This study investigated the shear bond strengths between abrasion-resistant denture teeth and composite resins according to surface treatments. Denture teeth for this study were Trubyte IPN teeth(Dentsply Inc.,USA)with interpenetrating polymer network and Endura Posterio(Shofu Inc.,Japan)of composite resin teeth, and restorative composite resins were Clearfil FII (Kuraray,Japan)of the self-cured composite resin and Z100(3M Dental Product,USA)of the light-cured composite resin.Five different surface treatments were evaluated:(1)50 mu m Al2O3 sandblasting;(2)#100 carbide paper;(3)chloroform;(4)retentive holes;and (5)no treatment. after surface treatments, denture teeth were examined by scanning electron microscopy(SEM), and the maximum shear bond strengths between abrasion-resistant denture teeth and composite resins were measured using Instron. The results were as follows; 1.IPN teeth treated with sandblasting had the highest shear bond strength, and Endura treated with sandblasting and carbide paper had significantly greater shear bond strength than with any other surface treatment. 2.Regardless of composite resins, the shear bond strength on Endura was greater than on IPN teeth. 3.Regardless of denture teeth, the shear bond strength of Clearfil FII was greater than of Z100. 4.In appearance of SEM,IPN teeth treated with sandblasting showed generalized roughness on the all of surface, however, carbide paper treatment resulted in partly rough.Endura treated with sandblasting and carbide paper showed similar surface characteristics.Wetting denture teeth surface with chloroform removed the debris and created a particle-free and smooth surface.

Korean Journal of Veterinary Research 2013;53(4):231-237
This study aimed to assess the attraction effect against Lycorma delicatula and antioxidant activity of hexane, chloroform, butanol and water fraction obtained from Ailanthus altissima methanol extract. The attraction effect of chloroform fraction showed the highest activity (47%) as compared to that of other fractions. In the DPPH radical scavenging activity, methanol and butanol fraction showed higher antioxidant activity than other solvent fractions. From the above results, the potential chloroform fraction was further performed by local irritation test in New Zealand white rabbits. In eye irritation test, chloroform fraction showed moderate irritant at high concentration 0.5 g/site/mL, but there was no eye irritation at low concentration (0.05 g/site/mL). In accordance with the Draize evaluation of skin irritation, the primary irritation index was calculated to 3.3 and 0.68 at high (0.5 g/site/mL) and low concentration (0.05 g/site/mL) causing moderate and mild irritation, respectively. On the basis of this study, Ailanthus altissima chloroform fraction could be safely considered to be a candidate of attractant against Lycorma delicatula.

Phytochemical investigation of the stems of Pueraria lobata (Wild) Ohwi (Leguminosae), led to the isolation of eighteen known compounds: β-amyrone (1), (+)-pinoresinol (2), (+)-syringaresinol (3) (+)-syringaresinol-O-β-D-glucoside (4), (+)-lariciresinol (5), (-)-tuberosin (6), naringenin (7), liquiritigenin (8), isoliquiritigenin (9) genistein (10), daidzein (11) daidzin (12) daidzein 4',7-diglucoside (13) 2,4,4'-trihydroxy deoxybenzoin (14), S-(+)-1-hydroxy-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-1-(4-hydroxy-2-methoxy-phenyl)propan-2-one (15), methyl 2-O-β-D-glucopyranosylbenzoate (16), pyromeconic acid 3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside 6'-(O-4''-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzoate) (17), and allantion (18). The chemical structures of these compounds were elucidated from spectroscopic data and by comparison of those data with previously published results. The effects of isolated compounds on mushroom tyrosinase enzymatic activity were screened. The results indicated that, chloroform extract of P. lobata stems turned out to be having tyrosinase inhibitory effect, and only compounds 5, 8, 9, and 11 showed enzyme inhibitory activity, with IC₅₀ values of 21.49 ± 4.44, 25.24 ± 6.79, 4.85 ± 2.29, and 17.50 ± 1.29 µM, respectively, in comparison with these of positive control, kojic acid (IC₅₀ 12.28 ± 2.72 µM). The results suggest that P. lobata stems extract as well as its chemical components may represent as potential candidates for tyrosinase inhibitors.

