We report here on a case of intracapsular and paraarticular chondroma of the left knee in a patient with a 6-month history of knee pain and swelling. Magnetic resonance image (MRI) revealed a well-defined solid mass with central hemorrhagic necrosis in the infrapatellar area of the knee.

Maffuccis syndrome was first reported by Maffucci, an Italian, in 1881. It is manifested by unilateral multiple hemangiomas and enchondromas. It is congenital but is not hereditary. We encountered a case of this rare syndrome, with which bleeding tendency was combined. All who have multiple hemangioma on his unilateral side of the body should be checked with bone X-rays to rule out this syndrome. This syndrome is noted for transformation to malignant tumors. When there is pain or enlargenent of the tumor without any significant trauma, biopsy is in order. There can develop bleeding tendency due to microangiopathic coagulopathy which is associated with throm-bocytopenia and hypofibrinogenemia.

A case of chondroma of soft tissue of right hand in 23-year old man was reported. The presenting symptom was a slow growing mass, causing mild tenderness. Radiologic examination revealed a well demarked and lobulated calcified mass, was located extraskeletally. Specimen exised from soft tisssue of the hypothenar area of the hand was 5×4×3.5cm sized mass, had gelatinous and gray-whitish appearance. On microscopical examination, the tumor was classified as a chondroma of soft tissue.

Korean Journal of Audiology 2013;17(3):156-158
Extraskeletal chondroma is a rare benign tumor that develops in the soft tissues, and it manifests as a solitary subcutaneous nodule or a slowly growing tumor. It occurs preferentially in the hand and foot area of adults, and the development in the auricle is very rare. We report a rare case of chondroma that developed in the auricle, which were treated with wedge excision and reconstructed using a Burow's triangle, with a review of the literature.
