5.Learning Effectiveness according to the Practical Teaching Method, Self-Confidence and Degree of Knowledge Achievement or Aseptic Technique by Nursing Students.
Journal of Korean Academy of Fundamental Nursing 1999;6(1):7-17
This study investigated the degree of knowledge achievement and self-confidence in aseptic technique as a part of the fundamental nursing practice classes. The subjects were 220 nursing students in a junior college in Chonnam and an applied Quasi -experimental research methodology was used thirty of them comprised an experimental group to examine learning according to the teaching method. Wata were collected over 80 days, from April to June 1988, analyzed using descriptive statistics, percentages, means, t-test, one way ANOVA Pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression with the SAS program. The conclusions are as follows. 1. The mean score of the degree of knowledge achievement of aseptic technique of the 220 students was 0.68(possible score 1.0) before the lecture but was 0.88 after lecture(p=.000). 2. The mean score for aseptic technique of the 220 students was 3.41(possible score 5.0) before practice but was 4.27 after practice(p=.000). 3. The correlation of self-confidence before and after practice was relatively low(r=.25, p=.000). 4. The mean score of the degree of knows edge achievement of aseptic technique in the experimental group(selected 30 students) was 0.72 before the lecture but was 0.90 after the lecture. 5. The mean score of self-confidence on aseptic technique in the experimental group(selected 30 students) was 3.18 before practice but was 4.32 after practice (p=.000). 6. The mean score of learning according to the type of teaching to aseptic technique for the experimental group(selected 30 students) was 23.2(possible score 34) after lecture and presentation, was 27.3 after learning through video tape, was 31.7 after presentation through practice, was 33.7 after first practical training, and was 34 after secondary practical training. As a result of this study, learning methods in the education of fundamental nursing skill effective for knowledge achievement and competence in practicing skill.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1985;23(3):365-368
Chilblain lupus erythematosus(CLE) is a chronic unremitting from of LE seen predomin antly in women, The chilblain lesion occurs commonly on the digits, calves and heels. Chronic facial discoid LE usually appears before the chilblain form. A 23-year-old female had relatively well defined, erythematous discoid plaques on her both cheeks and scattered erythema multiforme-like ring lesions on her right hand and right wrist. There were also chilblain lesions showing multiple, purple colored macules on her knees, lower legs and periungual areas of fingers and toes. The skin lesions developed at November, 1982 and then the skin lesions remitted during the next summer. The skin lesions recurred at December, 1983.

The Journal of Advanced Prosthodontics 2009;1(3):140-144
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM: Little information is available about the buccal gingival level of multiple implant restorations. PURPOSE: This study was aimed to evaluate the relationship between width and height of buccal soft tissue around single and 2 adjacent implant restorations. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Four implant restoration groups (first and second molars, single second molars, posterior single restorations between teeth, and anterior single restorations between teeth) were randomly chosen from one dental institute. Each group comprised of 6 patients. After 6 months of function, silicone impressions were taken and stone models were fabricated for each restoration group. The stone models were cut in bucco-lingual direction at the most apical point of buccal gingival margin. The height and width of buccal supra-implant soft tissue were measured. One way ANOVA and Tukey HSD post hoc tests were performed to analyze the data obtained (P < .05). RESULTS: The most unfavorable width-height ratio was noted for the group, which was comprised of the second molar in the multiple adjacent (first and second molar) implant-supported restorations. The group also resulted in the shorter height of buccal supra-implant mucosa rather than that of anterior single implant restorations between natural teeth. CONCLUSION: To achieve a favorable level of buccal gingival margin, greater thickness of buccal supra-implant mucosa is required for the implant restorations without a neighboring natural tooth compared to the implant restorations next to a natural tooth.

8.Effect of Propofol on the Incidence of Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting after Minor Orthopedic Surgery.
Korean Journal of Anesthesiology 1999;36(3):402-406
BACKGROUND: The aim of the present study is to evaluate the effect of propofol on the incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) during the first 24 hours after minor orthopedic surgery using general anesthesia. METHODS: We studied 66 healthy female patients (aged 20-67 years old). The patients were randomly divided into the two groups: (i) Group P (n=33): Anesthesia was induced with propofol and fentanyl, and maintained with continuous infusion of propofol. (ii) Group E (n=33): Anesthesia was induced with thiopental and fentanyl, and maintained with enflurane. We compared the incidence and severity of PONV at 6 and 24 hours after the operation between the two groups. RESULTS: The incidence and severity of PONV in Group P was significantly lower than in Group E during the first 6 hours after the operation (p<0.05). However, after 6 hours, there was no significant differences between the two groups. CONCLUSION: In the early postoperative period, the use of propofol prevents PONV.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1984;22(4):435-438
Melanoacanthoma is an extremely rare pigmented benign mixed epithelial tumor of both melanocytes and keratinocytes. A 52-year-old female presented an asymptomatic, slightly elevated, 1. 2 cm x 0. 8 cm, dark black-colored plaque on her right buttock of 2 years' duration. Histopathologic finding of the plaque shows hyperkeratosis, focal parakeratosis, follicular plugging, acanthosih, papillomatosis and pseudo-horn cyst in the epidermis. The tumor is composed of basaloid and squarnous cells with many foci of clusters and whorls of melanin pigment-laden cells. Electron microscopic finding reveals many scattered melanocytes in the entire epidermis. Melanin granules are found mostly in the melanocytes but can also be found in a few keratinocytes.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1984;22(4):409-412
Benign lichenoid keratosis is an asyrnptomatic, isolated, plaque-like lesion frequently mistaken for basal cell carcinoma, Bowens disease, and actinic or seborrheic keratosis because of its variable clinical appearance. We present two cases of benign lichenoid keratosis. The first case was a 44-year-old female who had mild pruritic, ll x15rnrn sized, single, slightly elevated brownish plaque with fine scaling on the right zygornatic area of 5 years' duration. The second case was a 35-year-old female who had mild prutitic, single, pea- sized erythernatous patch on the left ala nasi of one month's duration. On histologic examination, these two cases showed same histologic findings, such as focal parakeratosis, moderate hyperkeratosis, irregular acanthosis and liquefaction degeneration of basal cells in the epidermis and band-like mononuclear infiltration and colloid bodies in the dermis.
