Objective:To investigate the clinical value of multiparameteric quantitative ultrasound combined with a non-invasive prediction model for assessing high-risk steatohepatitis. Methods:One hundred and ninety-four cases with metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) who underwent liver biopsy in Huashan Hospital, Fudan University, from June 2021 to September 2022 were selected. Shear wave elastography (SWE), shear wave dispersion (SWD) imaging, and attenuation imaging (ATI) examinations were conducted in all patients before biopsy. High-risk steatohepatitis was defined as a total activity score of ≥4 in patients with steatohepatitis, hepatocellular ballooning, and liver lobular inflammation based on pathological hepatic steatosis, inflammatory activity, and fibrosis scoring system (SAF), and fibrosis stage≥F2. Binary logistic regression analysis was used to identify the factors influencing high-risk steatohepatitis. A predictive model for diagnosing high-risk steatohepatitis was constructed using R language. The DeLong test was used to compare the area under the curve between groups. Measurement data was compared between groups using the t-test or rank-sum test, and count data were compared between groups using the χ2 test. Results:There were 46 cases (23.7%) with high-risk steatohepatitis. The quantitative ultrasound parameters included elastic modulus ( OR=2.958, 95% CI: 1.889-4.883, P<0.001), dispersion coefficient ( OR=1.786, 95% CI: 1.424-2.292, P<0.001) and attenuation coefficient ( OR=42.642, 95% CI: 3.463-640.451, P=0.004). Serological indexes of fasting blood glucose ( OR=1.196, 95% CI: 1.048-1.392, P=0.011), alanine aminotransferase ( OR=1.012, 95% CI: 1.006-1.019, P<0.001), aspartate aminotransferase ( OR=1.027, 95% CI: 1.014-1.042, P<0.001), γ-glutamyl transferase ( OR=1.008, 95% CI: 1.001-1.017, P=0.041) and HDL cholesterol ( OR=0.087, 95% CI: 0.016-0.404, P=0.003) were the factors influencing its progression. The AUCs of elastic modulus, dispersion coefficient, attenuation coefficient, multiparametric ultrasound model, serological index model, and ultrasound combined with serology model for the diagnosis of high-risk steatohepatitis were 0.764, 0.758, 0.634, 0.786, 0.773 and 0.825, respectively. The results of the DeLong test showed that the ultrasound combined with the serological model was significantly better than the serological index model and the elastic modulus, dispersion coefficient, and attenuation coefficient alone ( P=0.024, 0.027, 0.038 and <0.001). Conclusion:The combination of multiparametric quantitative ultrasound is helpful for the non-invasive diagnosis of high-risk steatohepatitis and possesses great clinical significance.

Journal of Geriatric Cardiology 2023;20(11):779-787
BACKGROUND:
The benefits of healthy lifestyles are well recognized. However, the extent to which improving unhealthy lifestyles reduces cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk needs to be discussed. We evaluated the impact of lifestyle improvement on CVD incidence using data from the China-PAR project (Prediction for Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease Risk in China).
METHODS:
A total of 12,588 participants free of CVD were followed up for three visits after the baseline examination. Changes in four lifestyle factors (LFs) (smoking, diet, physical activity, and alcohol consumption) were assessed through questionnaires from the baseline to the first follow-up visit. Cox proportional hazard models were used to estimate hazard ratios (HRs) and corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs). The risk advancement periods (RAPs: the age difference between exposed and unexposed participants reaching the same incident CVD risk) and population-attributable risk percentage (PAR%) were also calculated.
RESULTS:
A total of 909 incident CVD cases occurred over a median follow-up of 11.14 years. Compared with maintaining 0-1 healthy LFs, maintaining 3-4 healthy LFs was associated with a 40% risk reduction of incident CVD (HR = 0.60, 95% CI: 0.45-0.79) and delayed CVD risk by 6.31 years (RAP: -6.31 [-9.92, -2.70] years). The PAR% of maintaining 3-4 unhealthy LFs was 22.0% compared to maintaining 0-1 unhealthy LFs. Besides, compared with maintaining two healthy LFs, improving healthy LFs from 2 to 3-4 was associated with a 23% lower risk of CVD (HR = 0.77, 95% CI: 0.60-0.98).
CONCLUSIONS
Long-term sustenance of healthy lifestyles or improving unhealthy lifestyles can reduce and delay CVD risk.

