2.A case of hepatopulmonary syndrome in a child with cirrhotic portal hypertension

Report a case of 4 years old girl lived in Gia Lai province, admitted Hospital of Pediatrics No 2 at December 6th 2004. 3 days before admitting hospital, she had some symptoms including hemorrhagic vomiting, melena, and then was admitted Gia Lai Hospital. She was diagnosed with upper digestive hemorrhage, and treated by hypodermoclysis and fresh blood transfusion. Hemogram test discovered anemia. Pulmonary X ray had no abnormal image. Abdominal color Doppler ultrasound revealed images of cirrhosis and portal hypertension, large spleen. The spiral chest CT scan found that no abnormal pulmonary vessel. Patient was treated by endoscopic sclerosis of esophageal varices, and administration of Axepim and gentamycine based on antibiotic susceptibility test. Results of microbiological test after treatment was negative

7.Primary nephrotic syndrome (PNS) in children in Hai Phong Pediatric Hospital

According to the study on 507 children with PNS have been treated within the past 10 years (1990-1999), PNS is mainly seen at school age. Number of boys suffered from this is 2.5 times higher than that of girls. All of patients are suffered from oedema, mostly simple oedema (91.9%), and complex oedema (8.09%). Proteinuria is increased very highly serum protein and albumin levels is strongly decreased, serum cholesterol levels is increased very highly; serum urea and creatinine levels is within normal limit, serum natri, kali, calcium levels are decreased, serum chlorine levels is within normal limit. Blood formula: amount of leukocyte is increased, both neutrophile and lymphocyte. Hemoglobin is decreased; the speed of blood concentration is increased very highly. Treatment: most patients were responded to steroid. Ratio of complete remission is 77.93%, partial remission is 9.57% and 12.5% failed to respond.

. Genetic characteristics of two families having two children with Down's syndrome were analysed in the Department of Medical Biology and Genetics - Hanoi Medical University. Results: Family 1: Couple have two sons with Down's syndrome trisomy 21. Karyotype of the father 46,XY. Karyotype of the mother 46,XY Two sons (5 years and 3 years of old) have karyotype 47,XY,+21. Two sons have single horizontal fold on both hands. Family 2: Couple have a girl and a son with Down's syndrome translocated chromosome t (13;21). Karyotype of the father: 46,XY and of the mother 45,XX,-13,+t(13;21). Karyotype of the girl (12 years): 46,XX, 13,+t(13;21). Karyotype of the son (7 years) have: 46,XY,-13, +t(13;21). Two children have not any single fold on the hands.
