1.Two Cases of Rectus Sheath Hematoma after Cesarean Delivery.
Korean Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology 1998;41(12):3069-3072
Rectus sheath hematoma is an uncommon entity of the anterior abdominal wall and an unusual cause of painful abdominal mass. Rectus sheath hematoma have been in association with trauma, infections, debilitating disease, collagen vascular disease, pregnancy. and the puerperium. Sudden disruption of a deep epigastric vessel may result in an abdominal wall hematoma, which depending upon its location and size, can produce symptoms and clinical findings compatible with a variety of acute intra-abdominal conditions. Such hematoma are infrequently encountered and early accurate diagnosis could prevent surgical intervention. Unfortunately, the clinical manifestations of rectus muscle hematoma are sometimes so dramatic that laparotomy is performed under the belief that intra-abdominal pathology is present. The diagnosis was confirmed at surgery in both patient. We present two cases of rectus sheath hematoma which were diagnosed by clinical & ultrasound examination preoperatively.

Industrial glues, known as 'Bonds' in Korea, contain many kinds of organic solvents, and glue sniffing of youths became one of the social problems in Korea. Mixed exposures to solvents by glue sniffing may induce chronic toxicities different from those by exposures to solvents of single component. To test effects of the glue sniffing on weight gain or central nervous system, two groups of 20 male Sprague-Dawley rats were exposed to air(control group) or vapors of the glues to narcotic status(exposed group), and weight check, tail flick test, hot plate test, rotarod treadmill test were done on the 14th, 24th, 36th, 45th, 53rd, 86th, 102nd, 117th, 134th and 151st days after the first exposure. On the 188th day, their brains were excised and examined by a pathologist. Weight gain, controlled against time change, showed significant difference between the groups, but response times in tail flick test, hot plate tests, and rotarod treadmill test didn't. In pathological examination with blind method, no macroscopic or microscopic difference were found between the two groups. These results suggests that organic lesion in central nervous system may not ensue glue sniffing, but, before firm conclusion, more studies in various exposure conditions should be followed.

Korean Journal of Preventive Medicine 1991;24(4):507-515
One, two, six and ten week old Sprague-Dawley rats were exposed to carbon monoxide at 3,700 ppm for 30 minutes, and carboxyhemoglobin was measured immediateley, 5, 30, 60, 90, 120 minutes after the exposure. In each time after the exposure, the means of the carboxyhemoglobin levels were "compared among the week age groups. The regression analysis was done using the natural logarithm. of the carboxyhemoglobin concentration as a dependent variable and the time after the exposure. as an independent vaiable. From the regression equation, the half lives of the carboxyhemoglobin were calculated. The one week old rats showed significantly higher carboxyhemoglobin level than other week age rats in the entire time after the exposure. The corrected carboxyhemoglobin concentration calculated by subtracting the normal carboxyhemoglobin level from the me cured carboxyhemoglobin at each age group, showed no uniform differences.

We present a case of eccrine spiradenoma occurring on the trunk in a 33 year old woman. She developed a pea sized, pinkish tender nodule on the anterior chest 8 years ago. On histologic examination, there were several lobules surrounded by thin connective tissue septa in dermis. The lobules themselves consisted of small dark staining cells and large pale-staining cells, forming solid cords or ducts.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1985;23(1):25-32
This study was performed to investigate clinical and histopathologic features of steroid acne, which was induced by systemic administration and topical application of corticosteroids. Thirty five cases of steroid acne visited to Department of Dermatology, Hangang Sacred Heart Hospital from September, 1g79 to June, 1984 were analyzed, and the results obtained can be summarized as follows: 1. The peak age of the subjects was third decade(42.9%) with an average age of 30. 1 years, and male to female ratio was l.9: 1,2. The skin lesions had unique clinical features that showed many, uniform sized, erythematous papules and pust;ules. 3 The predilection sites of steroid acne induced by systemic steroid therapy were anterior chest(93.1%), back(44,8%), neck(31.0%), shoulder(31.0%) and face (20.7%) 4 Among thirty five cases of steroid acne, twenty cases were induced by parenteral adrninistration of dexamethasone disodium phosphate(group A), nine cases by oral administration of prednisolone(group B), and six cases by topical application of three kinds of steroid creams(group C). 5. The mean induction time after starting steroid in group A(ll. 3 days) was shorter than those in group B and C(18.9 days and l4.8 days respective)y). The mean total dosage of used steroid in group A was 191. 3mg of dexamethasone disodium phosphate and that in group B was 515. 7mg of prednisolone. On histopathologic findings of twenty two skin biopsy specimens of the three groups, perivascular inflammatory reaction was the most common finding followed by intra-and peri-follicular inflammatory reaction, dermal vascular dilatation, necrosis of follicular epithelium, comedo, intraand periollicular abscess and rupture of follicle.
