Chinese Journal of Digestive Surgery 2010;9(1):61-63
Objective To investigate the risk factors of complications induced by intraperitoneal chemotherapy after radical resection for colorectal cancer, and to summarize the prevention and treatment methods. Methods The clinical data of 234 colorectal cancer patients who received intraperitoneal chemotherapy after radical resection at the Union Hospital of Fujian Medical University from January 1997 to March 2007 were retrospectively analyzed.Risk factors influencing the incidence of complications were determined by analyzing 12 relevant factors with one-way analysis of variance(ANOVA)and Logistic multivariate regression analysis. Results The incidence of complications after intraperitoneal chemotherapy for colorectal cancer was 37.2%(87/234),incidence of catheter-associated complications was 20.5%(48/234),incidence of adhesive ileus was 12.4%(29/234),and the incidence of chemical peritonitis was 19.2%(45/234).The results of one-way ANOVA and Logistic multivariate regression analysis showed that abdominal surgery history, surgical modality, postoperative complications, courses and frequencies of chemotherapy and chemotherapeutics were the risk factors influencing the incidence of complications after intraperitoneal chemotherapy. Conclusions One or two courses of intraperitoneal chemotherapy after radical resection for colorectal cancer is safe with few complications.Chemical peritonitis is the main cause for adhesive ileus after intraperitoneal chemotherapy, maintaining intestinal tract unobstracted during intraperitoneal chemotherapy is effective in preventing adhesive ileus.
3.Spermatic Cord Sarcoma: Two cases report.
Korean Journal of Pathology 1998;32(7):546-548
Present study describes two rare spermatic cord sarcomas. The first case is leiomyosarcoma of a 56-year-old man with 3-years' history of slowly growing hard mass in the right inguinal area, measuring 8x6x5 cm. The second case is fibrosarcoma of a 39-year-old man with 3x2 cm painless right inguinal mass. Both cases underwent radical excision of mass and orchiectomy. Clinico-pathologic characteristics of spermatic cord sarcoma are discussed with literature review.

4.Intraabdominal Heterotopic Thymus: Report of an autopsy case.
Korean Journal of Pathology 1996;30(11):1057-1059
Ectopic thymus results from the aberrant migration of thymic tissue and is mostly present in the mediastinum, the base of the skull, the tracheal bifurcation and the cervical region. We report the first case of intraabdominal heterotopic thymus incidentally detected and attached to the liver without associated anomalies. This fetus was sent to the Department without any clinical information. The fetus was small for gestational age, but had no external abnormalities. Each organ showed normal development except for the liver. The liver weighed 6 gm(normal 17.064+/-4.143 gm). Gray white heterotopic thymus was attached to the superior surface of the liver in the subdiaphragmatic area. It measured 1.1x0.6x0.5 cm. There was no diaphragmatic defect. The cervical thymic tissue near the thyroid was small and measured 0.2 gm(normal 0.927+/-0.485 gm). There was no thymic tissue in the anterior superior mediastinum. The histologic features of the heterotopic thymus were identical to the orthotopic thymus showing features appropriate for the gestational age. The origin of this subdiaphragmatic heterotopic thymus is speculated.

OBJECTIVE:
To explore the effective of the new mechanical assistant canalith repositioning procedure (TRV-CRP) to the diagnosis and treatment of the benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV).
METHOD:
The data of the cases with suspected diagnosis of BPPV from April to June of 2012 checked and treated by TRV-CRP in our vestibular function checking room were collected and analyzed. All of the cases were followed up to one to three months.
RESULT:
Total 504 cases of suspected diagnosis of BPPV were collected. Three cases were rejected for un completed procedure. All of the 501 completed procedure cases included 162 male and 339 female with age ranging from 10 years old to 86 years old (52. 8 +/- 14 years old). 169 cases (33.73%) were positive diagnosis and 332 cases were negative diagnosis (66.27%). 135 cases enrolled only one semicircular canal (SC) account for 79.89% of all the positive diagnosis that included 17 cases of left horizontal SC, 4 cases of left superior SC, 29 cases of left posterior SC, 23 cases of right horizontal SC, 4 cases of superior SC and 58 cases of right posterior SC. 25 cases enrolled more than two SC (14.80%). 9 cases of objective BPPV (5.33%) included 5 cases of right posterior SC, 3 cases of left posterior SC and one cases of right horizontal SC. Exception of 163 cases without classic BPPV history in the 332 negative diagnosis cases, 169 cases had classic BPPV history including 14 cases treated by manual canalith repositioning procedure and 33 cases which had released from the vertigo. The rate of treatment effective by TRV-CRP was 100%. There were 20 cases returned for retreatment because their unsatisfied about the release of their symptom but proved to be negative diagnosis again in 10 cases and positive diagnosis in 10 cases, however, only 4 cases proved to be the same SC disease were considered as relapse (2.37%) and others enrolled different SC. After retreated, all cases got release without relapse.
CONCLUSION
TRV-CRP could diagnosis 34% of the primary diagnosis cases of BPPV. TRV-CRP had high rate of effective and lower relapse which especially fitted to patients suffered from complex BPPV or difficult to finish the manual repositioning procedure. However, due to the expensive of TRV-CRP, it is reasonable to combine TRV-CRP and manual repositioning procedure in clinical.