Objective To investigate the effects of microRNA( miR)-29a-3p on the proliferation and invasion of gastric cancer cells and analyze its related molecular mechanism. Methods The expression level of miR-29a-3p in gastric cancer cells was detected, and the role of miR-29a-3p in the proliferation, migration, and invasion of gastric cancer cells was evaluated. Western blotting and luciferase analysis showed that miR-29a-3p was directly bound to Serpinhl 3 ' -untranslated region(3' UTR). In addition, the effects of the miR-29a-3p/Serpinhl axis on the proliferation, migration, and invasion of gastric cancer cells were detected by MTT assay, colony formation assay, and Transwell assay in vitro. Results After transfection, the expression of miR-29a-3p in the miR-29a-3p mimic group was significantly higher than that in the miR-29a-3p negative control and blank group. After transfection, the proliferation of BGC823 cells decreased significantly. Luciferase analysis showed that miR-29a-3p inhibited the expression of Serpinhl by targeting the 3 ' UTR of Serpinhl. In addition, overexpression of miR-29a-3p significantly inhibited the proliferation, invasion, and migration of gastric cancer cells by targeting Serpinhl. Conclusion MiR-29a-3p can target Serpinhl and regulate the proliferation and invasion of gastric cancer cells.

Objective:
To our knowledge, no definitive conclusion has been reached regarding the relationship between glucocorticoids and hypertension. Here, we aimed to explore the characteristics of glucocorticoids in participants with dysglycemia and hypertension, and to analyze their association with blood pressure indicators.
Methods:
The participants of this study were from the Henan Rural Cohort study. A total of 1,688 patients 18-79 years of age were included in the matched case control study after application of the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Statistical methods were used to analyze the association between glucocorticoids and various indices of blood pressure, through approaches such as logistic regression analysis, trend tests, linear regression, and restricted cubic regression.
Results:
The study population consisted of 552 patients with dysglycemia and hypertension (32.7%). The patients with co-morbidities had higher levels of serum cortisol (
Conclusions
Serum deoxycortisol was positively correlated with systolic blood pressure, pulse pressure, mean arterial pressure, mean blood pressure, and mean proportional arterial pressure. Glucocorticoids (deoxycortisol and cortisol) increase the risk of hypertension in people with dysglycemia, particularly in those with T2DM.

Journal of Experimental Hematology 2020;28(1):153-159
OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the value of red blood cell distribution width (RDW) and fibrinogen (Fib) level for the evaluation of therapeutic efficacy and prognosis in patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL).
METHODS:
The relationship between RDW/Fib at initial diagnosis and efficacy and the clinical outcome was retro-spectively analyzed based on the study of 105 patients with DLBCL. The patients were divided into two groups: low RDW group (≤15%) and high RDW group (>15%), low Fib group (Fib≤4 g/L) and high Fib group (Fib>4 g/L) according to the normal values of RDW and Fib. Therapeutic efficacy, overall survival (OS) time and progression free survival (PFS) time were compared between two groups. The correlation between each factors and efficacy, prognosis was analyzed by univariate and multivariate regression.
RESULTS:
The therapeutic efficacy (P<0.001), OS time(P=0.004), and PFS time(P=0.007) were poorer in the high RDW group as compared with the low RDW group. The efficacy (P=0.015) and PFS time(P=0.04) were poorer in the high Fib group as compared with the low Fib group. Multivariate analysis showed that high RDW was the independent risk factor for efficacy of DLBCL patients (OR=3.394, 95% CI 1.093-10.539, P=0.035).
CONCLUSION
High RDW and high Fib associate with poor efficacy in DLBCL patients.

