1.Complications following laparoscopic and open radical resection of colorectal cancer
Chinese Journal of Digestive Surgery 2013;(6):477-480
Colorectal cancer is a common malignancy in the digestive tract, open and laparoscopic surgery are the main treatment methods.Anastomotic fistula, anastomotic bleeding, ileus, voiding and sexual dysfunction are the common postoperative complications.Chylous fistula, incision infection, pulmonary infection and incision metastasis occasionally occurred.Compared with open surgery, laparoscopic surgery does not increase the postoperative complications, and it can be safely applied in the radical resection of colorectal cancer.
2.The prevention and treatment of early stage postoperative inflammatory intestinal obstruction after laparoscopic and open radical resection of colorectal carcinoma
Chinese Journal of General Surgery 2008;23(8):596-599
Objective To investigate the incidence, cause, prevention and treatment of early postoperative inflammatory intestinal obstruction(EPIIO)in patients undergoing laparoscopic and open radical resection of colorectal cancer. Methods From September 2000 to September 2006,483 cases of colorectal cancer were divided into two groups according the procedures received: laparoscopic surgery(232 cases)and open surgery(251 cases). The incidence of early postoperative intestinal obstruction was compared between the two groups. Results 1.In laparoscopic group,14 cases(5.69%,14/246)were converted to open surgery;2.The incidences of EPIIO in LS and OS group were respectively 3.02%(7/232)and 7.97%(20/251)(P<0.05,x2=5.60=.In LS group,6 EPIIO caseswere cured conservatively, one underwent surgery, while in open surgery group,18 cases recovered conservatively, two received surgery. Conclusions 1.Significantly less cases suffered from EPIIO in laparoscopic group.2.Most EPIIO cases will recover conservatively, in cases with repeated symptoms or when strangulation of bowel is suspected open surgery should be attempted.
3.Study of Acupuncture Zhongzhu(SJ3) and Waiguan(SJ5) by Functional MRI(fMRI)
Chinese Journal of Information on Traditional Chinese Medicine 2008;0(S1):-
Objective To observe the distribution of the activated cerebral regions after acupuncture stimulation of Zhongzhu(SJ3) and Waiguan(SJ5) by functional magnetic resonance imaging(fMRI) technique. Methods A total of 8 cases of volunteer healthy subjects were recruited for this study. Before and during manipulation of the needle, cerebral images were sampled separately by fMRI scanner and analyzed by AFNI software. Results During manipulation of the needle inserted in the unilateral Zhongzhu(SJ3) and Wauguan(SJ5),the highly-activated cerebral structures were cingulated gyrus, temporal gyrus, cerebellum, occipital gyrus, etc. Conclusion The effect of acupuncture analgesia was probably produces by the interaction of multiple brain structures of functional connectivity rather than through the activation of a single brain region.
4. Expression of MMP-9 in brain tissue of mouse cryptococcal meningitis model
Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 2010;29(7):778-780
Objective: To explore the expression of MMP-9 in mouse brain tissue and its significance. Methods: Cryptococcosis ssuspension alone (fungal suspension group) or combined with aprotinin (aprotinin group) was injected in to female C57 BL/6 mice via femoral vein cannulation. The expression of MMP-9 was examined immunohistochemically 8 h later. Meanwhile, the mouse brain tissue homogenate colony count (CFU) was observed and the results were compared with that of the immunohistochemical examination. Results: The expression of MMP-9 was markedly increased in the fungal suspension group compared with the normal control group (P<0.01); the expression in the aprotinin group was not significantly different from that of the normal control group (P>0.05). The amount of cryptococcosis in the brain tissue was positively correlated with expression of MMP-9. Conclusion: MMP-9 is overexpressed in the brain of mice with Cryptococcal meningitis; MMP-9 might lead to increased permeability of blood brain barrier.

Objective To explore the management of gliomas in pregnant women. Methods We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data in 11 pregnant women with gliomas treated at Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University between January 1989 and December 2012.Results All the patients were first diagnosed with gliomas during pregnancy, including two cases during early pregnancy, four cases during midpregnancy, and five cases during late pregnancy. The main clinical manifestations were dizziness, headache, nausea and vomiting due to intracranial hypertension, accompanied by epilepsy and blurred vision, hearing and speech disorder and other neurological dysfunctions.Among the 11 patients, one received no obstetric treatment, five underwent cesarean section, three had metaphase induced labor, one had induced abortion, and one had spontaneous abortion.Five neonates appeared normal without malformation:four survived, and one with severe asphyxia died.Ten patients underwent neurosurgery, four of them were diagnosed with low-grade gliomas and six were diagnosed with high-grade glioma by pathology.Seven patients received craniotomy after termination of pregnancy, two underwent craniotomy before termination of pregnancy, and one received emergency craniotomy immediately after admission without obstetric treatment because of her critical conditions.Of the ten patients treated with craniotomy, one died after a coma for 50 days, one was lost to follow-up,six received radiotherapy plus chemotherapy, one received chemotherapy alone, and one received neither radiotherapy nor chemotherapy.Among the 11 patients, one patient who underwent cesarean section without craniotomy was lost to follow-up,one patient with low-grade glioma died 50 days after operation, one treated with craniotomy was lost to follow-up,and eight were followed up for four months to three years, among which four survived and four with high-grade glioma died within one year after operation. Conclusion The overall prognosis of glioma patients during pregnancy is poor.It is important to take into account the tumor status of the pregnant women, gestational age, fetal maturity and patient's desire for tocolysis, and weigh the pros and cons, and timely terminate pregnancy and perform neurosurgery.

Objective To compare the influence of the dynamic device(DD) of pedicle screw fixation and its equivalent rigid device (RD) on bone mineral density and bone structure of the vertebrae. Methods 24 goats were randomly divided into 4 groups: control group, single posterolateral fusion group, dynamic device with posterolateral fusion group and rigid device with posterolateral fusion group. After 24 weeks postoperative observation, the animals were sacrificed and the fixed lumbar spines were harvested. The bone mineral density (BMD) of these harvested specimens was measured by quantitative computed tomography (QCT). Then the L3 segment was embedded in methyl methacrylate and sectioned after alcoholic dehydration. Undecalcified slides (50 ?m in thickness) were stained with toluidine blue. Quantitative histologic analysis was performed in a semiautomatic way. The static parameters consisted of trabecular bone volume (TBV), the mean trabecular plate thickness (MTPT) and mean trabecular spacing (Tb.Sp). The main dynamic histomorphometric parameter, bone mineralization rate (MAR), was calculated by measuring the mean distance between two flurochrome labelings. Results The BMD in the rigid device group decreased significantly compared with control group (P
