The choristoma is a tumor like mass of normal cells in an abnormal location. Intraoral osseous and cartilaginous choristoma is distinctly uncommon. The etiology of choristoma is unknown. It is suggested that the intraoral choristoma is a developmental lesion. Correct diagnosis can be obtained only after histopathologic examination. The treatment of choice is surgical excision. We present a case of osseous and cartilaginous choristoma, occurred on the tongue base and treated by peroral excision, with review of the literatures.

Korean Journal of Urology 2004;45(1):88-90
A single dysplastic ectopic kidney associated with ectopic ureter or ureterocele defies detection even with repeated examinations using conventional imaging modalities and cystovaginoscopy under anesthesia, thus leading to significant delay in diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Laparoscopy can be a useful modality for the diagnosis, and also the treatment, of small ectopic kidney not found with conventional diagnostic method. We report three cases of transperitoneal laparoscopic nephrectomy for ectopic dysplastic kidney.

Although the tail of the pancreas is the second most common site of an accessory spleen, intrapancreatic accessory spleen (IPAS) has rarely been noted radiologically. However, as the imaging techniques have recently advanced, IPAS will be more frequently detected as an incidental pancreatic nodule on CT or MRI. Because accessory spleens usually pose no clinical problems, it is important to characterize accessory spleens as noninvasively as possible. An IPAS has similar characteristics to those of the spleen on the precontrast and contrast-enhanced images of all the imaging modalities. In particular, inhomogeneous enhancement of an IPAS in its early phases may be a diagnostic clue. Superparamagnetic iron oxide (SPIO)-enhanced MRI and Levovist-enhanced US, and the mechanisms of which are theoretically similar to that of Tc-99m scintigraphy, can be used as alternative tools to confirm the diagnosis of IPAS. An IPAS shows a significant signal drop similar to the spleen on the SPIO-enhanced T2 or T2*-weighted imaging and prolonged enhancement on the delayed hepatosplenic phase of contrast-enhanced US. We review and illustrate the differential points between IPAS and hypervascular pancreatic tumors in this manuscript.

Chinese Medical Journal 2011;124(4):631-633
Meckel diverticulum (MD), a congenital gastrointestinal anomaly, is often involved in pediatrics, but less in the adult population. The patient in this report was a 69-year-old female presented with massive gastrointestinal bleeding causing hemorrhagic shock due to MD containing ectopic pancreatic tissue. A review of the literature revealed that gastrointestinal bleeding from MD containing ectopic pancreatic tissue is rare in adults and difficult to be identified preoperation. MD should be considered as one of the differential diagnosis for lower gastrointestinal bleeding, although scarce in adults, especially when the patient has massive painless bleeding.

The Korean Journal of Internal Medicine 2013;28(3):361-364
Mediastinal ectopic thyroid is a very rare condition, with few reported cases in the literature and no reported cases in Korea. This report describes an asymptomatic 65-year-old man with a right paratracheal mass compressing the superior vena. Additionally, the epidemiology, clinical manifestation, diagnosis, and management of mediastinal ectopic thyroids are discussed. A mediastinal ectopic thyroid should be considered in the differential diagnosis of all mediastinal masses. Surgical excision is recommended for both the diagnosis and treatment of this condition, because of its potential for malignancy and compression of mediastinal structures. This case demonstrates the clinical importance of mediastinal etopic thyroid.

8.Carcinoma Originating from Aberrant Breast Tissue of the Right Upper Anterior Chest Wall : A Case Report.

Journal of Korean Medical Science 2001;16(4):519-521
Aberrant breast tissue is usually found in proximity to the normal breast, that is, in the axillary, sternal or clavicular regions. Carcinoma occurs more frequently in the aberrant tissue of the axilla than the extra-axillary site though the overall incidence of tumors of aberrant breast tissue is low. To our knowledge, studies regarding the carcinoma of aberrant breast tissue of the extra-axillary site have been reported rarely. Here we report a recent case of carcinoma originating from the extra-axillary aberrant breast tissue, presenting as a subcutaneous nodule on the right upper anterior chest wall. It is suggested that subcutaneous nodules of uncertain origin around the periphery of the breast should be suspected for breast carcinoma as a differential diagnosis and treated properly.
