1.The Roles of Aquaporin-4 and Protein Kinase C in Brain Edema After Ischemic Stroke
International Journal of Cerebrovascular Diseases 2006;0(12):-
Aquaporin-4 (AQP4) is an important structural basis for water regulation and trans- portation in the central nervous system, which participates in physiopathological processes, such as cerebrospinal fluid reabsorption, osmotic regulation, and cerebral edema formation. Protein kinase C (PKC) exists in various cells, it catalyzes the phosphorylation of serine or threonine residues on various protein substrates. In recent years, studies have found that there is a certain correlation between the expressions of AQP4 and PKC after ischemic stroke. This article re- views the distribution, function, functional regulation of AQP4 and PKC,and their relations in ischemia-reperfusion.

Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 2001;0(11):-
Objective To investigate the protective effect of recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH) on gastric mucosa of rats with hemorrhagic shock. Methods Eighteen healthy male Sprague Dawley (SD) rats were randomly assigned into 3 groups, 6 rats for each group: control group, hemorrhagic shock group and rhGH treated group. The animals in control group were subjected to anaesthesia and intubation, without hemorrhagic shock and resuscitation, and all the parameters were determined 4h after intubation. The animals in hemorrhagic shock group and the rhGH treated group were not only given anaesthesia, intubation for carotid artery and internal jugular vein, but also reproduced as hemorrhagic shock-resuscitation model by bleeding from carotid artery and blood transfusion via internal jugular vein. The animals in rhGH treated group were given rhGH (1.5U/kg) when resuscitation began. In the hemorrhagic shock group and rhGH treated group all the parameters were determined 2h after resuscitation. Gastric mucosal blood flow (GMBF) was determined with laser doppler flowmetry (LDF), and the extent of gastric mucosal injury was assessed with optical microscope and transmission electron microscope (TEM). Results GMBF of the rats in hemorrhagic shock group was significantly lower than that in control group (260.4?49.6bpu vs. 418.6?57.3bpu, P0.05). The gastric mucosa injuries in the rats of rhGH treated group were greatly improved. Conclusion The rhGH, through enhancing the GMBF, can ameliorate the gastric mucosal ischemic-reperfusion injury in rats with hemorrhagic shock.

Objective To study the clinical significance of recognizing Zuckerkandl tubercle (ZT) during thyroid surgery. Methods One hundred and sixty-one patients (218 sides) having underwent thyroid lobectomy or thyroidectomy were retrospectively analyzed. The presence of ZT, the position and size of ZT, and the relationship between ZT and recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN), superior parathyroid (SP) were observed. Results In 218 sides, 179 sides (82.1%) found ZT, with right side in 93 cases and left side in 86 cases. The main relationship between ZT and RLN was A type, accounting for 90.5%(162/179). There were no statistical differences in ZT grade and the relationship type between ZT and RLN between left side and right side (P>0.05). There was negative correlation in ZT grade and the relationship type between ZT and RLN (r=-0.269, P<0.01). In right side, 92.3%(72/78) of SP located on the top of ZT at 10-11 o′clock position;in left side, 94.6%(70/74) of SP located on the top of ZT at 1-2 o′clock position. Conclusions ZT is an important anatomical mark in the thyroid surgery, which helps to identify and protect the RLN and SP, so as to reduce surgical complications.
