Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2017;15(6):440-445
Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of warm needling moxibustion plus Mulligan dynamic joint mobilization for cervical radiculopathy. Methods: A total of 60 cases with cervical radiculopathy were randomly divided into group A, group B and group C by random digital table, 20 cases in each group. The patients in three groups were treated with similar warm needling moxibustion. Group A only received warm needling moxibustion; group B was treated with warm needling moxibustion plus Mulligan dynamic joint mobilization; group C was treated with warm needling moxibustion plus cervical traction. Before the treatment and after 12 sessions of treatment, the patients in the three groups were assessed for score of pain and range of motion (ROM). Results: By 12 sessions of the treatments, the scores of pain were obviously decreased in the three groups, with statistical significances (all P<0.05), and the pain scores of group B and group C were significantly different from the score of group A (both P<0.05). ROM of the neck was increased than before the treatment in the three groups, with statistical significances (all P<0.05), and the ROM of the neck of group B was significantly different from those of group A and group C (both P<0.05). Conclusion: Warm needling moxibustion plus Mulligan dynamic joint mobilization can effectively improve the neck ROM and relieve pain in patients with cervical radiculopathy.

Objective To explore the potential association of HLA-A alleles and genetic susceptibility with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Methods Polymerase chain reaction-sequence specific primer (PCR-SSP) was used to analyze the distribution of HLA-A alleles among 106 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus and 122 healthy persons. Results Nineteen out of twenty-four kinds of HLA-A alleles were found from the specimens, including 18 kinds in SLE specimens, and 15 kinds in control specimens. Among them, HLA-A*11 allele was positively associated with SLE (RR = 2.4380, EF = 0.1502, ?2 = 12.2440, P = 0.0005, Pc = 0.0095). For A*01 and A*24, although the P values were less than 0.05, the Pc values were more than 0.05 (0.9462 or 0.2356, respectively). Conclusions The results indicate that HLA-A*11 may be the susceptible allele or may be closely linked with the susceptible genes in Chinese SLE patients.

BACKGROUND:Adipose-derived stem cels under osteogenic induction can be combined with biodegradable silk fibroin/hydroxyapatite scaffold, which is expected to develop a new biocompatible and osteogenic bone fusion material. OBJECTIVE:To study the effect of silk fibroin/hydroxyapatite composite on the viability and osteogenic properties of adipose-derived stem cels after osteogenic induction. METHODS:Adipose-derived stem cels were obtained from rat’s fat tissue, then adherently cultured, proliferated and passaged in vitro. Passage 3 cels were cultured in conditioned medium for osteogenic induction, and then seeded onto silk fibroin/hydroxyapatite scaffold as experimental group. Adipose-derived stem cels cultured on the cover glasses at the same condition acted as control group. The celular morphology, proliferation and differentiation were assessed respectively by means of phase contrast microscope, MTT assay and alkaline phosphatase activity measurement. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:After osteogenic induction, adipose-derived stem cels could adhere to the scaffold material and proliferate on the surface of silk fibroin/hydroxyapatite scaffold normaly. No significant difference was found in cel proliferation and alkaline phosphatase activity between the experimental and control groups (P > 0.05), suggesting the celular activity and function were not affected by the material. These findings indicate that silk fibroin/hydroxyapatite composite material has good cytocompatibility. BACKGROUND: Spherical Toric intraocular lens can effectively correct the preoperative astigmatism of cataract patients, but it is unclear whether the aspheric Toric lens is better than the spherical Toric lens to improve the quality of vision. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the optical quality after implantation of aspheric toric intraocular lens in cataract surgery. METHODS: Seventy-three cataract patients with corneal astigmatism (80 eyes) were enrol ed, including 37 males and 36 females, aged 47-83 years. Among them, 36 cases were implanted with aspheric Toric intraocular lens (test group), and the other 37 cases were implanted with spherical Toric intraocular lens (control group). Postoperative examinations were performed at 3 months, including axial intraocular lens, uncorrected visual acuity, corrected visual acuity, residual astigmatism, contrast sensitivity, and wavefront aberration. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Three months after implantation, the axial view, uncorrected visual acuity, corrected visual acuity and residual astigmatism showed no differences between the two groups; no shape deviation and lens decentration occurred; there was no case required to remove the lens or subjected to secondary adjustment. In the test group, the moderate and high spatial frequency contrast sensitivity at the scotopic or scotopic glare state was significantly higher than that in the control group (P < 0.05), the total higher order aberrations and spherical aberrations at a pupil diameter of 5.0 mm and spherical aberration at a pupil diameter of 3.0 mm were significantly less than those in the control group (P < 0.05). Additional y, there were no differences in scattering index, cut-off frequency of the modulation transfer function, Strehl ratio and visual acuity at 9%, 20% and 100% contrast between the two groups. These findings indicate that the aspheric and spherical toric intraocular lenses have similar effects in improving the astigmatism and raising the uncorrected visual acuity, but the former one is superior to the latter one in improving scotopic vision, and total higher order aberrations and spherical aberrations.