Chinese Medical Journal 2020;133(10):1144-1154
BACKGROUND:
The association of milk intake with cardiovascular disease (CVD) and cause-specific mortality remained controversial and evidence among the Chinese population was limited. We aimed to study the relationship between milk intake and CVDs among general Chinese adults.
METHODS:
A total of 104,957 participants received questionnaire survey. Results of physical examination such as anthropometric measurements and biochemical tests during 2007 to 2008, demographic data and their information on milk intake were collected through standardized questionnaires. Cox proportional hazard regression models were used to calculate hazard ratios (HRs) and their corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs) of CVD incidence, cause-specific mortality and all-cause mortality related to milk intake. Restricted cubic splines (RCSs) were applied to examine dose-response associations.
RESULTS:
Among the 91,757 participants with a median follow-up period of 5.8 years, we documented 3877 CVD cases and 4091 all-cause deaths. Compared with participants who never consumed milk, the multivariate-adjusted HRs (95% CIs) of CVD incidence for 1 to 150 g/day, 151 to 299 g/day, and ≥300 g/day were 0.94 (0.86-1.03) (P > 0.05), 0.77 (0.66-0.89) (P < 0.05), and 0.59 (0.40-0.89) (P < 0.05), respectively; each 100 g increase of daily milk intake was associated with 11% lower risk of CVD incidence (HR, 0.89; 95% CI: 0.85-0.94; P < 0.001), and 11% lower risk of CVD mortality (HR, 0.89; 95% CI: 0.82-0.97; P = 0.008) after adjustment for age, sex, residential area, geographic region, education level, family history of CVD, smoking, alcohol drinking, physical activity level, body mass index, and healthy diet status (ideal or not). RCS analyses also showed a linear dose-response relationship with CVD (P for overall significance of the curve <0.001; P for non-linearity = 0.979; P for linearity <0.001) and stroke (P for overall significance of the curve = 0.010; P for non-linearity = 0.998; P for linearity = 0.002) incidence, and CVD mortality (P for overall significance of the curve = 0.045; P for non-linearity = 0.768; P for linearity = 0.014) within the current range of daily milk intake.
CONCLUSIONS
Daily milk intake was associated with lower risk of CVD incidence and mortality in a linear inverse relationship. The findings provide new evidence for dietary recommendations in CVD prevention among Chinese adults and people with similar dietary pattern in other countries.

Dental implants represent the majority of treatment strategies used to replace missing teeth. However, peri-implant diseases caused by disturbance in peri-implant microbiological balance are among the reasons for implant failure. Since the 1980s, peri-implant microorganisms have been a hot research topic in dental microbiology. The bacterial ecology between the disease and health largely differs, which directly or indirectly increases the risk of peri-implant diseases. Accordingly, the determination of the 'core microbiome' of peri-implantitis and peri-implant mucositis is a key point of recent research.

Titanium dental implants have wide clinical application due to their many advantages, including comfort, aesthetics, lack of damage to adjacent teeth, and significant clinical effects. However, the failure of osseointegration, bone resorption, and peri-implantitis limits their application. Physical-chemical and bioactive coatings on the surface of titanium implants could improve the successful rate of dental implants and meet the clinical application requirements. This paper reviews the characteristics of surface modification of titanium implants from the aspects of physics, chemistry, and biology. Results provide information for research and clinical application of dental implant materials.

Current biomechanical research of dental implants focuses on the mechanical damage and enhancement mechanism of the implant-abutment interface as well as how to obtain better mechanical strength and longer fatigue life of dental implants. The mechanical properties of implants can be comprehensively evaluated by strain gauge analysis, photo elastic stress analysis, digital image correlation, finite element analysis, implant bone bonding strength test, and measurement of mechanical properties. Finite element analysis is the most common method for evaluating stress distribution in dental implants, and static pressure and fatigue tests are commonly used in mechanical strength test. This article reviews biomechanical research methods and evaluation indices of dental implants. Results provide methodology guidelines in the field of biomechanics by introducing principles, ranges of application, advantages, and limitations, thereby benefitting researchers in selecting suitable methods. The influencing factors of the experimental results are presented and discussed to provide implant design ideas for researchers.
