1.Endometriotic cyst arising from an ectopic ovary in the liver.
Philippine Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology 2009;33(1):23-31
A rare case of extrapelvic endometriosis occurring at the hepatic lobe. Only 17 cases of hepatic endometriosis have been discussed in literature. A 43 year old woman with extrapelvic endometriosis, in which initial diagnostic workup suggested hepatic lob cyst. An operation revealed the large cystic mass to be contiguous to the normal liver parenchyma. Histologic evidence obtained from exploratory laparotomy showed irregular proliferation of endometrial glands and stroma, as well as normal ovarian tissue, which led to the final diagnosis of endometriotic cyst in an ectopic ovary. Endometriosis should be considered as a differential diagnosis in female patients presenting with an abdominal cyst/mass.

BACKGROUND
Primary cancers of the appendix are rare, with an incidence of approximately 1.2 cases per 100,000 people per year and this tumor is difficult to diagnose preoperatively. The purpose of this paper is to present a rare case of metastatic mucinous carcinoma of the appendix and to provide a high index of suspicion to patients presenting with the same history, signs, and symptoms.
CASE SUMMARYWe present a case of a 33-year-old Filipina who reported abdominal pain and right lower quadrant mass. Following several preoperative diagnostic tests, a colonoscopy revealed synchronous tumors in various locations, prompting the need for an exploratory laparotomy to evaluate the abdomen. Histopathological examination was performed to confirm the final diagnosis which revealed primary mucinous carcinoma of the appendix. The tumor had extended into adjacent structures, including the cecal colon, ileum, and right ureter. Metastatic lesions were also identified in the descending and sigmoid colon. The disease was classified as stage IVC (T4b, N1c, M1c), indicating advanced progression with both extensive local invasion and distant metastasis.
CONCLUSIONHistopathology remains the gold standard for cancer diagnosis. Given the rarity and complexity of appendiceal mucinous carcinoma, a multidisciplinary approach is also essential. This collaborative strategy from various specialties is vital not only for achieving an accurate diagnosis but also for developing and implementing an effective, individualized treatment plan that addresses the distinct challenges of this uncommon malignancy.

INTRODUCTION:
Several studies have suggested that music has a significant effect on memory. Classical
music has been studied extensively. However, there are studies on other types of music like binaural
beats which involve the introduction of tones of different frequencies. This study aimed to determine the
effects of binaural beats stimulation compared to classical music on memory among high school students.
METHODS:
This was a randomized single-blind controlled trial among senior high school students in a
selected private school assigned to listen to either binaural beats stimulation or classical music to determine their effect on memory as measured by the Repeatable Battery for the Assessment of Neuropsychological Status (RBANS). Pre- and post-intervention RBANS scores were compared within and between the two study groups.
RESULTS:
RBANS scores in both classical music and binaural beats stimulation groups improved with an
increase of 20.58 ± 10.33 and 20.26 ± 12.06, respectively. The difference between the increase in scores was not significant.
CONCLUSION
Exposure to either binaural beats stimulation or classical music provided statistically and
clinically significant increases in memory. Binaural beats stimulation increased memory to the same
degree as classical music.