Objective To investigate the electromyngraphy eharacteristies of Parkinsen's disease (PD) by studying tremor frequency, intensity and drug response. Methods Sixty-six patients with PD hospitalized during March 2005 to May 2006 were re-evaluated and recruited into the study. A ten-channel electromyography recorded the frequency and intensity of the rest tremor and postural tremor. Tremor analysis soft was used to statistically analyze differences between the two types of tremor, correlation between the frequency and intensity, and changes after regular administration of dopaminergic medication. Results The frequencies of rest tremor ((4. 79±0.69 ) Hz) and postural tremor ( (5.54±1.18) Hz ) showed statistical differences (F = 33.5, P<0. 01), but the intensity of rest tremor (0.016-421.700 (rag)2) and postural tremor (0.062-217.900 (mg)2) didn't show statistical differences (F=1.917, P>0.05 ). No regression relation was revealed between the frequency and intensity of tremor (r=0.09, P>0.05). After dopaminergic medication treatment, the intensity declined significantly from 0.016-421.700 (mg)2 to 0.027-82.200 (mg)2(F=5.179,P <0.05), but the difference of frequencies of tremor between before ( (5.09±0.85) Hz) and after treatment ( (5.20 ± 1.08 )Hz) was not significant (F = 0.474, P > 0.05). Conclusions There may be different mechanisms for the rest tremor and postural tremor in PD. There is no correlation identified between the frequency and intensity in PD and this is may be resulted from variability of tremor intensity. Dopaminergic can relieve the symptom of tremor, but it doesn't reduce the frequency of tremor.

Objective Proliferation and apoptosis play a major role in the development of tumor cells, and the intranuclear transcriptional factor c-fos is significantly up-regulated in the primary hepatocellular carcinoma and involved in early carcinogenesis. The purpose of the present study is to investigate the apoptotic effect of c-fos antisense oligodeoxynucleotide(ASO) on human hepatocellular carcinoma HepG2 cells and the participation of Caspase3 in this process. Methods Cell culture,Hoechst 33258 staining,real-time PCR and Western blotting were used in present study.Cultured HepG2 cells were divided into 3 groups: 1) control group: cultured with 10?l saline;2) sense oligodeoxynucleotide(SO,used as a negative control) treated group: co-cultured with 10?l SO(5?g/?l);3) ASO treated group: co-cultured with ASO 10?l(5?g/?l).The subsequent experiments were performed 1h after cultivation for each group.Hoechst 33258 staining was performed to detect the apoptosis by observing the staining of nuclear chromatin.Real-time PCR and Western blotting were used respectively to detect the expression of Caspase 3 at mRNA and protein levels after different treatments. Results Hoechst 33258 staining revealed that the nuclei of HepG2 cells showed diffuse and adqulis fluorescence in control and SO-treated groups, while dense and dark fluorescence was observed in ASO-treated group, which indicated that c-fos ASO had significantly induced apoptosis of HepG2 cells. The expression of Caspase 3 in ASO group was enhanced both at mRNA and protein levels compared to that in control groups. Conclusions C-fos ASO significantly induces apoptosis in human hepatocellular carcinoma HepG2 cells,as shown by Hoechst 33258 staining and higher expression of Caspase 3 mRNA and protein. Moreover,Caspase 3 activation is involved and probably plays an important role in c-fos ASO-induced apoptosis of HepG2 cells.
