model resource bank, and implement of precision medicine of major and new emerging infectious diseases.We hope this review could serve as a modest spur to induce other researchers to come forward with their valuable contributions.

Changhai hospital begins to practice resident standardization training.This article introduced the basic instance of it, analyzed and summarized the experiences and problems in the process.At last we give some advices to improve the job of resident standardization training.

ObjectiveTo observe the effect of different needle-retaining lengths on the clinical efficacy of acupuncture in treating post-stroke shoulder pain.MethodSixty patients were randomized into a 30 min group and a 60 min group, 30 cases in each group. The same acupuncture treatment protocol was adopted in the two groups, and the acupuncture treatment was given once a day, 5 sessions a week, for 20 times in total. The Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), shoulder pain frequency, and Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA) were observed before treatment and after 4-week treatment.ResultThe scores of each index were significantly improved in both groups after treatment (P<0.01), and there were significant differences in comparing each index score between the two groups after treatment (P<0.05,P<0.01).ConclusionIn the treatment of post-stroke shoulder pain with acupuncture, 30 min needle-retaining is better than 60 min in comparing the analgesic effect.

Microcystins (MCs) is a potent cyclic heptapeptide hepatotoxin produced by the blue-green algae,Microcystis aeruginosa. The pollution caused by microcystins has become a global concern. Facing to MCs-induced health hazards and potential economic losses,it has an important practical significance to study the effective chemoprotectants against MCs. In this paper,both domestic and abroad researches on the chemoprotectants (silymarin,curcumin,green tea polyphenols,cyclosporin-A,rifampin,trace element supplementation) against MCs were reviewed.

Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of acupuncture-moxibustion in treating deglutition disorders after cerebral stroke.Method By computer and manual literature retrieval, eligible randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were collected for systematic review by using the Cochrane method, and the meta analysis was performed by using Revman 5.2.Result Nine studies were recruited, covering 577 subjects of deglutition disorders due to cerebral stroke. The total effective rate of the treatment group was significantly higher than that of the control group [RR=0.36, 95%CI (0.25,0.50), Z=5.80 (P<0.00001)]. The treatment group was superior to the control group in improving the water drinking test (χ2=108.73,P<0.00001).Conclusion Acupuncture can produce a content therapeutic efficacy in treating deglutition disorders due to cerebral stroke, which still requires high-quality large-sample-size clinical RCTs for further verification.

Objective To observe the phosphorylation level and nuclear translocation of signal transducer and activator of transcription factor-3 (STAT3) in hippocampal neurons induced by oxygen and glucose deprivation in vitro and discuss the dynamic changes of STAT3 signal pathway in an in vitro cell model of brain hypoxia and ischemia.Methods Hippocampal neurons from newly born SD rats (within 24 hours from birth) were cultured with DMEM/F12 for nine days,and then were transferred to oxygen and glucose deprivation environment for four hours to establish experimental cell models.The distribution of phosphorylated STAT3 (p-STAT3) in the hippocampal neurons in different groups was observed under laser scanning confocal microscope after immunofluorescence staining.Expression intensity of p-STAT3 at different time points after oxygen and glucose deprivation in the hippocampal neurons was detected by Western blotting.Results Expression of p-STAT3 was unobvious in the nucleus of the control group,but it was observed in the nucleus of the model group one hour after modeling,and peaked at three hour.Expression levels of p-STAT3 in the hippocampal neurons at each time point between the two groups showed significant difference (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion Oxygen and glucose deprivation induces noticeable up-regulation of p-STAT3 in the hippocampal neuronal nucleus,which indicates the overactivation of signal transduction pathway of STAT3.