Chinese Journal of Medical Genetics 2023;40(11):1350-1355
OBJECTIVE:
To explore the pathogenic variants and clinical classification of two fetuses with Short-rib thoracic dysplasia with or without polydactyly (SRTD).
METHODS:
With informed consent obtained, the phenotypic characteristics of the fetuses were comprehensively examined, and genomic DNA was extracted from fetal skin tissue and peripheral blood samples of the parents with conventional phenol-chloroform method. Whole exome sequencing (WES) was carried out on both fetuses, and the candidate variants were validated by Sanger sequencing. The pathogenicity of the candidate variants was analyzed using bioinformatic software VarCards, and the impact of the variants on the protein structure was predicted with Swiss-Pdb-viewer.
RESULTS:
Both fetuses were found to harbor compound heterozygous variants of the DYNC2H1 gene, including c.515C>A (p.Pro172Gln) and c.5983G>A (p.Ala1995Thr) in fetus 1, and c.5920G>T (pGly1974) and c.9908T>C (p.He3303Thr) in fetus 2. The parents of both fetuses were heterozygous carriers.
CONCLUSION
The compound heterozygous variants of the DYNC2H1 gene probably underlay the SRTD3 in the two fetuses.

Korean Journal of Preventive Medicine 1996;29(1):27-42
This study described methods to predict human health risk associated with exposure to environmental carciongens using animal bioassay data. Also, biological assumption for various dose-response models were reviewed. To illustrate the process of risk estimate using relevant dose-response models such as Log-normal, Mantel-Bryan, Weibull and Multistage model, we used four animal carcinogenesis bioassy data of chloroform and chloroform concentrations of tap water measured in large cities of korea from 1987 to 1995. As a result, in the case of using average concentration in exposure data and 95 % upper boud unit risk of Multistage model, excess cancer risk(RISK I) was about 1.9 x 10-6, in the case of using probability distribution of cumulative exposure data and unit risks, those risks(RISK II) which were simulated by Monte-Carlo analysis were about 2.4 x 10(-6) and 7.9 x 10(-5) at 50 and 95 percentile, respectively. Therefore risk estimated by Monte-Carlo analysis using probability distribution of input variables may be more conservative.

Restorative Dentistry & Endodontics 2017;42(1):19-26
OBJECTIVES: Recently, bioceramic sealers like EndoSequence BC Sealer (BC Sealer) have been introduced and are being used in endodontic practice. However, this sealer has limited research related to its retreatability. Hence, the aim of this study was to evaluate the retreatability of two sealers, BC Sealer as compared with AH Plus using micro-computed tomographic (micro-CT) analysis. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Fifty-six extracted human maxillary incisors were instrumented and randomly divided into 4 groups of 14 teeth: 1A, gutta-percha, AH Plus retreated with chloroform; 1B, gutta-percha, AH Plus retreated without chloroform; 2A, gutta-percha, EndoSequence BC Sealer retreated with chloroform; 2B, gutta-percha, EndoSequence BC Sealer retreated without chloroform. Micro-CT scans were taken before and after obturation and retreatment and analyzed for the volume of residual material. The specimens were longitudinally sectioned and digitized images were taken with the dental operating microscope. Data was analyzed using an ANOVA and a post-hoc Tukey test. Fisher exact tests were performed to analyze the ability to regain patency. RESULTS: There was significantly less residual root canal filling material in the AH Plus groups retreated with chloroform as compared to the others. The BC Sealer samples retreated with chloroform had better results than those retreated without chloroform. Furthermore, patency could be re-established in only 14% of teeth in the BC Sealer without chloroform group. CONCLUSION: The results of this study demonstrate that the BC Sealer group had significantly more residual filling material than the AH Plus group regardless of whether or not both sealers were retreated with chloroform.

Mycobiology 2019;47(1):112-119
Compounds from Lingzhi has been demonstrated the ability for inhibiting tyrosinase (a key enzyme in melanogenesis) activity. In this study, we investigated the anti-melanogenic activity from the submerged mycelial culture of Ganoderma weberianum and elucidated the skin lightening mechanism by B16-F10 murine melanoma cells. From the cellular context, several fractionated mycelium samples exhibited anti-melanogenic activity by reducing more than 40% extracellular melanin content of B16-F10 melanoma cells. In particular, the fractionated chloroform extract (CF-F3) inhibited both secreted and intracellular melanin with the lowest dosage (25 ppm). Further analysis demonstrated that CF-F3 inhibited cellular tyrosinase activity without altering its protein expression. Taken together, our study has demonstrated that the chemical extracts from submerged mycelial culture of G. weberianum have the potential to serve as an alternative anti-melanogenic agent.
